ParticipantOkay well I did just create two usernames for buddypress and tried it on the main site and sure enough it took one offline when I was not. Looks like either this is the way they wanted to function (can’t see why) or some sort of caching issue like you stated above. I created a ticket here so maybe we can get more of an official word on the matter. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3590

Participant@bitofgrace Hey I am seeing the same issue as well. I actually made a post about it where I havent got any word back yet. Have you gotten this to work properly or any more ideas on what my be causing this? maybe we can help eachother because I would like the avatars to stay present when they are logged in. I am almost tempted to write my own but I would like to get the current one working sounds more realistic.

wendymerritt
Participant@mercime That was it! When I activated the BP default theme I was able to create a group normally. Whew! After I created the groups I needed I just reactivated the theme again. I hope StudioPress gets the GenesisBuddy, Genesis theme plugin fixed so this won’t happen to anyone else.
Thanks for the advice!

MemberBasically 3 things. An embedly hack, a latest forum topic widget and a hack to allow the correct avatar upload path because it’s in a sub-domain. That latter would be my guess.

ModeratorGoogle around, there is already a BuddyPress 2011 theme created

ModeratorThis isn’t a BP issue. Sidebars are added and customized just like WordPress. There is a plugin in WordPress.org plugin repo that allows different sidebars on different pages.

ModeratorThanks to those that updated this it’s still a really important thread. I’ve been out for a little bit but trying to get back into seeing what’s being updated now. I think I’m right in saying @Foxly and the great bpmedia team are firmly on top of the spreadsheets for this.
Yes, the template pack git page is a great one as that’s where you get the work in progress version – so great to see things happening before even release.
As 1.5 approaches it’s going to be so tempting to just switch but this list and the links in the codex should hopefully bring a pause for caution to some minds. In most cases as seen you’ll be fine but a pause never causes an issue.

MemberThere is a Group Blog plugin which would do what you are looking for.I’ve tested it a few months ago.It creates a blog in the group ceate/admin process then you would need to select a theme which would match with your main blog. Not sure if it works with bp 1.5 yet though,i tested it on bp 1.2.9

KeymasterI’m a bit baffled that /plugins/bb-custom.php would somehow break BuddyPress, but hey — glad you’ve got it working

MemberNope.

I was just going to ask if multisite was an issue. Is multisite required?

KeymasterI don’t have any ideas right now, especially if no errors in your web server’s log… have you tried re-downloading BuddyPress 1.5 and upgrading, in case there was some sort of error in the version you’ve been trying with?

MemberI get this error when actavating the plugin:
“The plugin generated 1 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.”
I restored the database to before I attempted upgrading and went through everything step by step with the same results.

How do you re-run the upgrader?

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterUpgrading is as easy as removing the old BuddyPress folder, and putting the new one in place (make sure you call the new directory “BuddyPress”, just like the old one), and then running the upgrader when you log into wp-admin.
When you visit any of these blank pages, do you get any messages in your error log?

Participant@travel-junkie Cheers Boris, just got around to testing this, and it works a treat without brackets!
Changed 145 rows in under a second! Saved me A LOT OF TIME!
Thanks!

MemberIt looks fine: https://i.imgur.com/kLMjz.png
I tried creating new pages with different names, but that didn’t work either. Widgets, avatars, etc. work, just no pages.
Could you supply a quick guide on how to upgrade to RC1 from 1.29? Should we delete or override the older files? What if any changes should we make to the RC1 folder names…. etc. I think I got it right, but for trouble shooting purposes I want to be sure.
Thanks

MemberHere is how I upgraded to BuddyPress 1.5 beta 3 from BuddyPress 1.2.10
1) I deactivate all BP plugins (BP remains active)
2) I move old /buddypress/ (version 1.2.10) out of the folder /plugins/
3) I move the folder /1.5-beta-3/ into /plugins/ and rename it to /buddypress/
(the folder /1.5-beta-3/ results from unzipping the downloaded BP 1.5 beta file tags_1.5-beta-3-5058.zip)
4) in admin/plugins I refresh the page
On top of the plugin admin page I see a message that BuddyPress has been upgraded with an instruction to start upgrade wizard.
5) I run the wizard
6) I re-activate all BP pluginsNow, testing

MemberAha … thanks Paul. What do I do with the current /buddypress/ ? Rename or delete (and deactivate) prior to adding the new 1.5 version of /buddypress/? Also, should I deactivate all other BP plugins (that’s what is recommended for normal BP upgrades).
Thanks!September 18, 2011 at 3:40 pm #120246In reply to: Buddypress 1.5 RC1 – Default Template Header Graphic

MemberI’m favouring Brunelleschi Theme at the moment. You can see it running at http://www.dennisbarkercv.com
compatibility is by running the buddypress buddypack plugin but it does pretty much what I want with no coding. -
