Thanks for the Global notification system, that is very much needed in order to make buddypress work.

Avatars, I noticed that avatars are being saved to one particular folder under the blog.dir and within that folder other folders are created for the users, is that the way it will continue to work? And what should I do about previous users who signed up. There folder is not in that same primary folder, and their pics do not show up anymore.

As the nadiamode & trent have mentioned there is an issue with 150px X 150px” error when trying to change an avatar. Thanks for your help.

    Topic: Sign up problem

I updated BuddyPress from the latest trunk. Which seems to solved the bug for the last name and firstname field during signup. However I keep getting this Avatar error when trying to sign up as a new user.

“Upload Failed! Your photo dimensions are likely too big.”

I tried with pictures 48×48 and leaving it blank but the error is still there. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot

good to hear. I will be very interested in having OpenID available. Any chance at a music or video section for buddypress?

I’m guessing that line in the FAQ is out of date. I’m currently using it fine on 2.6.2 and will report any problems when I upgrade to 2.6.3, but I as long as you stay in the 2.6.X line you should be okay.

You should use 2.6.1 as say in FAQ

BuddyPress is being developed on the latest stable release of WPMU (2.6.1). Please don’t expect it to work on the latest build in SVN.

I think there needs to be an is_page() check done before the URL hijacking takes place. Can you submit a ticket for this at: https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket (wp.org support forum login creds)

Yep, I’ve successfully integrated the users, but couldn’t get the simultaneous login to work but that’s very minor. I’m going to do some tweaks to bbPress to redirect to their BuddyPress profile so users don’t have two profiles to maintain but it’s prett straight forward.

i would like to try Buddypress and looking about its implementation.

can it be installed on a running wpmu install ?

(with some blogs and users created)

or should it be created on a clean install ?

just to know if when a stable realease will be available it could upgrade a running wpmu website.

is there a link between wpmu versions and buddypress ones ?

Agreed – some of the strings are quite broken up right now which makes it hard to translate. I’ll switch in some string replacements to clean this up a bit and you should be more or less good to go.

    Hey,

we are at buddypress.de hard working on a perfect translation of the best software. But we can’t, because the possibilities to translate BuddyPress are really bad. The function bp_core_time_since, which makes the representation of the time elapsed, simply adds a ‘s’ if the number not one. In this case it would be better to use __ngettext.

The next problem is, that buddypress use for example for the localization of “registered 3 hours, 9 minutes ago” 2 strings! It would be better use one string with a %s. This would be better to translate.

I hope my suggestions will be flow in into the trunk.

    Thanks, your Dennis.

Sorry, but the official german translation is on the way, we at buddypress.de have only waited for the implementation of load_textdomain, which enable to load the localization. Be patient!

Die deutsche offizielle Übersetzung kommt, wir (buddypress.de) hatten nur noch darauf gewartet, dass BuddyPress die passende Funktion bekommmt, dass es Sprachdateien laden kann. Bitte noch etwas gedulden.

I’m getting the error “Please make sure your BuddyPress enabled theme includes a header.php and footer.php file.”

I did a fresh install to see if it was something else, I’m just using WPMU 2.6.2 and the newest trac.

the site is anotherdamnwebsite.com I get the error when trying to access anything in BP or profiles, it’ll put /members/ before everything like

    http://anotherdamnwebsite.com/members/admin/

    http://anotherdamnwebsite.com/members/admin/messages

    etc.

That depends, if there are filters placed on the output then I would think so. Otherwise BuddyPress will need to bypass and rewrite these emails.

Smueller – actually the readme is outdated, so it’s not entirely clear. I’m updating them now.

Hopefully yes. I will spend some time adding tags in there once I get some time to do that. The codex is user contributed, so if you feel like adding tags to the codex that you use, then please do.

ok – I’m a moron – I figured it out – what I did was renamed(despite the big, bold warning in the theme install.txt) the buddypress-home folder to ‘home’ rather than leaving it as buddypress-home and completely removing the home directory. Now all looks good and I can start to ‘play’. Thanks to all that responded and I promise to read the instructions more carefully before future posts.

ok – I have the ‘BuddyPress Home Theme 0.1’ activated and I’ve added all of the available widgets to ‘Sidebar 1′(which is the only option available in the dropdown and I also do not see any plugins available but I believe that is by design as, per a prior post, all plugins are automatically on and won’t show under plugins and all I’m still seeing on the home page is the standard bp header, the bp logo and a ‘This is a WordPress MU + BuddyPress powered site’ at at the top and a ‘This is just a placeholder theme, eventually you will be able to make this an aggregation of site content, or a site blog’ message in the footer. Is there a newer version or am I still missing something? Again, any help would be appreciated – I really want to be able to fully eval this app but it’s starting to get a bit frustrating.

    #33436

are all the sections on the bp theme home page (recent blogs, who’s online?, etc…) only allowed to be added in as widgets or can you implement them by using template tags?

    Hi Andy,

while working on my latest project, we were wondering about the notifications that WPMu sends out when people register and create blogs, post comments etc.. Those always refer to the usernames that people used to sign up but ideally under Buddypress, those should contain the profile name instead. Is there a plan on working on this or even can this be changed (without hacking core WPMu files)?

I still have problems I re-downloaded 431 and installed everything; buddypress new themes and muplugins. However when I look at the avatar I upload I get the following:

    http://famous.tm/wp-content/blogs.dir/382/files//2008/10/famous-square3-avatar1.jpg

files//2008 The only reason I said a directory issue is cause the // between files and 2008 looks peculiar.

And I still have the same problem with trying to sign up as member lengsh has confirmed.

Do you have an idea of what it could be?

C’mon Andy, I was just about to overtake myspace… ;) haha!
