ParticipantSo, Can I get some clarification from a friendly user.
I want to have multiple BP networks, all exclusive to each other and private.
I want to allow for members to be able to ask to ‘join’ any network and if permission is receive.. he or she is in, without the need to fill out a form..Is this possible?

ParticipantIf I need to provide additional details please let me know.
We shouldn’t really have to ask you for that 🙂
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/I trust this is a custom theme you’re using? If it is a custom theme then switch to twentytwelve theme and see if issue still persists if not this shows you it’s a theme issue and you need to contact the theme author in the first instance for support.

ParticipantWhich is not terrible of and by itself (these are BP-compatible plugins for WP). But I agree, there needs to be a way to separate out “Plugins for BuddyPress” (things that actually extend the functionality of BuddyPress) from “WordPress plugins that work with BuddyPress”
i’m pretty sure that’s what the plugin modemlooper made does:

ParticipantI’m having same problem, driving me absolutely nutty and hardly a thin gout there about how to fix it. I’m quite desperate for a solution. My feeds from my buddypress install work on other sites outside of buddypress, sometimes
it seems to change all the time
Additionally sometimes when adding the feed url wordpress adds in /activity/ into the feed url without asking 🙂 feeds that work one minute don’t the next

Participant60% of the plugins listed here https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins are not really BuddyPress plugins

Participant@mercime I deactivated the BuddyPress plugin and it worked fine with the WordPress default registration page (the one that looks like the login page). I’m looking for the whole process to detect if it’s looking for some cookie or something that the system is handing the client when logging in… Any ideas?

ParticipantI do not find any issue in joining a private group via the private group’s home page or joining private groups via Groups Directory page or the Private Group’s home page on default installs. https://codex.buddypress.org/user/buddypress-components-and-features/groups/how-to-join-a-private-group/ on Twenty Twelve theme.

I personally have not tested this for removing gravatars but you could try it:

BuddyPress now has profile privacy built in for individual field visibility. BuddyPress Activity Privacy plugin is great at controlling who see’s individual activity posts. https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp does a decent job of locking down BP pages for logged out visitors. BuddyMobile is great for providing users of mobile devices an app like version of BP. So in conclusion I would say BP privacy has come along way since 2010. It would be nice if more of those features were built into the core in future versions but I am not sure that it would be something the core team would undertake at this point in development. The plugins I mentioned are in the repository with the exception of Private Community For BP in which I provided the GitHub link. Hope this answers your questions. Cheers!May 27, 2013 at 12:19 pm #164880In reply to: Disable WP.COM

Participant@jamie771 : Not tomorrow, but by the end of this week, this bug will be fixed. There are few more modifications going on in this plugin which needs to be completed before its new version is finalized. You can see what development is currently going on in the plugin on Github Commit history

One solution: create a buddypress.php file and upload to theme folder in server https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.7.2/bp-themes/bp-default/page.php

Participant@jamie771 : If you are talking about https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-media, the mobile upload functionality is about to be completely changed. The problem you are facing is because of the plupload library that is being used in BuddyPress Media. In version 2.17 (Roadmap), there will be fallback uploader as well which will work with all mobile devices as well.

Participantthere is no relation to wp.com or wordpress.com and buddypress other then the fact they are built on the same basic infrastructure of wordpress which is available at wordpress.org. but you cannot be using buddypress on a wordpress.com website.

Participant@jamie771 there’s a similar but not the same issue posted in another thread and the common factor seems to be Contact Form 7. To eliminate other possible issues, have you tried deactivatig plugins except BuddyPress and changing to Twenty Twelve theme to check if issue is resolved?

Participant@rairai-ni no problem with the number of plugins, there are those which have much more installed. There’s a similar but not quite the same issue posted recently and the common plugin is Contact Form 7. Just to make sure that there are no other conflicts, have you tried deactivating Gantry Framework/BuddyPress and changing to Twenty Twelve theme? Is the Gantry BuddyPress updated for BP 1.7?
