@jackalo9 Strange, I would have imagined that the theme author would have been able to help you out. What theme are you using? Site URL? You can override any style coming from bp.css at any point in your own theme’s style.css file.

there is probably a css/js conflict somewhere. Update your BP first and see if things goes better.
At this time, you use an old version of BP or at least an old bp-default theme !

Your page source code indicate this:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress//bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.js?ver=20110818

On BP 1.6.4, you would have this:
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/global.js?ver=1.6.4

Notice also that there is an error in your path to the global.js: double slash between buddypress//bp-themes

Not sure if this issue is an error or normal, when using the template pack plugin.
That said, the problem is not BP, but the template or something you did to fit wp-bold106 with BP 😉

Per check in theme’s product page at TF, the theme has not been updated since October 12, 2012, so the code hasn’t changed by then. This means that the instructions posted last October 2012 still stand and it worked before.

At this point, I recommend either you wait for BP 1.7 where BP Template Pack is no longer needed for BP template files, or contact the theme author for support and point the author to the post with the instructions.

Hopefully you some time to look a this.

I already have a process that registers new users, sends out the welcome email, etc. So, I don’t really want to install the Welcome Pack plugin. What I really need to change is the prefix of all BP email subjects to look like all the other emails that get sent from WP and elsewhere.

Currently BP emails looks like:

[Blog name]

For example:

[example.com] New message from user01

What I would like to do is change all subject prefixes to something fixed. eg.

fixed-string-1-here [fixed-string-2-here]:

For example:

Example [BuddyPress]: New message from user01

I found the topic below in the BP forums which suggest adding a filter, but it’s almost 2 years old, and doesn’t seem to work. I added the function to my bp-custom.php, but it had no effect.

Too some extent though you will need to get comfortable doing some basic work with code it comes with wanting to customize things I’m afraid.

The template pack guides are how things ideally need to be to work, if there are errors in files after following instructions it may well be down to the user to figure those out such as incorrectly copied code, missing tags etc.

How did you manage to move the menu item to another location besides first or last? @modemlooper, that link to your plugin is not working anymore. I tried Buddypress custom profile menu but I am not using the Top Menu.

@patrykos360 that template pack instruction for Continuum was made in October 2012 and it worked out very well for the person I helped out. The code may have changed since then. I opened the pastebin.com links you posted for page.php, sidebar.php, etc. to double-check the code but your pastebins do not have any content.

Can you also list the plugins you have installed?

It’s the CSS in your theme that is causing the problem. If you don’t know anything about CSS google around there are many many sites with tutorials on the basics.

Apologies. I should have revisited this sooner. The plugin is being re-worked and should be added to the repo shortly. It was always my intent to have it shared once it was completed. Stay tuned.

Unfortunately, you have a theme that is heavy handed with it’s css and is forcing it’s style over the BP css. Theme compatibility is working it’s just that your theme has css that is styling the BP markup in an unflattering light.

Theme compatibility is not perfect. It’s main goal is to get BuddyPress inside a WordPress and function. How it looks can rely on the WordPress as in your case.

You will need to change some of the css in your theme to fit BP inside better.

The simplest approach would to simply remove the markup in /members/single/settings/general.php
