It seems to me , the problem is with the order when the custom field is saved and the post is published. If post is published before saving custom field(which happens because of auto revision mode turned on in wp), we will never be able to get the custom field data on save_post action. I am looking for some other action to hook it.
[/blockquote]This issue persists even after turning off auto-revision.

ParticipantOk got this back to the right section…
Original patch worked time wise the first time, then didn’t allow me to receive messages…
Tried altering the 7 files in the the 002 .diff file here: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2203
It ended stating that the messages sent were 10 years 6 months ago… Double checked to make sure I applied code correct.
Removed Code and now it’s back to saying private messeages, just sent, were sent 5 hours ago.June 4, 2010 at 6:49 pm #80697kaberi
ParticipantHmmm … I have other buddypress and wordpress mu plug ins, not much but few.
When I downgrade to Version 1.2.3 of buddypress things work okay.
But using the 1.2.4.1 version causes problem. Did they introduce some bug somewhere ? ( Maddening for me!)Have you got a working site with BOTH buddypress 1.2.4.1 and WordPress -mu-2.9.2 ? Any web link please ?

Keymaster@discotoast – Deactivate that Terms of Use 2 plugin and you should be able to register on your site.

KeymasterI’m running BP 1.2.4.1 and it’s working for me.

ParticipantBuddypress is activated sitewide. User uploaded photos show up across all activity streams. Except in wordpress mu blog posts and comments. Not sure whether this is a problem with the latest Buddypress.
Are you using the latest buddypress ?June 4, 2010 at 5:59 pm #80687r-a-y
KeymasterIf you activated BuddyPress sitewide, this should work across all sites.

Keymaster@nuprn1 – Ahh okay, I thought Nick was talking about this:
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/comment-reply-via-email-open-to-all/The “Post via Email” option you mentioned isn’t available in WPMU, which is what I have on my testbox.
Am wondering if this option is available in WP 3.0 in network mode?An interesting plugin idea indeed! The only thing I’m worried about is the email address that users will be sending to. It could get potentially hammered! I know this will definitely not work well on shared hosts.

ParticipantThanks. I have had some problems grasping the concept of the child theme… I’ve read a number of codex articles on it, but still don’t get it. Is there a more easy to understand article you can point me to? Again. Thanks for your help with all of this.

KeymasterIt’s not compatible with IE6. IE6 just dropped below 5% market share in the US, so it’s not a priority for BP devs to add compatibility for a poorly-designed and rendered browser.

ParticipantAndy’s solution was for WP, but it didn’t work for WPMU. For WP, there’s this plugin: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-disable-activation/ We’ve been working on an MU solution in this thread: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/i-would-like-to-disable-email-activation/?topic_page=1&num=15) However, haven’t quite gotten it to work right.

KeymasterIf you built a child theme from the default BP theme, then your changes will never get wiped out.
Something I forgot to mention last night is you can also use a customized language file to make changes to the tab names:

ParticipantI’d say we’ll have a full release ready to post to the plugin repo in 2 or 3 weeks. Maybe sooner.

ParticipantIs this post by Andy Peatling (“
No firstname/lastname because this does not work for a lot of international users.
“) still the official position or have things moved on?Just want to note that if it is, it seems a bit rash to me. Loads of internationalized websites do have this basic distinction, whole disciplines (academia) are built on it. Besides, alphabetical ordering of members is virtually meaningless without it.

ParticipantBrajesh Singh at BuddyDev.com has a plugin to do just that: http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-recent-profile-visitors-plugin/
It’s a premium plugin, so you’d have to sign up as a member of his site to get it (membership = $30/3 months). The fee is worth every penny though: you’ll find a LOT of other useful plugins.
June 4, 2010 at 4:20 pm #80665In reply to: Hide Admin
Mark
ParticipantSocialpreneur has a nice snippet here that makes it easy to hide the admin from the members list assuming you know the admin’s login name.
Place this in your bp-custom.php:
function my_bp_member_user_login() {
echo my_bp_get_member_user_login();
}
function my_bp_get_member_user_login() {
global $members_template;
return apply_filters( 'my_bp_get_member_user_login', $members_template->member->user_login );
}
Then in your members-loop.php file, place this just below the while statement (wrapped in php tags!):
if ( my_bp_get_member_user_login() == 'admin' ) continue ;(Supposing your admin’s login is ‘admin’.)

VampireSpace.com
ParticipantI also tried this fix but that code does not exist in my file.
bp-core-avatars.php line 389
Replace
if ( !$path = get_option( ‘upload_path’ ) )
$path = WP_CONTENT_DIR . ‘/uploads’;
With:
if ( !$path = get_option( ‘upload_path’ ) )
$path = WP_CONTENT_DIR . ‘/uploads’;
else
$path = ABSPATH . $path;
and then in “Settings >> Miscellaneous” simply kept “Store uploads in this folder” as wp-content/uploads and in “Full URL path to files” added the full url path of the uploads folder: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads

MemberIf you’re looking for a plugin which allows members to customize their profile pages in much the same way as Ning (but without the drag and drop of page elements) there is a premium Advanced Profiles plugin available from http://www.social-network-solutions.com/BuddyPress
It’s built by the same team who’ve developed Member Map and Listings apps from Ning (which I use on that platform), and I’m now using it on two BP networks. Members seem to use it intuitively, and the customer support is great. I know a lot of us either can’t afford/feel uncomfortable about paying for plugins, but it certainly works well.
