MemberWell, at least you finally figured what the problem was.

The tags widget I think it’s part of the Forums Extras Plugin. If you already have Forums Extras installed, you just have to activate the tags plugin on your plugins page. If not, get it here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/buddypress-group-forum-extras/
Cheers!

Andy Bailey
Participant@nuprn1 thanks! I found that after I posted the message.
I just need to prevent regular subscribers from creating a group. blog admins will be fine as they would have already gone through the paywall but I don’t want to let every single joeschmoe create any old group they want. I will see about editing the plugin to suit my needs,
thanks!

“You made a BP child theme to a theme that is not BP compatible?”
Yes. I made a child theme and added the BP capabilities. Which was one of the options Paul mentioned above.

Participant@alanchrishughes webpurify is now 100% BP compatible. You need to buy a $40 license but I’ve been using it for weeks and it works great. Their customer support is very good too!

Participant@alanchrishughes – try contacting the plugin dev and see if they can update the content filters for buddypress. the only profanity filter bp-ready i’ve seen is https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/webpurifytextreplace/ but that is a pay-for-solution
July 15, 2010 at 11:45 am #85722In reply to: How do you remove the copyright at the bottom?
rich! @ etiviti
Participantno default copyright message in BP
https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/branches/1.2/bp-themes/bp-default/footer.phpbut otherwise create a child theme file for footer.php

ParticipantI think Dwenaus might be away at the min as I haven’t seen him on in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know how to remove the ranking from his plugin in the main forum directory?

Participant@dlittle800 – no, the files this plugin generates won’t have any impact on BP working or not
@moreivyou – wow you have a lot of urls going on. good to know it works
I need update this plugin and especially get around the 50k mark. Would you mind sending me the url to your sitemap files?also i just setup the group forum for this plugin too

Participanti’m confused – do you want to restrict the group settings->enable forum option (which restrict group creation plugin can do) or restrict creating a new topic within the group forum? if the later – don’t forget this theme file as well https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/forum.php
July 15, 2010 at 9:12 am #85715In reply to: followers VS friends
@mercime
Participant@grosbouff There is the BP Followers Plugin by @apeatling for your reference
One difference between Friends and Followers is that Friends is in core while Followers feature needs the plugin to be activated.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-private-messages-for-followers-only/The other difference is Followers is ala Twitter following. The “follower” doesn’t need to be approved by the one he follows. While for “Friends” to connect completely friendship request must be approved by the other party.

ParticipantAdd to your theme’s style.css
div#item-header span.activity { display: none; }
This will also hide same in Group’s pagesEdit – ok @hnla that was fast

ParticipantI am also in need of this.Searching a lot but no success.I think real money would be great.Lets say advertisers want to target certaing groups then they need to go through a payment gateway and pay us money.If the groups would be ranked based on the activity and based on those ranks we can assign the amount the advertiser has to pay.Or it can be through a bidding process, lets say 10 people target a certain group and bid on the group then the bidder with highest average amount per day would be considered or something like this.Just a vague idea.I am not a developer, just an idea so that some developer can work on this if many people require this.

ParticipantHi Anton, no you didn’t miss something, I did … missed the limit “topic” in post because of title “Forum create only available to certain members”

Change line 38 in https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/single/group-header.php from
if ( bp_is_group_forum() && is_user_logged_in() && !bp_is_group_forum_topic() ) :
to
if ( bp_is_group_forum() && current_user_can(‘level_7’) && !bp_is_group_forum_topic() ) :I was thinking that with @nuprn1‘s plugin activated, one can also use a conditional to target group admin and group mod specifically

ParticipantThanks @nit3watch
Wouldn’t it be simple to hide the option “create a forum” from members so that only admins and moderators can create forums? What is the code to check? Is it is_group_admin or is_group_mod?

nit3watch
Participant@Anton, I beleive this will help you. Check the code link in the topic.
Replace current_user_can with only something a admin and mod can do, such as edit_post.. Check the user roles abilities.Edit: here’s a version for moderators: http://pastebin.com/YACKxvwn
