Member albums is not a feature of BP Album + however it is a feature of the next big release (1.9), you can download a nightly release of the plug-in from the link below but be aware that the plug-in isn’t finished yet and may contain bugs.

thanks @djpaul for the instructions. We will write a patch hopefully until Friday.
I guess some things were misunderstood… to switch from right to left is easy done by css, but has nothing to do with the double sidebar conflict we need to avoid, if a plugin comes with a sidebar and we add one in the footer too.
I guess best is just to write the patch and check if it fits the needs.
To have an option page is a great idea, but more a feature for me than a bugfix. I’d like to concentrate on the basics first. Actually, to move the sidebar in the footer is one step to have options built in much more easy.
For the future, I believe the bbpress way of handling templates files is a good example and like I understood, the idea behind is that we will have no need of header, footer, sidebars and so on, we just deliver the content part and make themedesign much easier this way.

I could really use some help in troubleshooting a fatal error I am getting in buddypress. When you post a new topic under forums there is the following fatal error that comes up and there is not a submit button:
Fatal error: Call to a member function user_topics() on a non-object in/home/content/43/7750343/html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-templatetags.php on line 223
I am using a buddypress compatibly theme – WP Framework

I would be ok with hard coding the field I need to sort by.
My current query looks like this (default buddypress) but how can I have it look for a specific field value?

In WordPress I would use this `orderby=field_name` but thats not doing anything here…

@gregfielding : The APC Object Cache Backed (https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/apc/) plugin seems to work with Buddypress.
For the future, if it would be appropriate for the bundled BuddyPress theme to have an options panel (with the same type of idea as twentyeleven), I think it could make sense. However, always keep in mind Decisions not options. But for BP 1.3, bearing in mind that we want to have a beta as soon as we can manage, I am not convinced there is enough development time*.
What are the options that you would propose to have in a theme options panel?

@boonebgorges I’m a pretty much advanced-level BP template wrangler at this point, but I am confused about the instructions for upgrading this, or even if it’s necessary. Everything seems to be working fine as it is, so I’m a little leery.
I’m using a custom theme I put together, and I’ve got the older BP Template pack enabled. I’ve made major customizations to most of the BP-specific template files in my theme in MyTheme/activity, /groups, /members and so on.
What I’m very unclear on is what the process would be in upgrading the template pack plugin, and what exactly is going to happen when (if) I do so.

Trying to get Buddypress to work on my Block theme wp site (from organicthemes.com) and it’s giving me an absolutely awful headache. I’m using the BuddyPress Template Pack and have made it to Step 3, and then am stuck.
The margins on my page are definitely messed up– it’s a theme with a left sidebar and what’s happening is that all of the content is being pushed down below the sidebar, leaving a blank space next to the sidebar in the main body, where the content should be.

Any ideas how to adjust for BP compatibility? I’m about at the end of my rope and need to get this polished and ready to go in 24 hours! I’ve considered creating a child theme but since the theme isn’t mine, I don’t think I can/should do that.

Thanks for the links. It’s some good information on setting up CDN, but they don’t address caching and Buddypress.
From the bp-tricks article:

The iis.patch DID NOT work for me. I’ve looked everywhere for a solution. None yet. Hope someone can post an answer soon.

I just checked my own theme for this , and as you said it doesn’t list any folders so I can’t locate mine within wordpress either.
I edit my files threw cpanel. Did you edit your files like instructed?
Is it possible for someone to put together a detailed guide on what settings should be used?
I know mileage may very depending on your hosting solution, but if someone could cover what settings effect BP that would be great.
W3TC, SuperCache and other caching plugins do work with BP. What doesn’t work is object caching, like memcached. At least, not yet.
I kid you not, this plugin works. There are some warnings on the authors website about sub-domain multisite installs, so i’ve only got it on my main blog. But my spam is way down. Nothing in the last 7 hours. Unheard of for me.

The BP docs on Improving Performance basically say you need to implement caching, but I have not been able to find anywhere on this site (or others) a caching solution that works with BP. There are lots of posts on this subject here, but none clearly resolve the issue.

Yes…lots of the links don’t work…that’s why I posted this…….I’m not putting index.php……..its happening automatically when I create a page and the ONLY pages that display properly are the ones I created.
Like hnla said…my hosting is no good so I’ll need to move the rest of my sites to hostgator that I want to use buddypress on them

Does anyone know how to change the button text in the core member functionality. For example I want to change “Send Private Message” to “Trade Love Note”. This is after two users are friends.
Is it done in MyPHPadmin or in a file in the ‘wp-content’ folder?
