I was wondering if it’s possible to make BuddyPress have privacy settings for updates. Like I might want to post someone, but only to my friends’ activity stream, and not to the entire site. I’ve looked around for a plugin without much success, any ideas?
Built a custom registration plugin for a client, only to realize that they have BuddyPress running. My registration hooks aren’t working (haha) mostly because I think BuddyPress has taken over the process. In this plugin, I prompt the user to enter information in about their gender, current country, and most important category of content, then i store all that info in wp_usermeta.
Would it be best to just trash what I have and use BuddyPress for this information, and if so, will BuddyPress let me do this kind of thing? Or can I just run my stuff by attaching to the appropriate BuddyPress hook instead of register_form (for the register form) and user_register (for adding info to the wp_usermeta table…

Topic: Creating Groups and Users
Recently installed Buddypress on a new version of WordPress, I used the Buddy press template pack so I could use my own theme.
The only problem I have is I can not create new groups or users, when I fill out the first page for a new group for example, and I click submit it never goes to the second step it just reloads the same page with the fields blank.
I check the database and the information never makes it to the database, does anyone have an answer for this?
everything works fine with the default theme though. but with my custom theme, none of the BP pages work. did buddypress change up a bunch of the codex? what should i check in my theme? its modified from cosmicbuddy. homegrown4x4s.com

ok, i installed wordpress, put in buddypress, so ez, so nice!
Nice ends quickly. Trying to add plugs i find many dont work or even come close to explaining how to use them! except for main page I cant have comments or posts for visitors to leave? I could of made a simple static site and not have to put up with all this.. I am not asking for alot, any real dynamic site you see nowdays has it where on every page or post you can leave comments that actually show on the page.. this helps to have the next visitor leave a comment, mabe join the site… its a very simple concept but for the life of me i cant get this engine to do any of this…. oh, i get on main page posts and hidden commments but common.. this engine cant be this big and not be able to do these basic things? what am i missing?

About AVATAR System , first, i had a problem with crop avatar system. After done some research, found that many others also have the same and still unsolved (as i know) . So i decided to let the members knows the fix size of avatar (which i know its really bad way but i have no idea what to do) , but now i got new one, after i upgrade serveral plug-in s(my fault that im not sure which one is the first update before it caused,between jet event, favicon rotater,catablog), i CANNOT EVEN BROWSE ANY IMAGE , i mean the browse function is gone, righ now , if i go to profile and change avatar , i will get only message about introducing gravatar , and also no avatar upload page for registering users too!, really big problem for me !second, i got trouble with e-mail activation feature, when register process done and got activation e-mail, i go through that link(via mail) and its appears normally , but after sign in, i got error about invalid activation code ! and show users to try to type password code, but its still cannot solve this , but you logged in since you signing in, and from some research again, found one topic that shows how to solve this one by install mail from plugin, which i done it and this ploblem is gone for a while , but now its happened again! i try removed and re-installed this plug-in, but right now it cant help me ! not sure this cause links to the avatar problem or not , right now i don’t know what to do and the time is running out, so any suggest please?

for the record If I’m upset or feel real admonishment is necessary it will be very plain and clear I will always say so in no uncertain terms, the above wasn’t so it was gentle-ish chiding.
I was inspired this morning to express my gratitude and thanks not only to the developers of BuddyPress and the various and sundry plugins but to all of you participating in this community who take time out of your day to put in your 2 cents worth, help us learn the deeper concepts and overcome challenges we encounter.
Lord knows, I’ve dumped a bunch of questions here and received a ton of helpful advice.
