Thanks for your advice about the appearance > theme editor. You’re already helping me with the other issue is also an another thread I made. I’m curious if you know of any video tutorials or anything like that because there are so many basics discussed on this forum that I don’t understand. For example, I don’t know how to make a bp-custom.php, I don’t know how to make a child theme, etc. When I google them, all I get is buddypress.org. Yet, while I’m here, I have people tell me to do these things, but I simply don’t know how. Any advice on how to learn the basics?
@tadpubco Looks like you only need to create three files header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php

Ohhhhh! Haha! I was looking for it, but couldnt find it. I thought I had violated the forum in some way. Thanks for the link, will post there, too.
When I go through the installation process, once I get to the last step, it gives me a HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error). wp-admin and the Dashboard becomes inaccessible, but the front end works fine.
I tried renaming the buddypress folder and the admin area works fine again. If I try to activate the plugin (with the differently named folder) I get the following:
Warning: require(/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-wpabstraction.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress1/bp-loader.php on line 68
I’ve even tried deleting the db tables and doing the activation fresh. Same result.
This is with the current version (3.3.1) and no other plugins installed.
Any suggestions?
@jaredvd – When i attempted to create a wiki awhile ago using a modified version of wiki lite I used the voodoopress guide (http://voodoopress.com/how-to-post-from-your-front-end-with-no-plugin/) and then changed the description textarea to use the wp_editor (https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_editor to get a front-end ‘create article’ page.
Just make sure you change the ‘post_type’ to incsub_wiki to turn the articles into wikis.
You will also probably want to wrap the form with a is_loggedin conditional.

Not quite a BuddyPress issue but more of Pagelines theme. You should check out their docs where you have to install the “BuddyPress for PageLines Plugin” on top of the BP Template Pack plugin. The activity stream and a few other pages are showing realy weird and are not drawing the sidebar

You can also see there is no admin bar, that happens on every buddypress enabled pages
It shows up fine on all other pages but anything that has anything to do with buddypress it does not
Hi after install buddy press don´t shows admin bar at the top (on user settings option is checked and when buddy press is not installed shows wordpress admin bar correctly) all of the buddypress functions works correctly but admin bar don´t shows on theme and on admin.

So I am trying to use Buddypress and Pagelines, and on my Buddypress pages, I can’t get a second column to come up, which is standard on all of my other Pagelines pages.
For example, http://www.jobcreatr.com/activity does not work with two columns (don’t worry about the spacing, I’m going to fix that with custom CSS). Like, where’s the first column? The main page (www.jobcreatr.com) does not have this problem

I just finished building my Buddypress site. There are some additional things I want to do, but I don’t know how to do them.
1. I do not want Buddypress’s “Name (required)” field to be editable. I installed S2Member, and created custom profile fields, and I was able to remove edit capabilities from them. However, members are still able to change that buddy press name field.
2. I do not want my homepage to have a blog feel. I want it to be a regular home page that I put text/ pictures on.
3. I would like a page dedicated to a member profile search. I want four search fields – First Name, Last Name, City, and State. I guess this would have to be tied into the S2Member plugin since I used it to add the additional profile fields First Name, Last Name, City, and State.
4. I would like an additional Activity tab where members only post pictures and a small comment, unlike their activity/timeline where they post anything they wish.
5. I would like the activity/timeline page to have a different color scheme than the rest of my site – white so that it’s easier on the eyes.
Can any of you help with this?

That search, in bp-default header.php, is within the site header area.
You seem to be talking about the adminbar which I dont think includes a search, though I seem to remember that there was one once…
It looks like you’re using a converted version of http://www.elegantthemes.com/gallery/aggregate/ which has a preview: http://www.elegantthemes.com/preview/Aggregate/ showing a search feature in their adminbar so maybe it is a theme option?

it does work but the items on the right hand side are cut off by the sidebar
have hade to put the code into some other pages not mentioned in the compatability part no3 to bring the sidebar up but the overall problem is the buddypress contents get cut on right hand side of ‘padder’

Well, if you try to login and you just click on the field “username” you’ll see what’s happening: razoncartografica.net works well, I mean, it allows you to enter text (your login name), as expected…
But, on the other hand, redebrasilis.net loginbar keeps redirecting you to the sing-up page from the very moment you put your cursor on…
Why does this happen????? How can I fix it?????

@mercime The DB files on the server match now.
We have un-installed and re-installed bp Forums for Groups but no change yet.
Perhaps the DB changes take a while to kick in? We’ll check again tomorrow and let you know.
