ParticipantThanks – went into the site url/wp-admin and the page loaded.
Then “Site Admin > Themes” menu. Finally, activate the BuddyPress default theme in “Appearance > Themes”

ParticipantHaving a similar “blank site” issue as @danbucher. I can’t even login on my site…just the blank screen.
– Currently running wpmu to 2.8.4a
– Manualy installed buddypress 1.1
– Delete the /wp-content/bp-themes/ folder and moved the /bp-default/ and /bp-sn-parent/ folders
My error_log says: “[03-Oct-2009 22:54:13] PHP Warning: require(BP_PLUGIN_DIR/bp-core/bp-core-signup.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/fashion5/public_html/wp-content/themes/denis_template/functions.php on line 70″
Assume that I need to direct the admin page theme to the BuddyPress Default 1.1 theme. But not sure how to do this since I have a blank site.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Participanti’m giving up on buddypress until it can make it from install.
i spend 4 days on this and it seems i am only crying about this
i did not expect to have a broken website that i would have to debug
I appreciate the help and effort but i feel like all i am doing is complaining about something no one cares about
even my trac ticket was closed as a none issue when clearly I have a broken site.
I guess i do not know how to set up buddpress1.1

ParticipantI did answer the questions, i event posted the details in the previous post.
MU 2.5.4
BP 1.1
I do not know what else to do,
Buddpress 1.0 works fine with no issues, have the issue with buddpress 1.1
I am willing to provide FTP access so you can see that some else needs to be done because it can not be done with the steps provided by you or in the readme file.
why do i feel like i am the only having this issue , yet if i look around there are others who are facing difficulties installing BP 1.1
I woudl like to see you do this and make it work as you noted without having to do any additional steps, do not be suprise if you reach the same results i did with a working homepage and broken inner pages.

oracleappscommunity has just created a ticket. You can add more to the ticket if you feel that it will help isolate the bug.

ParticipantThe is a filter that needs to be added to wpmu to resolve this issue. There is already a ticket that discusses this:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1103
That buddypress ticket includes a link to this ticket in for wpmu:

ParticipantAnd I gave the answer in that same thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-says-themes-are-missing-but-they-arent#post-25240
If you want to learn more about why the theme architecture was changed, you can read this forum sticky: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/details-about-the-new-theme-architecture
Or, read this blog post by Andy: https://buddypress.org/blog/news/the-new-buddypress-theme-architecture/

ParticipantIt will not get fixed if someone does not take the time to post a new ticket to Trac.
We cannot monitor the mention of all possible bugs in all forum threads. So, whenever you think you have discovered an issue, post in the proper forum first. After a little discussion, if it appears that it could very well be a bug, then create new ticket in Trac. Provide as much detail as you can so that the bug can be reproduced and isolated.
You log into Trac using the same login credentials as you do for the BuddyPress forums.

ParticipantI’ve just faced this same question in this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/buddypress-says-themes-are-missing-but-they-arent
The answer seems to be yes, but it feels like quite a convoluted process. I understand the ethos from a design standpoint as to why they want a Buddypress theme used as the primary theme on ones WordPress site, but I really feel that this is an inflexible approach for those who have well-established WordPress sites already active.

ParticipantThere’s a Codex article:
https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/upgrading-a-buddypress-1-0-theme-for-buddypress-1-1/
Scroll down to the section entitled “I’ve used a WordPress theme for my blog with the default BuddyPress member themeâ€.

ParticipantIs there a tutorial online that can assist me with this? Or alternatively, is there a workaround for the issues I was facing with the user registration glitch I was having using the 1.0.1 Default theme with Buddypress 1.1? Everything was running very smoothly with 1.0.1 with the exception of the user registration.

KeymasterYou can use any theme you want on your WPMU install. But you will need to do work to customise it to support BuddyPress.

ParticipantDoes this mean that the Default theme must now be used as the primary Theme on a site?
Previously, I was able to use a standard WordPress theme (vita) and link to my Community (Buddypress, using the 1.0.1 Default theme). From what I can see now though, if I want to use the Buddypress 1.1 Default theme, it needs to be activated as the primary theme. Is there any way around this? If not, this is a frustrating development indeed….

ParticipantThanks for the Help DJPaul. But, this now leads to a new problem for me.
When selecting BuddyPress Default 1.1 as my theme in General Settings, I press to Save Settings, but each time it reverts to the BuddyPress Social Network Parent Theme 1.1.
What manner of witchcraft is at play here?
