Participant@mkhaled conflict with theme using jQuery 1.6.2 while WordPress/BuddyPress are on jQuery 1.8.3

Participant@bergblume the closest plugin I know is the premium plugin http://shabushabu.eu/release-of-mapology-for-buddypress/ You might want to check out whether the plugin author will be upgrading the plugin for upcoming BP 1.7 first.

Participant@danny80 did you go through the installation wizard after you activated BuddyPress? Also, is Registration enabled in your site? If not, the registration page won’t show up. Site URI?

Participant@unsalkorkmaz may I make a suggestion: please do not update your theme until it has been synced with WordPress Extend Themes. Otherwise, you’d have to wait for another 7 days max before the theme’s live at WP.org

ParticipantIt would be extremely useful to admins of communities to keep track of basic activity within the community. Things like how many members sign up or join, how many posts, comments, threads are made, how many members are inactive for past n days, how many have filled out profile, etc.
This is functionality equivalent to maintaining a finger on the pulse of the community and tracking important variables to set goals, find out troublesome issues, measure growth, etc.

Participant@bmccall17 I see that BuddyPress is deactivated in your installation. I will be closing this topic. Create a new topic should you require assistance with BuddyPress. Thanks.

Participant@maphorn site url? Basically you add the changes in your own theme’s style.css file. Do not make changes in /bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/default.css because those changes will be overwritten when you upgrade BuddyPress.
March 26, 2013 at 7:38 am #158189In reply to: Friends only viewing
@mercime
Participant@danspeak12 what specifically are you looking for? xprofile fields can already be set by members to show publicly, for friends only, or for admin only. There’s a plugin to make activity streams show up for friends only https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-activity-for-self-and-friends-only/

ParticipantOk I think I may have found a solution. Uninstall all forums installs and delete all groups then follow this old guide here
https://codex.buddypress.org/legacy/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums-v1-5/3/
It’s for an older version but it worked ok for me with bbpress Version 2.2.4 and buddypress Version 1.6.5
Once done with the guide created a new group with the group creation wizard and after it is finished go into admin>forums on the group page and save the settings enabling forums again as apparently there is a bug that sometimes doesn’t enable the forums but doing this fixes it.
I hope it works for you as it has worked for me.

ParticipantI also had the same problem and I fixed this by removing all forums and following this old tutorial here
https://codex.buddypress.org/legacy/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums-v1-5/3/after following it I deleted all the groups that were made before in an existing group forums installation and created a new group enabling the forums for the group and it all worked. You may have to, after creating your new groups, go click admin > forum on the group page and click to enable the group forums again as this is an old bug apparently that sometimes does not register the forums during the group creation wizard.
I hope this fixes your problem.

@mercime
Participant@panthony54 Yes it is 🙂 Double check wp_options table in database that there’s no GRA4 options lurking around, just in case.

ParticipantI am also getting this error, any help would be great.
the error appears in the title of the page for me and throws up a blank white page
Fatal error: Call to undefined function bb_get_id_from_slug() in /home/dtrboss/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-functions.php on line 178
It happens for me when creating a topic in the group forums. I started getting this error after following Set Up Group and Sitewide Forums on this page https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/#b-set-up-group-and-sitewide-forums

You’re going to need to supply some sort of detail if you want help. Starting with the theme in use might be good?

Participant@mkhaled deactivate all plugins and the salutation theme and you will probably have a correctly working buddypress back.
Then reactivate plugins one by one. If everything is well, reactivate salutation and asign correctly the pages to buddypress…FYI, Salutation does work with BP 1.6.4, but you will probably pass many hours to understand how to use it with BP. As it’s also a premium theme, you wouldn’t find much help here.

ParticipantPaul and Paul-Yorde are the same. Paul-Yorde is admin, Paul is subscriber or what ever basic user is on buddypress. I wanted to delete the Paul/subscriber account because that was set up only to demonstrate the process of adding a friend and what not. The 3rd user is a mystery then ;(
Yeah, it seems that maybe the function I added worked, and users can properly register now. Still not sure what to do about allowing a subscriber to delete their own profile though.March 25, 2013 at 6:38 pm #158044bp-help
ParticipantMaybe this is also covered by #1 but I think @shanebp ‘s blocking a member would be awesome as well as @r-a-y ‘s plugin to keep non-friends from sending private message’s, I also liked @modemloopers extended settings plugin when it was free. Overall I really would like to see privacy features taken to the next level. Me being a novice at coding though, all I can do is make suggestions and hope the real coders take the idea and make it a reality! Thanks!

ParticipantMaybe this one is too small or already covered by #1 but stealth for Super Admins.
Maybe this one is too big, spam user registration countermeasures.

aldereteka
ParticipantI know this is an extremely old thread but as Buddypress is linking to it for tips and tricks, I figured this is still relevant.
@sbrajesh, I used your snippet for adding age into my users’ profiles and it worked to the extent that I somehow made the admin, me, the default age. It looks great, but all my hypothetical users are 33! This seems like a placement issue but I can’t figure it out.I’m using the latest WP and BP Default with a child theme, and I placed the first part of sbrajesh’s code in my bp-custom.php and the second part in the members-header.php to start with.
Anyone’s help would be awesome.

KeymasterIt’s *probably* another badly-written plugin that expects BuddyPress to be always active (and when a plugin is upgraded, they’re temporarily disabled), but we’ll need to see the contents in the error log to confirm.
