Many thanks for your reply.
I’m afraid I do not know the Avatar upload is controlled.
I have no special plugins.
The 2 plugins I use are BuddyPress template pack and bbpress plugin.
The avatar control is probably through those (except WordPress always has had avatar control so possibly it is inbuilt from my WP theme?).
I don’t know exactly as I am so new to BuddyPress!-sorry…

I am more concerned still about my BP site functionality and have several questions on that eg
1.How do I create a forum topic?

2. Why is settings>general returning a blank browser page?

In short how do I use BuddyPress and what can I do with it on my site given that I mainly want to use it as a forum?

Ok, I didn’t see that sidebar with the analog clock earlier on the registration page.

You will need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your weaver theme in server during the compatibility process.

If you’ve changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility

Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.

Gerry, looks like you have it sorted, I just checked your website. I too am experiencing
the same after following the guide to a letter on how to install bbpress with buddpress and integrate them. I can view my bbpres forums no problems when I select them with a widget in the sidebar but when you select the Forum page, nothing comes up. The same goes with members, progiles, activity etc. How did you go did you do just as stated above or did you find an easier fix/solution.
my site is http://www.smartdroid-rom.kleinrealms.com it has me stumped, and already this is my second complete rebuild, I’d hate to have to redo the whole site again.

That should *not* be in your bb-config.php. If you haven’t edited or overwritten that file, it’s possible your site has been hacked, so I’d check that aspect out first.

Once you’ve cleared any problems with that, try deleting your bb-config.php, then go back to the BuddyPress ‘Forums Setup’ in wp-admin and tell it ‘reinstall’ the forum config.

Bpd/theme compat issues shouldn’t affect bbPress 2 at all. Maybe go on the bbPress.org forums and see if there are similar problems reported.

oh ok I see.. well I guess I’ll turn off altogether all profile activities at this point because I don’t use groups, forums with bb2.0 are not supported and commenting on posts is neither

I’ll look forward for BP1.6

is much code going to change from bp1.5.x to 1.6? right now I’m developing some custom theme for wp/bb/bp and customising the profile pages as well (like inserting new tabs…) I hope it won’t break when I’ll upgrade to 1.6

I’m trying to find an answer to this myself. I read something, somewhere that I forgot to bookmark, that basically said this is working as intended. But it seems like massive design flaw. It seems as if it should be able to be fixed, since I CAN see all groups as Admin.

I’ve tried playing with stuff with user access plugins and I can’t find anything to toggle that helps. Assuming it is simply in the theme or plugin somewhere, but I can’t put it together.

Nevermind – fixed. For some reason a Members page was created with Groups etc. as a subcategory.

So both the forum tab and forum activity on the activity feed are disabled because of lack of support for BBpress 2.0 plugin?

But how about the reason why comments made on other custom post types posts won’t work? is it the for similar reasons? ( in that case unsurprisingly because BBPress 2.0 is essentially cpt at work)

will that be fixed altogether with 1.6? and when 1.6 is going to be released, realistically?

@substrato as listed on the roadmap (https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap/) bbpress 2.0 will have full intergration in buddypress 1.6.

And can you confirm that you actually have gone through the setup process to ensure forums are activated for groups, and moved necessary bb-config file to site root if not there and that is has correct connection details as your wp-config file has.

Ok, so here are some pictures showing the formatting problems I’m experiencing. I’m sure that the tweaks you posted about probably fix some of them, but I added them to the end of my style.css (see the pastebin link in the post above) and didn’t see any changes take effect.

Here is a screenshot of a buddypress user profile. As you can see, the bottom is cut off. I also want to get rid of the bulletpoints next to each link on the profile.

Here is a screenshot of some sample groups I created… The descriptions are cut off on them. And the text on the right side goes beyond the white text box background.

@mercime Yes we enabled forums for each group in the original setup and have re-checked these are correct now. Still no joy!
