Does anyone know why I would be getting a 200 error?
Without a trailing slash my website reads as though it is a different address. If someone can give me an idea, I would appreciate it. Actually, I am kinda shocked that I am the only one with this problem, doesn’t anyone else have this problem? My mu wordpress is standard. The only difference I can think is that I am not using the buddypress-home theme?
Looks like I forgot to update my buddypress-home and buddypress-member themes. It’s all better now.
First, thanks for changing the members page structure. A lot more wpmu admin plugins work with Buddypress now – for example “Default Categories for New Blogs” seems to work now. It is also much easier to create new users (don’t have to make 2 blogs per user) and it’s easier to use the “More Privacy Options” plugin. NextGen Gallery can now be automatically turned on using “Plugin Commander” for all blogs without worrying about having a gallery in the user profile. In short it feels much more like a regular wpmu install for the blogs with all the benefits of buddypress.
My question is with friend finder. When I do a search for a newly created blog user, the user doesn’t show up in the friend finder. If I go to their profile, I can invite them as a friend. Is this because the new blog has not created their profile yet or am I missing something else.

I am having the same problem. I looked in the code. It seems that the point in the code is on line 174 of bp-xprofile-signup.php:

here coz of local language when we create post url getting converted to utf so its long test with sting and special chars that is the reason in the formation of site wide activity sprintf is used so it is not allowing big utf type url.
In function bp_activity_content_filter
I commented //$content[0] .= ‘%s’;
and in function bp_activity_insert_time_since
return sprintf( $content, ‘ ‘ . bp_core_time_since( strtotime( $date ) ) . ‘ ‘ . __(‘ago’, ‘buddypress’) );
replaced with
return $content . sprintf( “%s”, ‘ ‘ . bp_core_time_since( strtotime( $date ) ) . ‘ ‘ . __(‘ago’, ‘buddypress’) );
2. In wp_bp_activity_sitewide table updated content field with utf8_general_ci
This is for site wide activity to work with local languages. For profile make changes with other tables related to user_activities all other works fine.
It will read languages files in:
/wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-languages/buddypress-[locale].mo
BuddyPress will always work on the latest stable release of WPMU.
everything seems to work fine on my buddypress install for new users and new blogs.
but it does not include blogs already created.
Is it standard ? or did i make a mistake in installing buddypress ?
what shuold i do : delete and recreate the blogs for the users ?

Hmmmm…. this is major problem i see it has to be solve. there are problems for IE7
1. On home page each menu header is not in sync with below matter either it is who’s online list, new post on left side, or either in center.
2. On profile header Buddypress logo is fighting with first drop down menu.
I hope guys will sort it out.

I’m not sure how far Andy’s got will this, but the code I donated to him earlier in the year allows user to assign tags to their friends (i.e. “friend”, “family”, “drinking buddy” etc). The user can then allow permissions for friends with certain tags to view different parts of their profile.
This is working pretty well on http://myjournal.com, and I’m happy to help implement this for BuddyPress too.
It may already be in there, I’m embarrassingly behind the times with my copy of BP.
As a social network platform, a level of friendship/connection between 2 users is essential, for example: you may add some user only as a ‘contact’, or ‘friend’ or maybe closer e.g. family. When will BuddyPress implement this? I think it’s one of the basic need of a social network engine.
I know it’s still a long way. There are lots to do now. I’m not asking for a nice, user friendly interface, right now. Only a generic scheme, the database structure, etc. I think it’s better to consider adding it before everything’s got more complicated and solid. In the future, this thing should be customizable, perhaps like a user role in WP.
Or is it already developed here?

Avatars, I noticed that avatars are being saved to one particular folder under the blog.dir and within that folder other folders are created for the users, is that the way it will continue to work? And what should I do about previous users who signed up. There folder is not in that same primary folder, and their pics do not show up anymore.

I updated BuddyPress from the latest trunk. Which seems to solved the bug for the last name and firstname field during signup. However I keep getting this Avatar error when trying to sign up as a new user.

I tried with pictures 48×48 and leaving it blank but the error is still there. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot

I’m guessing that line in the FAQ is out of date. I’m currently using it fine on 2.6.2 and will report any problems when I upgrade to 2.6.3, but I as long as you stay in the 2.6.X line you should be okay.
You should use 2.6.1 as say in FAQ
BuddyPress is being developed on the latest stable release of WPMU (2.6.1). Please don’t expect it to work on the latest build in SVN.

Yep, I’ve successfully integrated the users, but couldn’t get the simultaneous login to work but that’s very minor. I’m going to do some tweaks to bbPress to redirect to their BuddyPress profile so users don’t have two profiles to maintain but it’s prett straight forward.
i would like to try Buddypress and looking about its implementation.
can it be installed on a running wpmu install ?
(with some blogs and users created)
or should it be created on a clean install ?
just to know if when a stable realease will be available it could upgrade a running wpmu website.
is there a link between wpmu versions and buddypress ones ?
Agreed – some of the strings are quite broken up right now which makes it hard to translate. I’ll switch in some string replacements to clean this up a bit and you should be more or less good to go.
