ParticipantHey @professornate! Thanks for posting in the forums!
The issue you are seeing here is a result of some BuddyPress assets not loading. The site is throwing a Javascript error and that is preventing the page from loading.
First thing to try here is to deactivate and reactivate the BuddyPress plugin. If the issue persists, try changing your theme to one of the default WordPress themes (say, twentytwelve). I’m virtually certain that one of those steps will fix the issue. Let me know if it doesn’t.
If the issue is fixed by switching the theme to twentytwelve, try switching it back to your current theme. If the issue comes back, then there is something up with the theme and you should try re-installing it.

ParticipantHi @henrywright,
I tested the plugin “BuddyPress Component Stats”, it seems very good, but for “Blogs”, “Forum” and “Group”, it not shows data.
Why?The second plugin is very old and I think that not works with buddyPress 2.x
Thanks.

ParticipantMore fun with “bp_setup_current_user was called incorrectly.” I tracked it down to the plugin Buddypress Wall in our site. See: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/dashboard-warning-and-fix-bp_setup_current_user

ParticipantHi, Thanks for responding. Yes I have. I have used tested it with many themes including the twenty twelve and the twenty fourteen. Buddypress is the only plugin I have installed. I’m using wordpress 4.0 and buddypress 2.1.1. I’m running on a localhost MAMP. I just installed the server along with everything else a few hours ago on this computer.

Participantthis issue is posted all across their forums and no-one has ever received a decent reply from BP dev’s.
here’s just a few of the many i’ve read trying to solve this over the past week:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/registration-reload-error-lets-get-this-solved/
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-refreshing-on-register-to-blank-page/

https://buddypress.org/support/topic/can-not-register-since-upgrade-to-1-2-1-it-just-refreshes-the-main-page/
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/cant-register-new-bp-account-helpthe two possible workarounds i found didnt work with the latest release. This is clearly an issue many people are having with Buddypress and have been for a long time. it would be really helpful if the devs could work out what is causing it.
From my reading i’m suspicious that it is conflicts with junk left in the database by other plugins, which have since been deleted. but that’s not based on much actual understanding of the issue – and i wouldnt know how to repair this without deleting my site.

Participant@julia_b Nope, I have no connection to flox.io. I only know that the plugin author is the project lead of BuddyPress so I have no hesitation recommending it 🙂 There’s a link to contact the author at the footer of that site if you have any question. Good luck.

@mercime
Participantbut I want to create a graphic UI
You could add a class to each menu link (including BP links) in Appearance > Menus and add the graphics via stylesheet. Just click on the “Screen Options” tab on the upper right hand area of the Menus panel and check “CSS Classes” so you’ll see the class input area for each menu link added.
code for embedding the whats-new-form on different areas of the site
Easy way via plugin http://buddydev.com/buddypress/buddypress-sitewide-activity-widget-updates/

ParticipantHi @henrywright
have a look at this https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/using-bp_parse_args-to-filter-buddypress-template-loops/
my problem is that i want to exclude not only from the loop but also from the varioous member buddypress widgets that loop members some roles.October 28, 2014 at 6:55 pm #227854WordPress Developer
ParticipantThanks henrywright for your reply.
I’m using Razor theme. I installed buddypress.

ModeratorA standard installation of BuddyPress does not do the things you describe.
Try deactivating any other plugins you have running and see it that stops your issues.

ModeratorCreate a template overload of this file:
buddypress\bp-templates\bp-legacy\buddypress\members\single\member-header.phpAnd put what you want into it, such as a link to wp-admin/user/profile.php
For example:
if( bp_is_my_profile() ) { global $current_user; get_currentuserinfo(); $login_name = $current_user->user_login; echo '<a href="' . site_url() . '/wp-admin/' . $login_name . '/profile.php">Edit Your Profile</a>'; }October 28, 2014 at 6:01 pm #227846In reply to: Starting with a clean install, should i…?

ModeratorHi @ddt
This isn’t a problem I’ve come across myself. Can you provide some links to where you’ve read about BuddyPress not liking WordPress in its own directory (as opposed to the root dir)?

ParticipantRight, but we have a lot of files about the BP. To edit the profile CSS, did you think it’s recommended copy all the plugin/buddypress/ folder or just the buddypress.css in /themes/parent-theme/buddypress?

ModeratorPerhaps those styles are no longer being used ?
You can download older versions of BP here.
Make a backup of your database.
Then deactivate the BP plugin.
Then upload another version of BP and activate.October 27, 2014 at 10:40 pm #227808In reply to: Adding content to Activity page

ok then how can someone insert anything at these pages before the content that BuddyPress inserts?October 27, 2014 at 10:37 pm #227806In reply to: Adding content to Activity page
Paul Bursnall
Participant@milenushka This behaviour isn’t limited to Activity. Any page you set Buddypress to utilize – Groups, Members etc. won’t be available to edit. I’ll have to plead ignorance on this one though – just installed BP 1.81 and while the same pages are available to edit, those changes don’t show on the front-end. I’m not sure what you’ve been able to do with these pages in the past? I suspect the edit link has now been removed to avoid confusion rather than anything else.
