Man, this makes very little sense to me.

I want to insulate all of my members from any WordPress panels. So far, THE only place I see the problem occurring is when a user types in a bad profile/password. In that case he/she is taken to the “wiggling” login page. I looked at a couple ajax login plugins, but they don’t really “replace” the default login.

Shouldn’t BP have an option to turn off the default login? Or maybe have it set up so that the default login widget is a pre-installed widget that could be removed/replaced?

this a fresh install. I installed wordpress 3.0.5 from Yahoo web hosting. Then it said new version is available i upgraded it to 3.1

Then I installed plugins. buddypress 1.2.8

    use the default buddypress theme.

Yahoo saves all the files in the blog folder (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes).

Buddypress folder was automatically saved or installed under wp-content/plugins

By default everything is enable, private messaging, extended profile and friend connections. I didnt change any settings.

There is a link for these features on the admin bar but the messages, profiles and friend connections will just redirect me to members directory. Although the address on the link shows the proper link to messages, profiles.

    Five stars!

Do not worry about the compatibility warning. There’s something wrong with the processing of the plugin page somewhere @boonebgorges

    1. Users join the site
Yes, whether you use BuddyPress or not.

    2. Ability to upload one image and other users comment on it.
    – If you post an image in blog Post/Page – members can comment on the image if you enable comments.
    – If you mean upload image via BuddyPress image plugin, then you should check out the free BP media plugins .
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/
    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/video-playlist-and-gallery-plugin/
I have only used BP Gallery (premium) and yes, you can comment on any single image, audio or video upload with this plugin.

    3. Friends and Followers
Yes. Friends is default install. Followers via BuddyPress Followers plugin

    4. Show recent uploads
Of images or media, right? In activity stream – not sure about the first two plugins; you have the option to show (or not) recent uploads in activity stream using BP Gallery.
In a sidebar widget or directory page – I believe all of the 3 mentioned plugins have this capability.

@djpaul, @boonebgorges, @hnla Is there someone who knows *why* this happens? Is it a matter of a wrongly coded url which anyone can fix? Or is it something that needs refactoring of the entire plugin? If it was easy we could start submitting the update plugins to the authors with the fixes, instead of waiting till the author fixes it. There are tons of people downloading these plugins, and without admin panels they appear not to be working. I’ve manually fixed up a few plugins, but saving options does not work on all of those. sadly

Scroll to the bottom of your WordPress sidebar where you’ll see a link labeled “Theme Settings”. Click on it, then under the “Buddypress” tab, you’ll see an option to turn the login sidebar on or off.

Rename, delete or move the /custom-community/ theme folder, then visit example.com/wp-admin/themes.php.

Thanks for pointing that out… I hadn’t even noticed that the background of entire xprofile groups was alternating rather than each row. :-(
The patch for bp-default/_inc/global.js works just fine on my install.

Deactivate BuddyPress and BP plugins, test registration and check DB wp_users table, does registration generate 2 rows for that new user? At this point, I do recommend restarting from scratch – delete htaccess file and drop DB tables and re-upload WP files manually i.e. via FTP or cpanel. – got to have a good solid WP/BP foundation moving forward.

“What versions of WP/BP are you using?” WordPress 3.0.1 / Buddypress 1.2.7

“You’re saying your found two rows per user in prefix_users table?” Yes..

“In those two rows per user, do they both have same email address and username? Are there any differences?” Yes, there are some differences…

    1. The user password looks to be encrypted differently for both rows.

    2. User status in the first row is “0” and the second row is “2”

    3. The first row has a user display name and the second row doesn’t.

Looks like your manual install is broken.

Try upgrading to 1.2.8, it will give you a fresh install of the plugin. If it does not fix it, delete buddypress, and download 1.2.7 again if you wish.

If the error does not go away once you upgrade, I’ll ask you further questions.

You can find the CSS for the alternate table rows in buddypress/default.css around line 888.

So, the plugin “WELCOME PACK”, written for YOU, and not working for this reason is not well-written?
I’ve read about the solution in other forums of changing “admin_menu” to “network_admin_menu” to make reappear the plugin menu, but it’s only there. You can’t change settings.
I tried this solution changing “options.php” to “../options.php” and the error changes, WordPress says that there’s no options file.
    Are you reading this?: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/welcome-pack/forum/topic/welcome-pack-not-working-after-latest-update/
@ZKWC even offered you money for the job, but you don’t give any answer.
I guess you don’t know about this change from admin_menu to network_admin_menu Or you should have told us to do it.
I’m not a programmer but I guess that you know the little change we have to do to save the settings in that options file, no?
What we have to do to get an answer from you?
    Please not:
-“wait for 1.3” (that could happen in october)
-“I need money” (I need money too, but I think that offering a free plugin, and when a lot of people is using it, request for money to maintain it, it’s not a good idea. Thinkin on your reputation)
    Sorry for my bad english.

I have both oEmbed and BuddyPress Links installed. They can both show external media. I’m wondering if they may conflict with each other or not? Hopefully BuddyPress Links is using oEmbed technics.

You will have to wait for a response from the plugin developer. Most likely if you are patient, he will add it to his list for a future release of the plugin.

Ok, you made me double-check a database ;-) Only one row per user.

    @v_andreev
    – What versions of WP/BP are you using?
    – Do you have any kind of membership plugin activated?
    – You’re saying your found two rows per user in prefix_users table? In those two rows per user, do they both have same email address and username? Better yet, what is/are the only difference/s between the two rows?
