I just started building a buddypress site. I have been looking and searching for hours for a plug-in that will allow users to upload a photo in their posts to a forum. I have already installed bbPress and Buddypress Album plug-ins but can;t seem to get them to work. I want the functionality of a Facebook wall type page where a user can upload and make a comment seamlessly and easily on a forum page. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi all,

I have an odd issue. Until very recently I had the Buddypress Admin Bar disabled on my site with “define(‘BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR’, true);” in my wp-config.php, and have recently decided to give it a go.

My registration page is at ohdratdigital.com/register, and sends a prospective user to a signup page. However, if I change ‘true’ to ‘false’, or remove the code, then enable ‘show bar to logged out members’, ohdratdigital.com/register takes users to the actual wordpress page /register that is linked to buddypress (it says ‘this is a test page for registration’, which I think I wrote myself when trying to get my head around BP as I installed).

Changing back immediately fixes the problem… I don’t understand!

I am using s2member and bbpress, and everything is up to date. If anyone has any ideas PLEASE let me know, because I’m tearing my hair out!

@Tina but isn’t it interesting that they supposedly have so many people keeping an eye open for spammers but so many important posts go unanswered. LOL I’m calling BS on that one. A completely unused Buddypress site is having new registrations and posts on average of every 5 minutes and sometimes less. But yet this site is virtually spam free. What’s the secret? Why can’t Akismet block the Buddypress spam?

Suggest you hire someone with server expertise if you’re talking about that scale. It’s cheaper than trying to scrape together advice from forums.

100k users, one at a time, is different from 100k users visiting your site at the same time. It’s a question of concurrency, really, and what your requirements are about server redundancy and failover.

Whatever runs WordPress at this level, will run BuddyPress.

I had enable BP multi blog enabled in wp-config, thus BuddyPress is automatically activated and configured at the site level.

I went ahead and dis-enabled BP multi blog and this put the BuddyPress control panel in the Network Admin site. There I was able to configure bbPress so that it worked.

Then I enabled BP multi blog and added sites. I now have separate bbPress forums on each site with the addition of BP Multi Network filtering.

Me either, Paul @djpaul. But it’s happening to all of our iPad and iPhone users. I’ve disabled all plugins (except BP) and same thing. They say say clicking on the upload button does nothing at all.

Hi guys,

Planning to start my blog network by using BuddyPress. Have a technical question about server/hosting. We will have 100K active users/blogs, what type of server do you think we need? Dedicated server? I did little research, they saying there are different type of MySQL database setup some can handle it some can not. I have no idea when it comes to server/hosting side. I want to rent a server that can handle 100K active users.

I would really appreciate your help.

I’ve done the following:
1. If you do not have access of PHP.ini file then add this to an .htaccess file of your domain:
php_value memory_limit 256M
2. Try to add this line to your wp-config.php file to increase allocated memory to PHP:
define(’WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);
3. Deleted the plugin folder

WP admin works! Was sweating blood. I’m too afraid to install this plugin now.

HI,
I’ve just installed the above plugin and clicked on ‘activate’ It returned a blank page. I logged out – logged back in – clicked on ‘edit this page’ at the bottom of my home page. Returns a blank page!

I’m completely blocked now from accessing my wordpress site. The only thing that works is the url still displays the site – but can’t do a thing!

Is this a virus? Has it buggered up completely my wordpress access to site managment? How can I get rid of this? Obviously will have to be done on the ISP Konsole side.

Please, please help urgent

Theme is: BuddyPress Default

When clicking on a tab of the menu – (not blog posts) currently all pages display the page name – which makes it look unprofessional. The contents of the page clearly indicate what the page should be – no need for a display of the page name. How does one ‘hide’ this? If deleting it is too complex for me then I’ll settle for just hiding the name.

You need to make your WordPress theme compatible with BuddyPress by installing the “BP Template Pack” plugin then go through Appearance > BP Compatibility.

I was also surprised to discover that when a user is marked as a spammer, no action is taken to delete or hide the messages they have sent from users.

When a user is marked as a spammer, surely Buddypress should prevent all other users from seeing messages they have sent? Can this be added to a future version?

Hi, I am using frisco theme for buddypress. I can’t seem to find my blog feed url so I could use it with feedburner? I have found my feed url which is, http://buddygalaxy.com/feed/atom/. But when I tried to create a feed url with feedburner I got this message:

Hi, I just installed BuddyPress on my site (http://thisizhot.com/annodomini/forums/) but I am having an issue. The page width is not enough to display the forum along with all the other pages for the buddypress properly. I want to resize the forum, groups, activity, members pages to a width of 917. Now my question is, is this possible? if so in what file do I change the width? I been looking for this all day long but I can’t seem to find the solution.

Theme BuddyPress Default with 0 Widgets
You are using WordPress 3.3.2.

I’ve installed the bb-press. (have latest buddypress version) Could not see forum tab on menu. Trouble-shooting answer was to disassociate the wordpress page. Now could see the forum tab on menu. Created a new forum and saved. But the forum menu tab when clicked just results in a blank page with the name ‘forums’ as the page title. Obviously can’t find the directory…

I’ve created a forum and this is the permalink (I shortened the last bit to read ‘ecap’)

Why are there two forum directories?

I can ‘view’ the forum from within the admin panel and this is the top:-

But there are no options to create a forum (so how can users create a forum? And of course the menu tab ‘forums’ when clicked just leads to a blank page.

Please help. Don’t know what is wrong. Thank you.

Hi,
I’m using the latest ver buddypress. I do not want any page titles to display – I do not want that huge gap of ‘white’ space at the top either – so if display is set to not display the white space will still eat up page space – in other words – my ‘default’ and ‘no sidebar(s) templates must never add code to display/hide a page title. It must be gone, really gone.
I’m not a css or html ‘person’, but I am IT literate. So if someone could please step me through (and assume you are talking to a first grader…) I can find the files, copy/paste whatever, and then change/delete code where necessary. I do not want to lose my changes when upgrading buddypress.
