ParticipantAlso, when I’m replacing `value=””` with `value=””` (using the correct field number) I’m blowing up registration.
Did that happen to you?

Participant@xberserker — I’m looking for exactly the same thing.
Were you able to get it to not put the text above the field box?

ParticipantDid anyone work out how to make breadcrumbs work properly?
I tried the above, but
– it adds “Members” or “Groups” after the current page link
– it does not display the current page name, but its link instead..June 13, 2011 at 11:01 pm #114471In reply to: Call to arms – Abandoned Buddypress Plugins

MemberIt would be nice if there was a update guide for plugin developers/users. I don’t know if it is possible, but it would be nice.

MemberThere’s a plugin to use hashtags within buddypress activity (BuddyPress Activity Stream Hashtags). However as far as I know there’s no “trending topics” plug-in anywhere.

ParticipantSure is! Add the following to your stylesheet:
div#enhanced-categories ul li {
display:inline-block;
width:49%;
vertical-align:top;
}display:inline-block sets the li items up side-by-side as long as width is less than 50%. vertical-align:top ensures that each li item stays aligned at the top when the other is expanded (try without the vertical-align to see the difference).
To make your css learning curve a lot easier, install the Firebug for Firefox addon. You can play around with various settings on any web page (even if it’s not yours) until you get the look you want, then simply copy the style rules to your stylesheet and upload. http://getfirebug.com/
Hope this helps!

EDIT: if you add a 3rd main category, you’ll need to set width to 33% or less to accommodate it on the same line, or leave it at 49% if you want them in 2 columns (I’m guessing that’s how it’ll display).

ParticipantI think the reality will be a simple search filter like on WP. It either will work with 1.3 or it wont, and I think as long as your plugin falls out of working with 1.3 and the dev hasnt updated I would consider it abandoned. The issue I have is when they wont admit it or have taken money in offer of support but disappear.
I’m going to be doing work on group docs here soon, the older developer has been super busy and he graciously let me work on the code with him to get it to 1.3 So Id say contact the Dev and see what their status is. I’m actually writing up stuff for Group Docs right now.Some plugins are going to break with 1.3 Most should be rewritten for it. I think 1.3 will be the stable ground for plugins beyond this point as the biggest difference is a solid framework from 1.2

MemberMember rating would be a great feature for BuddyPress… I’m kinda surprised there’s nothing like it already out there. My vote for it.

DoctorDR
MemberIt’s really the simplest of tasks. You will need to use one of the many favicon generators as suggested by @suchaqd, then add a single line of code in header.php. I’ve added mine directly after the stylesheet declaration, i.e…
` <link rel="stylesheet" href="” type=”text/css” media=”screen” />
`Just make sure you call it ‘favicon.ico’

MemberOk. Here’s the update. Server checks out with proper versions of PHP and MySQL. Latest version of both WP and BP. Mod_Rewrite is functioning. Proper directories are writeable. WP is fully functional. Raw install… no other plugins active. Default theme. Looked through error log (nothing showed up). I’m stumped. Still getting the same error.
Server tech guy says “I looked through the logs also, and did not see any errors in the error log either. I also saw that the request for ‘/wp-admin/plugins.php?activate=true&plugin_status=all&paged=1&s=’ returned 200, which means OK, so that is a bit weird.”
Any insight is supremely appreciated.

KeymasterClosing topic. BuddyPress does not “make the database server crash.” Please make a new post with full details of your server/website, such as the URL, and any relevant web server or MySQL errors/warnings that you get. We can’t try to help when you don’t give us any information.

Participant@jtcreate Not sure on that end — I’m more of a front-end kinda guy, with fairly rudimentary server-admin skills. I’m running a couple of VPS’s with 300Mb memory for the MySQL server and 600Mb for the web server, and that’s running a fairly busy BP instance, a very busy forum, and a few other not-very busy sites as well, reasonably happily.
I did notice a very signification reduction in resource usage after deploying and tweaking W3 Total Cache, though, for what it’s worth.
