Participantburtadsit, I am totally confused and brain dead.
Excuse my ignorance.
Here are my paths:
wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-member/
wp-content/themes/buddypress-home/
From install instructions:
Move the “buddypress-home†folder to “wp-content/themes/†and move the “member-themes†folder to “wp-contentâ€.
You should now have the following folder locations “wp-content/themes/buddypress-home†and “wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-homeâ€.
How does buddypress-home get in both paths? See, I’m brain dead.

Participantgood arturo, i think i’ll release my code on my blog http://notsecurity.com and there i’ll publicize it
I don’t write code for others, i write code for me, then, if buddypressers use it, good, isn’t it ?I’m watching on register plus, i think it’s a good plugin, is it released under gpl ? I’ll see that, bye!

ParticipantOnce again. You have a config problem. This is the same path you mentioned in another message as having a different problem. I explained there also that:
/wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/…
Is not a valid path for bp.
The only thing under /wp-content/member-themes is /wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-member/…

MemberI keep getting the same answer everywhere. Maybe I should explain better.
It does not matter who I log in as. I can only edit the last post that I made on every account. The admin can edit all ADMIN posts but only the last post on all other accounts.
I am sure that it is a wordpress problem and not buddypress but I was wondering if anyone has ever seen this.
I already tried re-installing wordpress and I get the same error.

ParticipantBoy, I thought this was going to be a go until I got this: when trying to create a group:
Warning: require_once(/home/ramona/public_html/wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/index.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/ramona/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 822
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/ramona/public_html/wp-content/member-themes/buddypress-home/index.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/ramona/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 822
I’m logged into buddypress as the admin
I just installed fresh this morning – buddypress-combo
Fresh install of bbpress-1.0-alpha-4
Fresh install of wpmu trunk r1574
As a side note I also got an error trying to access user account, but I’ve posted that elsewhere here.
It looks like it’s almost pudding, but not quite. What am I missing?

ParticipantOK, the problem is with bp-groups.php. When this file is present, the site is blank – when it is removed, the site reappears.
Is this a bug or does BP require a WPMU subdomain installation?
Thanks
Ian

ParticipantAn update on this problem…
Installing BP on a WPMU installation configured for subdomains works but installing it on a subdirectory WPMU installation doesn’t work. On both of these installations WPMU is installed in the site root.
Does this mean that BP cannot be used with subdirectory WPMU installations?
Thanks
Ian

Participantnicola if you create this plugin and want to publicize on BuddyPress Italy site u’re welcome.
Another member of BP IT staff is coding a plugin to invite friends from other social network and contact from the mail account like gmail, msn, ecc.

ParticipantI was thinking kind of how gmail, in its early days, gave each new users 100 invites to send to people and you could only join the network through the invites.
I found this plugin for regular WP installs, Release Plus, https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/register-plus/, that has a lot of the functionality I’m thinking about but doesn’t mesh with Andy’s invite system. Would be great to have something that plays nice with BuddyPress.

ParticipantI’ve been looking around in the css files.
In buddypress-home > css, I found custom-sample.css. The comment in the file says to rename it as custom.css and put style changes in that file.
This way style changes will be preserved even while updating the buddypress-home theme.
This is the answer I needed and I’m posting it in case it will help someone else too. Thanks, Andy, for enabling this through your file structure.

MemberIt’s still not working.
For example, when I go here:
http://blogpeoria.org/members/admin/
there is no style sheet.
I have looked all over the BuddyPress files for every css and js file and changed the permission to 755.
Any particular place I should be looking?

MemberI updated to 721 this morning, hoping to get the group forums running. They appear of course, but won’t post a new topic – the generic message “There was an error posting that topic.” appears, which doesn’t help me troubleshoot. Reading through the thread here, I’m not much clearer on the solution.
WPMU, BBPress, and BuddyPress all installed and running, with integrated logins (the whole salt thing).
I’m wondering if I should have something different entered in the “Group Forum Settings.” I started with the ‘admin’ username and password, which is set to “Key Master” rights in bbPress. I then tried it with a different username set to “Administrator” rights in bbPress, but still no forum joy.
Any pointers on this? I need a pinch more black art here…

Michael Torbert
ParticipantSo here’s the weird thing now. I tried registering on the site with different email addresses; including hotmail, gmail, yahoo, ones I host, and ones hosted at various hosting companies. None of them receive and email. If I grab the activation key from the database and manually type in the activation URL, then that user is activated and then sent the activation email, along with any followup emails.
I had two friends try it, and it worked perfectly for both of them.
I got a hosting account the other day with asmallorange just to play with buddypress, so I’m not able to check the mail logs without submitting a support ticket to their tech support, so I have no clue whether the emails in question are actually leaving the server.

ParticipantThe ‘news’ button only works if the home theme is running on blog id 1. Sounds like it isn’t. You have to hack some stuff to get it to work. If you are comfortable changing the code in the home theme then it’s here:
if ( $current_blog->blog_id > 1 )
return false;lines 59/50 in themes/buddypress-home/functions.php. Comment those out and news works.

ParticipantYep, got the connection problems solved but probably won’t have time to test much today. I see what you’re saying but we’re integrating WordPress and bbPress and need the cookies to sync. If we can get everything talking properly between WPMU and bbPress it will make any problems we encounter BuddyPress specific. I’m not sure if the plugin works with WPMU, I’m assuming it does but it doesn’t specify either way.

ParticipantWell. I spend a lot of hours this weekend and i found out: trunk r664 + bbpress alpha 3 + wpmu trunk 1574 works for me an the forum works for new groups (not for the old one). If i update to the latest buddypress trunk (r682), i can´t post in to a forum – and i get no error messages. Nothing happens also with bbpress alpa 4 and the latest buddypress trunk (r682).
