ModeratorHi @atsouf
Any help about what plugins or customizations i ll have to do to make this work? (cost is not an issue)
Take a look in the WordPress Plugin Directory to see if there’s anything there that would help.
If you need any custom work done then try adding your requirements to the BP Jobs Board. There should be lots of designers and developers around that can help. Be sure to leave your contact details so that they can get in touch.

vfreefly
ParticipantThat’s what I understood. In buddypress groups, the positions of participants in the HOME tab can be sorted by selecting the mode show Show: Updates. This filter by default only shows all new recordings of the group members.
It means that the minimal effort to make the group BuddyPress like groups in VK (FB), you must supply a default filter (Show) on Updates, but not on Everything.
Of course, it would be just fine to prohibit writing to the group (Home tab) everyone except admins and admins. Simple participants in this case can only comment link posted by write (statuses).
That would be cool.
In General, if by and large, need a plugin for this.
No edits in the code and other old school turmoil.
The plugin should add in the settings of each group an option to include a “wall”.
When the Home tab is visible by default only the records of participants, without garbage like the fact that someone new joined the group or posting something new at the forum group. All this debris, normal logic is in the second tab, called “news” or “news”. Just two subsections, “the Wall” and “news”. Genius always simple.
The wall in the group must be of two kinds. Or closed (when it can write only the administration), or open, when any participant has the right to do an update.
Oh and another good plugin should provide the opportunity to include a similar option wall in the user’s profile. No filters. Only “the wall” and “the news, which resets everything except records (status).
Now this would be cool. How strange that this plugin hasn’t written. Such a plugin would be the bomb, because the current logic of the sorting and display of content in buddypress is lame, and similar to the invention of unnecessary bike.
If someone will take over this plugin is ready to join in on graudating with his hand up to$ 100 , with the subsequent right of the author to publish and sell your plug-in anywhere.December 5, 2014 at 4:46 pm #230206In reply to: Change Username instead of person's real name

ParticipantYour po/mo files should be added to this path (create it if it doesn’t exist):
wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-xx_XX.mo (where xx is the lang ISO code) For english, en_EN or en_US…
If you need more details how translation are working, search for “translation” or “language” on the forum.
Be carefull and keep a copy of these files localy ! 😉

ParticipantHello again
I tried following the instructions in the link you gave but it seems this is now out of date. There is no bp-languages folder (it seems this changed since BuddyPress 2.1) – see https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-2-1-bp-language/
Would it be possible to update these instructions or perhaps advise me what to do?
many thanks

Hugo Ashmore
ParticipantThis isn’t a BuddyPress issue though is it!
As the message says your server or hosting account doesn’t have sufficient memory for php processes in this specific instance and needs to be increased. Contact your host to see whether this is possible and also search on the WP Codex for other ways of dealing with memory issues.

ModeratorThe best way is to use a customized language file. More info…
It may seem complicated, but once you’ve gone thru the process you’ll probably find it helpful for other situations.December 4, 2014 at 6:40 pm #230162In reply to: Email Notification

ModeratorRe #1 – I haven’t used this plugin, but the author is solid: bp-wake-up-sleepers.
It hasn’t been updated for a couple years, so it may not work with latest BP version.Re #2: You could try this plugin: buddypress-profile-progression
I don’t think it sends an email, so you’d have to hack it to add that functionality.December 4, 2014 at 5:53 pm #230158In reply to: Buddy Press Memory Spikes

KeymasterThanks — I’ve received your email.
One of the windows is showing a bunch of “-1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)” entries for /plugins/buddypress-media/. Just because it says “BuddyPress” in its name doesn’t mean it’s BuddyPress itself. 🙂
Can you remove this plugin and give it some time to see if your server crashes again?
Ultimately I think you need to contact support for that plugin (I’m assuming it’s RTMedia), but removing it and testing should pretty positively prove one way or another if it’s related to that.If you can’t disable that plugin, then I think your only option is to talk to that plugin’s support team and hope they can figure something out.

Are you sure that the filter hook is being used? As opposed to simply being available? You can create a ticket in trac.

Participantthanl you, but I am having problems following those solutions. Are Slugs still work in progress? Are they going to be implemented on WP backend? How can I change those strings? Are they split across multiple files? I would like to set up BuddyPress for german customers, therefore I would like to rename the URL path once, using german language strings in URL.

Fixing the said bug has thrown us in the deep end… I’ve got quite a few more moderator tools/updates to go in over the next couple of days that should help us out on both BuddyPress.org and bbPress.org 🙂

Glad to read some good news around this little problem.

I’m also wondering if we could use some interesting plugins now, like buddy-bbPress-Support-Topic by @imath, and automated topic closing after 30 days.

KeymasterI’ve made a ticket and we’ll try to get this fixed in BuddyPress 2.2 (due to be released mid/late January 2015). If the fix is easy for you to apply, once we do that, I’ll try to remember to come back and leave a note here.

KeymasterWithout seeing the screenshots you mentioned that your support team provided, we still don’t know if it’s a BuddyPress issue — or related to one of the many other plugins you have running. If you’d like, forward those screenshots to me (paul at this domain .org) and I’ll see if it’s helpful here.

ParticipantThese pages are used internaly and dynamicaly by BP, depending their context. And in this, you preferably won’t to change their slugs.
If you need to add a message on them, you can use one of the do_action hook you’ll find on their respective template. For example, something before the content loop on the profile page:
function bpfr_my_profile_msg() { if( !is_user_logged_in() ) { echo '<div class="my_profile_msg">Hi dude !</div>'; } } add_action( 'bp_before_profile_loop_content', 'bpfr_my_profile_msg' );And to get custom slugs, you have to use the define technique described here:

Participantyour link goes to a 404 error page….
1) if you narrowed down the culprit, the best is to ask for this on their support.
2) another way would be to re-check your forum settings, as explained here, as you use a general forum AND group forums.
3) use the buddypress repair tool
4) have you tested your install with one of WP’s twenty theme (just in case of…)
5) you could also activate debug in your wp-config to se if you get some information.
Miaw ! 😉

ParticipantHi @danbp, thanks for the note.
First of all I can still edit the activity page if that’s called activity. Members, groups and forums are locked to additions. I want to add some information for users – why shouldnt I be able to edit this page? It makes no sense.
Also that doesn’t not answer the question why changing the slug would have such an influence. Renaming the slugs used to be a built in buddypress option, since everybody wants to make their buddypress unique and right for their community.

ParticipantBuddyPress component pages like “activity”, “members”, etc are restricted to internal usage only. These page must stay empty in any case.
