Member@Tina but isn’t it interesting that they supposedly have so many people keeping an eye open for spammers but so many important posts go unanswered. LOL I’m calling BS on that one. A completely unused Buddypress site is having new registrations and posts on average of every 5 minutes and sometimes less. But yet this site is virtually spam free. What’s the secret? Why can’t Akismet block the Buddypress spam?
June 3, 2012 at 10:20 pm #135434In reply to: Server requirements for 100K active users
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterSuggest you hire someone with server expertise if you’re talking about that scale. It’s cheaper than trying to scrape together advice from forums.
100k users, one at a time, is different from 100k users visiting your site at the same time. It’s a question of concurrency, really, and what your requirements are about server redundancy and failover.
Whatever runs WordPress at this level, will run BuddyPress.

ParticipantI had enable BP multi blog enabled in wp-config, thus BuddyPress is automatically activated and configured at the site level.
I went ahead and dis-enabled BP multi blog and this put the BuddyPress control panel in the Network Admin site. There I was able to configure bbPress so that it worked.
Then I enabled BP multi blog and added sites. I now have separate bbPress forums on each site with the addition of BP Multi Network filtering.

ParticipantMe either, Paul @djpaul. But it’s happening to all of our iPad and iPhone users. I’ve disabled all plugins (except BP) and same thing. They say say clicking on the upload button does nothing at all.

MemberI’ve done the following:
1. If you do not have access of PHP.ini file then add this to an .htaccess file of your domain:
php_value memory_limit 256M
2. Try to add this line to your wp-config.php file to increase allocated memory to PHP:
define(’WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);
3. Deleted the plugin folderWP admin works! Was sweating blood. I’m too afraid to install this plugin now.

tibbles
MemberTheme is: BuddyPress Default
When clicking on a tab of the menu – (not blog posts) currently all pages display the page name – which makes it look unprofessional. The contents of the page clearly indicate what the page should be – no need for a display of the page name. How does one ‘hide’ this? If deleting it is too complex for me then I’ll settle for just hiding the name.
Thank you for the response.

@mercime
ParticipantYou need to make your WordPress theme compatible with BuddyPress by installing the “BP Template Pack” plugin then go through Appearance > BP Compatibility.

ParticipantI was also surprised to discover that when a user is marked as a spammer, no action is taken to delete or hide the messages they have sent from users.
When a user is marked as a spammer, surely Buddypress should prevent all other users from seeing messages they have sent? Can this be added to a future version?

ParticipantThanks I will try
At the moment I seem unable to adequately search the site, create new topics, find topics started, find replies and generally navigate well, except for searching plugins which does seem to be ok.June 3, 2012 at 8:12 am #135410Antonio
MemberI’ll take them a look.
June 2, 2012 at 8:58 pm #135405In reply to: “Redefining already defined constructor”
Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterBuddyPress won’t be trying to load itself twice (the redefine errors), so something must be triggering part of that. It’s either BP Docs, or another BuddyPress plugin or customisation that you have.
If you disable BPDocs, what goes away?

This Plugin may help, tested on a single site, hasn’t been tested on a multi-site install. I was having the same issue, so I had this developed. Let me know if it works for you.
FYI: I submitted it to WP for inclusion in their repository, should be there soon.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterSo I am doing this for a work site at the moment. I suggest you set up a test site, which you can do test runs of your upgrade. Go through all the posts linked in the thread that mercime found the proper link for (sorry for broken link earlier), and update all your plugins — especially BuddyPress plugins.
If you are using any old BP plugins that haven’t been updated in the last year/year and a half, there’s a good chance it won’t work with BP 1.5.*

KeymasterCheck out bbPress if you want to see how it will eventually be used, or look at the code of my Achievements plugin (https://github.com/paulgibbs/achievements/) which is still in development, but if you look at the code, you see it’s been built to a very similar pattern.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterThere is not “more than enough”. If there was enough, then you wouldn’t get the error message. Simple as that.
You can get older versions from https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress/developers/ but I recommend you stay up to date with the latest version.
