According to JJJ, the new bbPress plugin will work well with BuddyPress 1.3; BP 1.3 is scheduled to come out sometime in the New Year.

You could probably use Boone’s plugin as a guide to create the RSS feed.
A RSS feed could be created with an activity stream loop that targets group forum topics.

You can also check out /buddypress/bp-activity/feeds/ and /buddypress/bp-activity.php to see how BuddyPress does it.

Since you’ve dug up a 3 month old post, the theme for the future 1.3 release has these switched to date now

for me the same thing not only on bp-default/index.php
even in single blog post at bp-default/single.php

Anyway +1 for @DJPaul suggestion.

Anybody make any headway on a global MU like system? Someone mentioned before about deploying like button across MU blogs then having some widget or template tags/short codes to display “most liked” last X number of hours/days on main blog. This would be powerful. I’d be willing to pay for it if anyone can do it.

The only way I know of is by using the Global Forum plugin from BuddyDev http://buddydev.com/plugins/global-forums/

There is a fee and I don’t know if it works with 1.2.6 or if it will work with the upcoming 1.2.7 release.

I loath the forum via groups set up. Our site is made up of mostly non-tech people(heck I’m not all savvy) and way too much stuff ends up getting posted as group updates by mistake.

I’m hoping that with the new bbPress/BuddyPress separate but integrated system this problem will be resolved.

All of that being said I still love BuddyPress and can imagine trying to do what we do without it.

I tried this method with Buddypress links, I want to make them my front page.

I got the links to show up on a custom page but the formatting is all screwed up and the share button seems to be broken. I think it is not loading the css file for the links or the added javascripts. How would I go about updating it so that it works properly?

This is what my custom template page looked like. I had to copy over the bp-links-default directory over to my-buddypress theme.

Once you have activated a BuddyPress-compatible theme, such as the packaged bp-default, you will see a Groups tab at the top of the main page. Click on it. You should then see a Create A Group button at the top of the Groups directory.

Activate forums in a given group at that group’s Admin > Group Settings.

I’ve already done some integrations with Facebook, Twitter, etc. I just need to send what I’ve done to Boone to integrate it. I’d just been waiting for some of the other integrations to send it to him.

You have a good point. I’ll unlock your thread. I suggest that you place a link back to this thread (for reference) and explain why you’re creating a new thread so that some other moderator does not do what I did!

As I stated above, the problem is not with the BuddyPress software, it is with the environment in which the buddypress.org website is hosted. It is a universal truth that websites will not allow you to upload files (like avatars) unless their permissions have been properly configured. In the case of buddypress.org, they are not (and they cannot be at the moment). It sounds like something similar is happening on your server.

However, is there anyway of having BuddyPress refreshing its activity streams? The above fix only works for updates or new posts AFTER it was implemented. All previous activities are showing their old content.
