MemberYes, its all the same install.
right now, the only loop I was able to get to work is:
`<?php
$debut = 0; //The first article to be displayed
?>-
<?php
- : <a href="”>
$myposts = get_posts(‘numberposts=-1&offset=$debut’);
foreach ($myposts as $post) :
?>`
Ive tried other loops from https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop and have had no luck.
I just get date, title.
Any ideas.

ParticipantAssuming you’re already loading jQuery in your header with something like this ` ` just add the following before the “ tag…
`
jQuery(document).ready(function(){jQuery(‘#object-nav a, #subnav a’).live(‘click’, function(e){
e.preventDefault();
var link = jQuery(this).attr(‘href’);
jQuery(‘#nav-ajax’).html(‘Loading
‘);
jQuery(‘#nav-ajax’).load(link+’ #nav-ajax’);});
});
`
To write this script, I chose what links I wanted to make the call – for profile navigation that’s those in #object-nav and #subnav.
Then you have to wrap the elements you want to get loaded in a div – in this case I used `` and wrapped it around the entire item-body div in my theme’s members/single/home.php…. Like so
`<?php
/* If nothing sticks, just load a member front template if one exists. */
locate_template( array( ‘members/single/front.php’ ), true );
?>
`You also have to do the same thing for the members/single/plugins.php with the same div. Just style the p class=”ajaxing” however you want in your default stylesheet. The process works the same for groups as well. I had problems getting a:active css attributes to show, but besides that it’s worked just fine.
Oh, and thanks for the compliments!

KeymasterConfirmed. This is a bug in trunk, for multisite. I tracked down the problem and am about to commit a fix. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3313 svn up your BP installation to get the fix.
Thanks for letting us know, and for running trunk!!

Participantgreat! thanks! ok so first you say that all that can be done with the current versions…then lastly you say that i need to dive into the code…so do you mean that the things that i mentioned are only available if i dive into the code? or are they possible without doing any coding?
i’m not a coder, and i cannot afford to hire a coder…but i have been able to fiddle a little with some very simiple code here and there…so if its simple enough, i may be able to figure it out if there are explicit instructions somewhere…
i will check out the buddypress doc you linked to but i’ve found that the wordpress docs are not always easy for me to understand…make my eyes glaze over, LOL! i much prefer the interpretations that people blog about or post on forums that explains things in simple terms that i understand. so i hope that document is user friendly in that sense. we’ll see.
thanks again! and please let me know if to do the things i listed above if i will have to get someone to help me with coding or if they are possible out-of-the-box or with a plugin? that wasn’t clear to me in your response. thank you!

ParticipantGreat, that plugin is perfect thank you!
All I need to work out now is how to change what template the buddypress pages (groups, forum, etc) use – any ideas?

ParticipantCheck out this page of the codex to learn how to change any and all messages/labels in BP so they stay changed, even when you update your install (which won’t happen if you simply edit the text in the templates):

ParticipantDid you check registration if you deactivate Typepad spam blocker as well as all other plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme?
July 3, 2011 at 6:10 pm #115611In reply to: Event manager with Citizen Kane Theme
@mercime
ParticipantCould be that it’s the Event Manager plugin which is not working with BuddyPress. Does the event manager plugin you’re using work on the bp-default theme?
July 3, 2011 at 6:06 pm #115610In reply to: Duplicate content issue: pagination
@mercime
ParticipantYou have to more specific like WP/BP versions? Which theme are you using? If you deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress and change to bp-default theme, does the same behavior show up or is it fixed?

@mercime
Participant@hawkd215 Since BP Social is a premium theme, you should be able to get free support from theme author who knows all the nuances of the theme — which is not available to those of us who didn’t purchase the theme.

@mercime
ParticipantAll that can be done with current WP/BP versions. If you’re new to WP/BP, you’d have to:
– do some reading https://codex.buddypress.org/home/ and
– testing on an installation already set up at http://testbp.org/ or set up your own installation and
– diving into code yourself or hiring someone to do it.As for plugins, it is good practice to install plugins which are compatible with your WP/BP version – you’d see it noted in plugin information https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/.

Participantwhen I installed the buddypress it works fine. But the register and upload avatar seems not to work. i think they are related. Please kindly visit my site http://www.ltdexperience.com/register. I haven’t yet updated theme’s structure to fit the buddypress. Please try to register, you’ll just get a page as if it was just got refresh only not really submitting the form, I’m bump.

ParticipantBy the looks of it the theme isn’t compatible with buddypress. A link would have helped but I suspect it might be http://themeforest.net/item/traject-wordpress-portfolio-and-business-theme/116671 ?
You may be able to convert it yourself using the buddypress template pack ….

ParticipantThis is Traject’s theme functions.php. It’s not working on my part either and even with the crop image. sigh ***

Participant== i go to one of my buddypress sites ==
BP version? Did you install the site in question before or after your server crash? If you deactivate BuddyPress as well, do you still have a blank page? How are your other BP sites working out?

Participantthe site that i am working on will be a directory of parent-owned at-home businesses…i am interested in users being able to have profiles with personal info about themselves, and socialize with each other through that…and then post their businesses (connected with their profile…similar to the recipes being connected to the profiles of the tastykitchen.com users) to a central directory which is fully browsable and searchable.
things i love at tastykitchen.com that i want to use similarly on my site:
* slideshow w/post pics and profile pics together (is this an existing or did they create this? anyone know?)
* featured member
* recipes button on bar w/categories list on hover…instead of a directory of recipes…i would like users to be able to add their business to a directory…so where tastykitchen.com would be listing recipes, i want to list the businesses of users
* spotlighted recipes in the sidebar (i want to spotlight user’s businesses)…
* popular recipes: i’d want “popular businesses”…i imagine that “popularity” is determined by how many views the recipe has had? and lists those with the most? is this part of buddypress or a hack?
* recent recipes: i would want this to be newly added businesses
* meet the member
* the community feature…i would want something similar, to be able to browse user profiles…featured users and popular users and newest members, just like at tastykitchen.com when you click on the “community” button on the menu bar.July 3, 2011 at 4:20 pm #115597Joseph G.

ParticipantDirty hands are fun

Didn’t you already set member profiles to show only to logged-in users? The whole profile section (including the header) is being hidden whereas only the profile activity streams should be hidden. Check members/single/home.php for the code you added earlier, and comment it out or remove it temporarily to see if the display looks better.

ParticipantYou can achieve that with a membership plugin. A quick search of the WordPress repository will turn up several: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/search.php?q=membership
My personal favorite is s2member… it does everything, and then some!

ParticipantYou really are struggling with this one, aren’t you? One of the important things to look out for is being sure your “if” statements are properly nested.
To mimic the functionality of the site you linked to above, open activity/activity-loop.php and paste the first part of the conditional (the if, message & else) immediately AFTER the following line:
“Close the conditional (the endif part) immediately BEFORE the following line:
“This will display your not-logged-in message to visitors everywhere the activity stream is displayed: in the main stream, as well as in profiles and groups.
