MemberThank you all. Thank you itoube for the link, it gave me more idea on de-activating plugins.
.
If anyone has trouble wit the sql check the following:
SELECT * FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = 'active_plugins';Yes the problem was with a plugin – Postie
I had kept this one enabled all the time. When I again re-checked with my local installation I found the issue.
I apologize for being hasty

Well, it works cool now.

Steps followed:
- Disabled all plugins (inlcuding Postie)
- Installed Bbpress
- Applied bbpress theme
- Enabled (postie)
Thank you all for your time..

ParticipantThe upgrade from 1.x.x to 1.2 can break your theme, because previous themes are completely compatible with 1.2 What you try is installing the backwards compatibility plugin.
I also had many issues when I went through this process. You could even try completely removing Buddypress plugin and then reinstalling it and reactivating it. (back up your themes first though)

ParticipantTry changing the theme to Kubrick and see if you still get the white screen, then it might be a theme related issue.

KeymasterYou should upgrade to BP 1.1.3, before upgrading to BP 1.2.1.

Participant@Dwenaus Nevermind, I just fount the Rate Forum Posts settings under the Buddypress menu in the WP back-end. That seems like a natural place to me to put setting for Buddypress plugins, but this is the first one I’ve installed to do that — the other’s I’ve tried all add their specific settings under the general Settings area. Thanks again for the great work.

ParticipantI had this one installed by Andrew over at the premium site some time ago:
/*
Plugin Name: WordPress MU Domain Mapping
Plugin URI: http://ocaoimh.ie/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping/
Description: Map any blog on a WordPress MU website to another domain.
Version: 0.4.3
Author: Donncha O Caoimh
Author URI: http://ocaoimh.ie/
*/
domain mapping works everywhere, just not on buddypress pages.
Well.. it works, but the problem is that buddypress is picking up the subdomain instead of the mapped domain in all of the activity stream, profile, etc… links.
If I am on any page not belonging to buddypress, then the url’s are correctly pointing to the mapped domain.

MemberHas there been any resolution to this? I just did a fresh install of wpmu and buddypress (from the plugin install screen) and the list is always empty. I do have friends, so I’m not sure what going on.

ModeratorI suggest the profile Post Rating: be placed under the avatar. It’s a bit wonky and hidden where its at.

ParticipantGreat plugin, @Dwenaus ! I just upgraded, and it’s working fine, but you mention “admin options” and the Readme says, “admin screen to change karma levels, and post highligting [sic] and diminishing values”, but I can’t seem to find the admin options. Is there a admin page in the WP backend, or just a config file. Thanks.

Participant‘deactivating’ a plugin doesn’t always quite cut it. It’s worth completely removing plugins from the plugin folder (delete, move elsewhere) and then add them back in one by one to activate.

ParticipantOK. I’m getting the same results as t’others (OzPoker, etc). I’m just getting a BP/WP-MU site going with WPMU 2.9.1 and BP 1.2. Auto-join-goups is the only plugin active (bar BuddyPress). Clicking on the ‘edit’ in Site Admin : Profile -> Groups Link just dumps me back to the blog admin. I have renamed auto-join-groups to bn-auto-join groups to no avail. I have a single group already created.
I grepped bn-auto-join-group.php and found ‘hard’ links on lines 23, 88, and 122. It doesn’t strike me that this is actually the issue here.
Thanks for any help offered.
Cheers
Mark

KeymasterIt’s feasible, but I wouldn’t bundle it with this plugin.
I’ll probably create an “Embed” plugin pack to extend the list of website providers.
Don’t know if I’ll add uStream and TED support to this new plugin pack though.

Participant@r-a-y – thanks for your help. I don’t feel confident playing around with the code

Can you add uStream and TED to your next version, or is that not feasible?
Thank you.

KeymasterEdit the blog registration out of the theme.
Copy /bp-themes/registration/register.php to your child theme and edit accordingly.
If you don’t have a child theme, read up on it here:

KeymasterTry this plugin:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-provider/
It seems to only work for images though. Contact the plugin author to ask for video support.
You’d also need to add your site to WP’s oEmbed whitelist, read this:

ParticipantScenario:
1. User uploads a video to their blog on my wpmu install. (could be subdomain blog or domain mapped blog)
2. Another user sees the video on another users blog and wants to embed it into either their group/forum or activity stream.
Brings up the question:
How do you ‘whitelist’ the wpmu install so that any of my user blogs are ‘pre-approved’ for oembed so the above scenario works?
March 5, 2010 at 7:29 pm #66921In reply to: External and Group use of bbPress
r-a-y
KeymasterIt does not work to use a standalone forum because then you lose all the group making aspects of Buddypress.
You do not lose all group making aspects by using this approach.
You can use both BP group forums and your external version of bbPress at the same time.
There will be some duplication in your external version of bbPress. You’ll need to find a way to address this issue. One way is to hide the group forums in your external bbPress. I did a writeup on this a few weeks ago; I’ll provide the link to those who want to read it.
