Can you try activating the BuddyPress Default theme to see if these problems go away?

With the major changes between BP 1.2+ and BP 1.3 bleeding I see right now, could be some devs are waiting till after BP 1.3 stable to make “some time to work on it”

If your current theme already supports buddypress, you DO NOT NEED the template pack.

that plugin is *only* used if your theme does *not* have BP support. Likely that’s why you’re getting errors.

Last I heard on the Thesis camp was they were not interested in BP compatibility and were leaving it to their community members.

And yeah – what mercime said – dump the tables out fo the db and into the second blog.

tho if you’re using multsite, you do not need to do that. Just change what the default Buddypress blog is in wp-config.

Yep.

Buddypress does not make the blogs, though. WordPress does with multisite enabled. Buddypress just does the user profiles.

@KatieBen what have you tried to fix it? Does the wp-signup.php page work with BP turned off?

Can you give a link to your site so others can look?

For ratings the only one off hand I know of is one relating to forum posts (sorry): https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-rate-forum-posts/

I’d say thought the Achievements plugin goes above and beyond ratings and may be even better as an option: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/achievements/

Do you mean how to search forum topics? You can do that using the BuddyPress search. If you mean how to find in a group you can look under the group forum.

What about this as an option? https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-groupblog/ (not sure about how up to date it is as not tested myself).

If you wanted to replicate all the BP sections on each blog, you can do this:

Allow BuddyPress to function on multiple blogs of a WPMU installation, not just on one root blog:
`define ( ‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true );`

They still have to register at the main site.

Does not look like you’re using a BuddyPress compatible theme. The default TwentyTen theme is not BP compatible, out of the box.

Try making the your current, activated theme compatible with BuddyPress by using the BuddyPress Template Pack plugin:

Or, create a child theme for BuddyPress:

Either way, your theme must be BP compatible in order to utilize the BP features.

We installed the WP Super Captcha plugin on 3 different WP/BP high traffic sites and it cut the spam sign ups down by 80% immediately. Not a beautiful solution, by any means – but it does work somewhat. 80% is better than nothing.

Can be configured to show the captcha on the sign up page and login page – whichever you prefer, or both. Compliant for WordPress (with or without Multisite enabled) and BuddyPress configurations.

If you are not sure how to patch and you feel a little adventurous, make the changes manually:

If you have access to edit plugins, login to your WP dashboard and navigate to “Plugins > Editor” and select BuddyPress in the dropdown menu located near the top right corner, then edit the files mentioned in the patch.

Otherwise, open up your FTP program and make the edits mentioned in the patch.

**Be sure to make a backup of the files you are attempting to edit before you make any changes**

I have encountered this bug, as well – many times….typically when I have moved a WP/BP site from a localhost to a new domain – – or when I’ve assisted in the transfer of the site to a new host.

After banging my head for awhile – I resolved it by reinstalling the forums (easy – just click the Forum Setup in the BuddyPress section in your Dashboard. and click re-install) – then went into each group that has forums enabled, as admin – disabled the forums for that group, then re-enabled the forums for the group…after that, it worked.

Not sure if its a bug, or if this is the accepted solution – however, it’s what worked for me on three completely different sites where I experienced this particular problem.

Timely, yes (especially on a site with lots of Group forums) – but it worked.

Have you under BuddyPress > general settings – under your admin panel for WordPress turns on and configured your forum?

@mentions- currently do not show up in your notifications menu; I believe this might be included in BP 1.3 due early next year.

Can you try overwriting what is in your /buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/ folder from the manual package?

Do the buttons show up when you use the bp-default theme?
