We need to hire someone for some buddypress customization / mu customization and plugin creation.
Can we post this in one of the forums? If so, which one?
Thanks!
I’m using the BuddyPress default home theme and I would like to know if there is a way I can make it to where you can’t see anything posted to the site until a user log’s in. Basically when they enter my URL, I want it to take them to a login page where they have to be a member in order to login and see anything, just like it is on myspace or facebook. Does this exist already or is this something I’m going to have to do on my own?
When you make the page, could you post a link for us lazy people that just want to baste in your glory?
this looks sweet! Looking forward to it!
I would like to create a link at the top right corner of the main screen next to the Home, Blog, Members, Groups, Blogs links in the top right corner of the main social network theme page. I have a standalone photo gallery that I’d like to provide a link to there. Does anyone know how I can add that button up there? Thanks
They make one called Gallery and Gallery 2 which is a standalone and an integrated gallery that you can download from here http://gallery.menalto.com/
I use this integrated into my drupal install page, but I want one that is integrated into buddypress, not a standalone one. I can just make a link to my Gallery standalone, but I want one that is integrated into BuddyPress. Anyone know of one?
Hi! I have so many problems! and I need help! please!
Problems with buddypress in Localhost
Thanks!
Has anyone found a chat plugin that integrates with BuddyPress profiles?
Well, I found it! You can select whatever page you want as your entry screen in Administration > Settings > Reading.
Here’s the page (which needs updating) in the WordPress Codex: https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page
Now I just need to build the page!
(am now marking this resolved)
I would like to create an entry screen for my buddypress community, so that users have to login/register in order to see the internal content.
The challenge is that I can’t figure out what to name the file so that it is pulled first when the URL is entered. I don’t want to change the names of the rest of the files in the bphome theme.
Also, I’d like to answer this question as it relates to other WP themes (like P2).
Any thoughts?
I have a few questions.
1. How Do you share tags and category’s across all your sub-blogs and homeblog?
2. Can you allow picture from blog post on “Recent Blog Posts” instead of the picture of who posted it.
3. Can you Change the Icon of the blog in the buddypress system?
@JeffSayre: the problem was first discovered on a running install with 10 blogs (which is currently crippled because of different languages). I’m thinking about creating a separate plugin with some regexp support so it’ll filter out the basic language for non-qtranslate enabled blogs.
With the first test install, not everything didn’t work like specified because I was using different domains. After I needed to play with a development version on live domains for that, for swift periods so those changes wouldn’t interrupt too much of the normal services.
Since the test install didn’t work under a test-domain, I needed to do it this ackward way, which required more time. Now I’m again porting the entire buddypress template towards the one I’m currently having installed…
Still, the qtranslate is a big miss, since it is currently causing havoc on the main “hotsite” and also for those with bi-langual articles…
OK. See: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/723 with the latest workaround with your problem fixed also. ‘wire_patch_three.patch’
That’s great . Can you tweet from wire to twitter
Need to reply to followers
Need to group followers
add tinyurl
add twitpic api
add facebook api
I have installed a new wordpress 2.7.1 and buddypress 1.0 for testing this problem.
There are no other plugins running. Just a clean installation with buddypress.

I used the wire_patch_too.patch added by burtadsit.
It’s this Ticket http://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/723
In the wp-config.php I insert all the slug rewrites:
define( ‘BP_MEMBERS_SLUG’, ‘mitglieder’ );
define( ‘BP_FRIENDS_SLUG’, ‘freunde’ );
define( ‘BP_WIRE_SLUG’, ‘pinnwand’ );
define( ‘BP_GROUPS_SLUG’, ‘gruppen’ );
What did I wrong? Because after the changes, the wire in groups not working any more.
I did this test because I thought it’s one of the plugins I’m using. but I have the same bug in a clean installation.
I need help with this. Looking forward…
I’ve downloaded this plugin from here: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invitefriends-plug-in/
I use BP 1.0.
1) unzipped to /wp-content/mu-plugins/ folder and there’s no Invite Friends section in Settings panel.
2) unzipped to /wp-content/plugins/buddypress/ folder and the same thing here, there’s no Invite Friends section in Settins panel.
What am I doing wrong?
1) wrong forum – this is nothing to do with buddypress
2) I think you get that message if a logged in user visits wp-activate.php or follows the email reactivation link a second time.
Awesome!
1 thing I have been looking for is a plugin that displays twitter search results well. If you see my buddypress install at http://theindianstartup.com the right column has a twitter search RSS feed, which gives the right results but looks very crappy. This is because, each tweet is pulled in like a link instead of text. I have been trying to figure out a solution to this but I dont code well.
I am sure a lot of buddypress websites might want to pull in twitter search feeds concerning their niche areas and the ability for the widget to pull in twitter search results and display them as text (with hyperlinks for the actual links ofcourse) would be really awesome.

I am still having this issue. I’m running BP 1.0 and own theme but changed the default 1.0 member theme back… and still not working. I also have other problems (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2633).
Thanks for clarifying that Lance. However, now I get this error when I browse to my website->
define( ‘BPLANG’, ‘mysite’ ); if ( file_exists( BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ ) ) { load_textdomain( ‘buddypress’, BP_PLUGIN_DIR . ‘/bp-languages/buddypress-‘ . BPLANG . ‘.mo’ ); }

the .mo file is name buddypress-mysite.mo

Is there a way to add additional Group Admins to a BuddyPress Group? I see how to add a moderator, but not an admin.
This sounds GREATTTT!!!!!

I dont seem to be able to find this answer.
There are no “secure auth” cookie salt or “auth” cookie salt on my installation.
I used the 1.0 Alpha 6 BbPress and Buddypress latest version.
How come these are not where they say they are “this wordpress admin page”
Cheers.
