But it’s too buggy for the current BuddyPress. (This is what I would saying)
I want only ask if the developers are making a remake of the plugin you said.

I am going to have to dredge up this topic again as I have gone through the process of completely reinstalling wordpress 3.5 and the latest version of buddypress 1.6.3 to a fresh new Ubuntu server with only my custom theme, database and alterations to buddypress that were not in the buddypress core file (obviously since the old one has been nuked) and I am still getting a 404 response (from within our wordpress page, not an apache 404) whenever I try to edit, sticky or delete a topic in the forums.

this is still the case even with the default buddypress theme.

This is a buddypress set up to do groupt forums, not sitewide and I do not have bbpress running at all (though interestingly enough, when bbpress was running alongside buddypress, I was not getting our site’s 404 response, but was getting a new topic form and the notification of “Oh bother, there are no topics here” – 0r something like that)

would really like to get this figured out as it is pretty critical and I don’t know how else to debug this (there has to be *some* clues as to why this is happening.)

It’s a tricky subject for sure. But to me it has not been an issue yet.

Thanks Ben! I never really look at my GA in great detail, but I do know that GA does not count visitors who have JS disabled. These visitors are usually bots. It could be that your site is being heavily targeted by bots/spammers which causes a lot of pageviews. On BP-Tricks I use CloudFlare (free) that blocks a lot of these threads and bots, which should save a lot of requests. 8 to 10 times as much hits is pretty crazy though, have you ever contacted support about this?

So basically any average perso ninstalling Buddypress will not have Flood Control, but a savvy developer can scratch his head and go fix Flood Control in more than one files:
– bp-core/bp-moderation.php
– bp-activity/bp-activity-functions.php
– bp-themes/bp-default/_inc/ajax.php

If you know what you’re doing and analyze / update code in these files, you can setup flood protection on your activity page, otherwise you’re fooled to think you have flood protection, at least in 1.6.2.
