Participant@mercime, I did download and install the integration but that didn’t seem to make any difference with the issues that I’ve been having. I just deleted the files from my site and I’m going to have a guy who helps us with our coding remove any traces of bbPress or BuddyPress from the myPHPadmin file and the reinstall everything.

@mercime
ParticipantAfter the upgrade to 1.7.2, it is broken. It gives me a “page not found” error. I have everything else about BuddyPress working.
@mbagnall since you did not mention having a multisite installation, I will assume that you created a static front page named “home” or whatever, created a new blank Page named “Blog” for your blog posts and went to Settings > Reading to designate the “home” page for you home page and “Blog” for your blog pages. That’s the scenario where I can see you have /blog/ in the url of your blog posts. Check your Settings > Reading to make sure that the pages selected in Static Front page and blog posts are still the same.June 7, 2013 at 2:55 am #165506In reply to: [Resolved] Buddypress and BBPress, same avatar?
@mercime
Participant@adamfratino Thank you for posting back about the cause of the bbPress avatar issue. Please post at plugin’s support forums about the bbPress avatars issue when BuddyPress and Social Login are activated. https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/oa-social-login

bedhead1971
ParticipantYes followed instructions from the link..
I created a buddypress.php with the code above as the width of Buddypress was a bit narrow and I didn’t need sidebars. I used bp.php in laziness on here. Apologies..
Before the change I had the grey around the navigation of friends forums etc but that disappeared with the templates being disabled.
I have no compatibility issue, just wish to try and pretty it up again.

@mercime
Participant@bedhead1971 Please clarify. The image you posted is that of sven with the BP Default theme while the issue is theme compat with Colorway theme. So let’s take it from the top.
I just upgraded to 1.7 and did the templates plugin disable and removal of the 6 files in theme.
So you followed instructions at https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/ ? It should show a two column layout for BP pages as your theme’s page.php has sidebar in template.
This is my bp.php I created from the themes fullwidth template as it suggested.
First, you must name the file buddypress.php or community.php (not bp.php), remove ” Template Name: Fullwidth Template” and upload the buddypress.php file into wp-content/themes/colorway folder in server.

@mercime
ParticipantBuddyPress does not block any styles hardcoded or enqueued by your theme. I don’t know why you cannot post in yootheme’s support forums for assistance if you’ve purchased your theme from them.

ParticipantWordpress 3.5.1, Buddypress 1.7.2, using Bonpress free theme from WPZOOM. I just realized there might be a conflict with WordPress Social Login, which is pulling avatar data from Facebook/Twitter when registering new members, or just when logging them back in with the social options.
When I shut off WordPress Social Login, the Buddypress avatars show up in BBPress. When I turn social login back on, the original avatars from when the user signed up take over the BBPress avatars.

@mercime
ParticipantI’m looking to use the Buddypress avatars within the BBPress forums
BuddyPress avatars should show up in bbPress forums.
WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? What plugins are activated? Have you tried deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress and bbPress then changing to BP Default theme to check if issues are resolved?

ParticipantI have a similar issue. When I click on ‘edit’, I used to get the buddypress group topic edit form. But lately, I get the bbpress edit form. When i click on ‘save changes’ I get an error.
How can I go back to using the buddypress group topics edit form?
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.June 6, 2013 at 11:04 pm #165490In reply to: [Resolved] Ajax?

ModeratorThere is no ‘paid level of support’ within this site.
BuddyPress has a very ‘internalized’ business model.You can post a call for developers here:

ParticipantThanks @bphelp
The plugin seems like a terrible idea. I mean some particular installation somewhere in the BuddyPress world might need it, but I don’t like the idea of limiting BP’s functionality (potentially thwarting the value of the online community) for everyone to try and stop a few bad apples. What number will you limit the friends to so that spammers are blocked and the community is valuable? 5, 10, 50, 100, 500?
Your original idea of throttling friend requests was far neater and remains superior to this plugin’s concept.

ModeratorIf you are on BuddyPress 1.7 you need bbPress for forums. Do you have that installed?

ModeratorBuddyPress 1.7 + no longer has forums unless you had a previous version with group forums active. I guess you could install an old version activate forums and then upgrade to get the old forums.
June 6, 2013 at 7:15 pm #165476In reply to: Theme Compatibility
@mercime
Participant@rgbweb For BP 1.7+, you no longer need to install the BP Template Pack plugin to make your theme compatible with BuddyPress. BP will automagically render BP components through your theme’s page.php file. https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/

ParticipantHi
Did you find a solution to this? I am having a similar problem with bp-custom.php . No matter what I put in it, even if it is blank, it breaks my site and no pages will load – just blank white pages. As soon as I remove bp-custom.php everything works again.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong? As I said, this happens even if I have a blank file called bp-custom.php inside my plugins directory.
Thanks.

ParticipantHi i came across this issue and found a solution for it.
# MY PROBLEM
# When posting a update from the activity stream, it wouldn’t show the post. The only thing that would show is my name and time that i posted the update.
# MY SOLUTION
# I done some checking and found that if you have Buddypress Media on your website and you have the setting set to YES!!! on your activity upload, change it to NO!!!! and it will work.

Famous
ParticipantThank you for making it a little more clear.
Is there a place to read about how buddypress is supposed to function, or its intended use for each module, kinda like JetPack information?
Are there any intentions to make the groups (notify group members of site activity) interactive in the near future?
If not any time soon what is your best (weekly digest plugin or a post notification plugin for wordpress) recommendation?June 6, 2013 at 5:27 pm #165467beeeerock
ParticipantI’m having the same issue… latest ‘mainstream’ versions of everything. I haven’t created a child theme – just trying out the BuddyPress Default to see if it will server my purposes. My header was configured in Photoshop to be exactly the 1250×133 pixels. In Chrome, I’m seeing what looks like the start of a vertical tiling of the header image… just a few pixels worth, but it looks pretty dumb. Firefox seems OK… don’t care what IE does with it… 😉
Did you find a solution to the problem, or is this something in the way Chrome renders the page that can’t be fixed without an unreasonable amount of effort? When I viewed you link it looks like you’ve got it solved…
