I would like my members to use activity stream updates as the would blog posts. One big problem is the lack of “title” and “tag” fields.
Here on this forum, there are title and tag fields – has anyone tried adding these to activity stream updates?
Topic: can’t activate buddypress
can anyone help me with this …. my server was crashing yesterday and when we got it back up i go to one of my buddypress sites and get nothing but a blank white screen … so i deactivated all my plugins on it ..got into the dashboard tried to activate buddypress and it just won’t activate ….. its a multi site config with only 1 blog ….. its on a dedicated server latest version of buddypress with wordpress 3.0.5 …any suggestions would be greatly appreciated trying everything
After some fiddling, copying, more fiddling, I think I’ve got a working reCaptcha code. As it is, you just put this code in your theme’s functions.php file (I just made a child theme of the bp-default), edit the code to add a link to the recaptchalib.php file (get it here: http://code.google.com/p/recaptcha/downloads/list?q=label:phplib-Latest ) and your public and private keys, and you’re good to go. Here’s the code:

@pinhit Kenny this is what I mentioned on your other thread and is now an example of where there are too many posts revolving around the same question

This solution (read the whole thread linked to above for full understanding) will work to limit access to directories or in the version above it permits access to specific pages and if not in that list of allowed directs to the signup page. I think this is your best solution rather than to try and restrict drilled down aspects of pages.I’ll close the other thread as it is redundant now.
WP 3.1.2 (multisite with subdirectories) + BP 1.2.8. When I try to modify *anything* about the theme of a sub-site (header, menus, widgets etc) I need to turn off BP before, or the whole thing doesn’t work. E.g. if I try to change the header image without turning off BP, the images won’t load and the change won’t happen. Even the example images are not shown on the header admin page. If I try to change widgets, the dashboard shows the *main* site widgets and reports some errors. If I turn off BP, make the changes and reactivate BP, all seems OK.
Is this normal or at least a known problem? May it depend on my themes setup (main site theme: a BuddyPress child theme; sub-site theme: twentyten or other wp standard theme)?Umm… this is your 3rd post asking pretty much the same question that was answered here: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/members-privacy-how-can-i-hide-members-profiles/ Creating multiple posts on the same topic isn’t going to get you help any faster; it just tends to clutter up the forum.
The conditional code provided in the thread I linked to above will get you what you want. It’s now a matter of learning about Buddypress file/template structure, and educating yourself on how WordPress and Buddypress work to understand how and where to use the code snippet. To help in this regard, links were also provided to the main help sites (codex) for both WP and BP in one of your earlier posts, along with a suggestion by hnla for a site where you can get basic coding help.
Time to hunker down and get your hands a bit dirty! Besides, learning new stuff can be a lot of fun
