ParticipantChange to bp-default theme and you’ll see all the Pages generated so far. Use custom menu feature and choose which links you want to be there in main navigation. https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/how-to-set-up-your-main-site-navigation-using-the-built-in-wordpress-menus/
December 4, 2011 at 11:04 pm #125576In reply to: Custom text strings
@mercime
ParticipantYou need to create a child theme of the bp-default theme. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Then follow the instructions here https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/ as @aces mentioned above

MemberPlease do NOT recommend plugings which are obviously broken! Looks that WP G+ plugin NEVER worked! Everybody who tried it complained, there was not even 1 single reply from the developers ….
“Great”, right?

Member@mercime so I have re-enabled /ticked the box, selected the support page, checked the slug is ok, all is fine, rerun permalinks, cleared cache and the link doesn’t work. I have tried entering meetinbradford.org/support and also tried the link, neither seem to work.
I notice that now, when I go to archive slugs > forums base : it states that there is a possible conflict with Support page

Member@mericme – when I follow your last step to the Buddypress>pages>discussion forums – the discussion forums option is not there because I unticked the box because I thought that I needed to do this to disable group forums to make site wide forums work.

ParticipantYou have two pages titled “Support” in your site – Support with slug Discuss and Support page with support slug – the first one a left-over from previous need to have both group and sitewide forums.
– Delete the first one, Support page with slug Discuss, then go to Trash and Delete Permanently that page.
– The title of the Page should equal name of slug. So open up the Support Page that you kept and make sure the slug below it is also support.
– Now go to admin dashboard menu BuddyPress > Pages > Directories – Discussion Forums, select the page Support and click on Save button on same line.
– Go to admin dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks and re-run it once again for good measure.
Note: if you want to rename the page to “Discussions”, don’t forget to change the slug to discussions as well, and go to BuddyPress > Pages to select the page Discussions from the dropdown.

Member@mercime I have backed up my database and deleted bb-config.php. There is no immediate difference, that I can see. I do not want to use the group forums feature.

Participant@candy2012 deactivate ALL plugins by renaming wp-content/plugins to wp-content/plugins-xx in server. Go to wp-admin. Rename back to correct folder name after you get in.

MemberOne question, I see that on the Facebook like wording for the HTML5 scripts it says: “Include the JavaScript SDK on your page once, ideally right after the opening tag.”
You then use the “<div class="fb-like"" etc where ever you want the button to show.
As I am using a child theme does the above still apply?

Member@wordpresschina @boonebgorges
Apologies for resurrecting this old thread, but I’m hoping someone might be able to help.I’ve been trying to use the Import from Ning plugin to import users from a CSV file. I created the CSV file manually – the users were originally listed in a plain html file.
My problem is that when I try to import, the plugin says:
“In order to run the importer, you must first use your FTP program to upload the contents of your Ning export into a directory called ning-files in your wp-content directory. The plugin couldn’t find a valid members file at /home/mp83lbho/public_html/w/wp-content/ning-files/ning-members-local.json, which probably means that you haven’t uploaded the files to the right place. Upload your unzipped export to the json directory, and try visiting this page again.
If you’re sure that your files are in the right place, then the most likely explanation is that your ning-members-local.json file is invalidly formatted. Contact Ning to ask about getting a new one.”
I’ve tried creating a blank json file with that name, in the right location, with no luck.
Creating a json file itself seems pretty simple too (I’ve been looking at http://json.org/example.html), but I’m confused as to what it needs to contain – do I add all the user info into the json, or is the json file just to tell the plugin what information from the CSV goes where?
If anyone could throw some light on this that would be great, or upload a sample json file with accompanying CSV.
Thanks
Stefhan
