ParticipantWould also like to know how to search the support forum and not buddypress.org.
Is there some kind of requirement to create a topic also?

MemberI’m not sure if this is what you mean. I’m pretty new to BP myself but there is the “Who’s Online Avatars” widget that shows who’s currently online in the footer or sidebar by showing their avatar.
Or you can look at the post below that lists the code to display the current user when online.
PS I haven’t tried the above code but I have the widget on my test site at:

ParticipantPlease make sure that your WP installation has been set up properly – pretty-permalinks included – before installing BuddyPress. In this vein, please post your mod_rewrite issue at the proper forum https://wordpress.org/support/forum/localhost-installs

KeymasterOr, create an achievement with negative points (i.e. how many you want to get rid of). Then award yourself it, then delete the achievement.
June 12, 2012 at 10:47 pm #135722Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterYou have to do this directly in the database. Go into the wp_usermeta table, and look for meta_key of something like ‘dpa_points’ or ‘achievements_points’. Find the user_id that you want to change, and edit the meta_value column.

ParticipantHello @djpaul
Thank you for the reply. I’ve solved that issue.
May I know is it possible to ‘reset’ the score for Achievements leaderboard? How to reset the # to 0? I was testing a few achievements on my side…
I tried to delete the achievement I’ve created, but the Leaderboard score still appeared

Please advice.

ParticipantPlease, only post once on a topic – posting in different sub forums will not get you a faster response.

@mercime
Participant@goviral Closed your other thread with basically the same questions.
1. To remove commenting (and comment button) in activity stream,
Just add this to your theme’s functions.php file
`// Do not allow commenting in activity stream
add_filter(‘bp_activity_can_comment’,’__return_false’);`2. is there any way I can change other buttons/icons through the child theme?
Simplest way is to use text-indent to the specific button and add the image background. For example, for the Activity Favorite button, you’d add something like this in your theme’s style.css file
`#activity-stream .activity-meta .fav {
background: #000 url(“images/myfavoriteimage.png”) 0 0 no-repeat;
text-indent: -9999px;
}`then change background color or image when you hover over the favorite link. Use Firefox add-on Firebug or use Chrome developer to identify selectors to change styles/values for in your stylesheet.

MemberYeah I tried it and was almost perfect for what I needed but I needed to limit the hierarchy so that only core groups could make sub groups instead of it being infinite.
I did post on there forums but no replies with no luck
I’m still learning WordPress and Buddypress and browsed the code but couldnt see how I would limit them.June 11, 2012 at 5:07 am #135655In reply to: Signatures on forum posts
@mercime
ParticipantNo, you’d need to create a totally different plugin to add signature to the Group Forums as it’s using the bbPress 1.0 custom BuddyPress version while that plugin is for the totally revamped bbPress 2.+ .
There was a plugin for the old BP1.2/bbPress1.+ but it was not updated for BP 1.5 https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-forum-extras/ you could try to update yourself or hire a developer to do so.
Other than the above, you could wait for BP 1.6 where Group Forums will be migrated over to bbPress 2.+ Sitewide Forums where you could use the signature plugin.

Participant@karljung from your post at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/installing-buddypress/forum/topic/compatability-with-enews-theme-from-elegant-themes/
I just checked out the BP pages in your site. Looks like you’ve already completed the major part of the compatibility process. The layout structure looks good and you only need to tweak the styles to correct some vertical spacing and removing the bullets from ordered lists, etc.

ParticipantThanks @mercime that’s what I thought. But, that seems very odd to me – why not have one that works on both types of forums. This is a pretty basic thing to offer to members.
I know enough php to get myself into trouble, with some guidance do you think I could perhaps edit that plugin to make it work on group forums?
thanks for your help

Participant@aarc I didn’t notice that the code got messed up above before I left the forums, sorry about that.
Delete the current content of your sidebar-buddypress.php file. Replace it with the cleaned up code above and upload to server.

MemberThanks. Could I create the ‘Forums’ page and add a few shortcodes (as per the link below) in there to pull in the forum? Or is this something that could unsettle the rest of the installtion?
June 10, 2012 at 8:33 pm #135642Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterSitewide forums — aka bbPress 2.0 — doesn’t use (and is not associated with) a page.
