KeymasterYes. Use bbPress 2.x (we refer to this inside BuddyPress as “Sitewide forums”). By the time you guys decide if you need a social layer in addition to a forum, both bbPress and BuddyPress will be ready to integrate.

Participant@remedy01 – You need to enable forums for the group. Go to that specific group’s > Admin > and check Enable forum

ParticipantIf you don’t mind, can you tell me where is your site hosted or what kind of set-up you have? It is pretty fast – my buddypress set-up runs much slower.

KeymasterBuddyPress doesn’t do anything with user authentication. Get it working with WordPress, and it’ll work with BuddyPress. For further advice, it’s probably worth searching the WordPress.org forums as I imagine this sort of topic has come up in the past.

@mercime
Participant== Posting to forums seem to be working, but when I go to my profile to see my list of forum posts, that is blank ==
Change your display name in profile to something different from your username.
== When I try and post in a group or comment/reply to anything in the activity stream, I get the error “There was an error posting that reply, please try again.” ==
Commenting on site activity is disabled. Click on the link to forum post and please reply there.

Participant== Am unable to access my dashboard to deactivate. Any advice? ==
Rename the buddypress folder in wp-content/plugins/ to e.g. buddypress-xx== My site keeps sending me messages saying pages (members, forums, etc) have been added to the site. ==
Did you install a plugin like Demo Data Creator or BuddyPress Default Data? If not, then people are still able to log in despite the fact that you cannot – which is not likely.February 7, 2012 at 6:06 pm #129426In reply to: Buddy Press Forums Not Working

MemberYes, it seems to be activated. From WPadmin, I can see Forums, All Forums and New Forums and I can create a new one. No Topics and Replies buttons though.
The forums base for bbPress is forums
The single slug is forumsIt does say there may be a conflict with buddy press with these slugs, but the buddypress forum option is turned off.
Thanks,
Garland

MemberPaul,
I set up a 2nd group forum tonight. After entering “Groups”, I can see, enter, and post in both of the group forums that I have created. Comments are working in the group forums.
I only get the message “The forums component has not been set up yet.” within a red border when I enter “Forums”.
Sooo, how do I provide for 904 agents that might want to make an entry within forums? We had a vision for opening up our forums to public comments, thus the selection of statewide forums.
Thanks again for your help and advice.
Mike

KeymasterRight now, the forums component in BuddyPress is only used for BuddyPress Groups. These group forums don’t use the same version of bbPress that the sitewide forums do.
Are you getting the “forums not set up” message when you go into a group and click on its forum tab?

MemberNot sure if this is the proper place to put this, been trying to navigate these forums for a while, and boy, I’m sure a newbie. But I have buddypress running with twentyeleven, ran the buddypress converter plugin as well, and created a child theme for twenty eleven. I’ve been making adjustments and so far everything is working alright except for the sidebar getting pushed down. I’ve tried to implement all kinds of options based on other answers I’ve read here and elsewhere, but so far nothing seems to work. Am I missing something obvious? Please help! For example it is happening on this page: http://inchelan.com/user-groups
Thank you so much.
