As hnla said, don;t paste long pieces of code liek that. and you;re looking in the wrong spot. that;s a core wp file which you will never edit. the linsk will show *dynamically* in your theme.

in the theme folder that has your BP theme files. What are you actually running, is BP installed and activated, and are you using the default theme? if so the theme files live in the buddypress plugin directory but you shouldn’t edit them directly.

I suspect it’s either permalinks or you haven’t finished setting up compatibility in your theme.

Your server is not the problem. Not entirely anyway. I signed up to your site and got two emails – one with an activation link and one confirmation email. Exactly like I am supposed to.

So your problem is *not* the server is not sending email. The problem is some of the people signing up are not getting them. Which means it’s mostly on their end. You can do a reverse dns entry, like @hnla stated above, but really that’s all you can do for some places like Hotmail & Comcast.

one more:

by reading the code, I can see the locate_template() function comes with 3 parameters

locate_template($template_names, $load = false, $require_once = true )

the third parameter “$require_once” is ignored in buddypress and default is true

locate_template( array( ‘sidebar.php’ ), true )

that means the conflict could just happen by using something like this

locate_template( array( ‘sidebar.php’ ), true, false ); where $require_once is false.

Member albums is not a feature of BP Album + however it is a feature of the next big release (1.9), you can download a nightly release of the plug-in from the link below but be aware that the plug-in isn’t finished yet and may contain bugs.

thanks @djpaul for the instructions. We will write a patch hopefully until Friday.

I guess some things were misunderstood… to switch from right to left is easy done by css, but has nothing to do with the double sidebar conflict we need to avoid, if a plugin comes with a sidebar and we add one in the footer too.

I guess best is just to write the patch and check if it fits the needs.

To have an option page is a great idea, but more a feature for me than a bugfix. I’d like to concentrate on the basics first. Actually, to move the sidebar in the footer is one step to have options built in much more easy.

For the future, I believe the bbpress way of handling templates files is a good example and like I understood, the idea behind is that we will have no need of header, footer, sidebars and so on, we just deliver the content part and make themedesign much easier this way.

I’m interested in doing the same thing. Have you figured out a way of doing this without writing an SQL query?

I would be ok with hard coding the field I need to sort by.

My current query looks like this (default buddypress) but how can I have it look for a specific field value?
`$queryString = “type=alphabetical&action=alphabetical&per_page=150”;`

In WordPress I would use this `orderby=field_name` but thats not doing anything here…

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

@gregfielding : The APC Object Cache Backed (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/apc/) plugin seems to work with Buddypress.

For the future, if it would be appropriate for the bundled BuddyPress theme to have an options panel (with the same type of idea as twentyeleven), I think it could make sense. However, always keep in mind Decisions not options. But for BP 1.3, bearing in mind that we want to have a beta as soon as we can manage, I am not convinced there is enough development time*.

What are the options that you would propose to have in a theme options panel?

@boonebgorges I’m a pretty much advanced-level BP template wrangler at this point, but I am confused about the instructions for upgrading this, or even if it’s necessary. Everything seems to be working fine as it is, so I’m a little leery.

I’m using a custom theme I put together, and I’ve got the older BP Template pack enabled. I’ve made major customizations to most of the BP-specific template files in my theme in MyTheme/activity, /groups, /members and so on.

What I’m very unclear on is what the process would be in upgrading the template pack plugin, and what exactly is going to happen when (if) I do so.

I’d very much appreciate some detailed guidance on this. Thanks!

The iis.patch DID NOT work for me. I’ve looked everywhere for a solution. None yet. Hope someone can post an answer soon.
