@ChrisClayton
Participant@FuriousCigars “I doubt anyone here is really worried about my one site” I’m worried. Not about you deactivating buddypress, that’s your problem… but i am worried about your site

Firstly, have you read through the codex? https://codex.buddypress.org/troubleshooting/navigation-links-return-404-errors/
Secondly, are you running any other WordPress plugins? Their usually the common cause of 404 errors (in my experience). If you can, deactivate them all (except for buddypress) and see if the problem gets resolved. if it is resolved start reactivating them all one by one to find the culprit.

KeymasterYes. You’re probably better off looking at the bbPress.org support forums for that specific question.

MemberI’ve verified that the BP files on our BlueHost server are in agreement with the table published following step 5 of the activation wizard outline.
Given this fact, do you suppose I might have a good BP install and simply need to work through the Genesis Child Theme tempate issues to get a good presentation outcome for BP?
Genesis Connect claims to make changes in the way log ins are handled and reports in the Genesis Connect support forum as follows:
**************Quote
Actually, GC *does* offer extra functionality, in addition to the required templates I mentioned in the other thread.Custom registration llink to stop spammers, support for Simple Menus and Simple Sidebars, so you can have different menus and/or sidebars on the BuddyPress pages, and showing whether the user is logged in or not.
I’ve attached an image of the Settings page for GC.
If you do try out the BP template pack, be aware it physically places files and folders in your child theme. They *must* be removed before you use GenesisConnect, becasue they will override the plugin. ************* End of quote
In my case,support at StudioPress believes that a re-install may not be required.

Thanks for your further review. I’ll appreciate any further thoughts you might offer.

Keymaster1. Yes, you get that out of the box.
2. There are a couple ways to make this happen. One is a plugin called BP Album (or BP Media): http://code.google.com/p/buddypress-media/ Another is a simple forum attachment plugin, which is a bit outdated and not easy to set up on all systems, but might be worth a look: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/forum-attachments-for-buddypress/
3. BP Media is your best bet for that.Good luck with BuddyPress!

Participantthe solution to your pain may be found at:
http://wpmu.org/guide-to-buddypress-forums-how-to-set-up-group-or-sitewide-forums/especially the para:
Setting up sitewide forums can be a bit tricky. After you install and activate bbPress, you’ll need to add the bbPress shortcode for your forums index to that page:
[bbp-forum-index]
Check your bbPress settings page in the dashboard to see if you’ve got a page/slug conflict with BuddyPress. If you have any trouble, you may want to try unticking the Discussion Forum box in the Components setup page. I’ve found that this helps users who are getting the error: “The forums component has not been set up yet.” I’m sure this process will be smoother in the future, but for now that hint may come in handy.I was running into the same issue as you, and this solved it.
Good luck!February 1, 2012 at 12:39 pm #129007antrophe

MemberHi Guys. As a test I now installed a fresh copy of BuddyPress plus bbPress on a different domain and I have the exact same problem there. This time I did not run the Group Forum installation. Hope this helps. Please let me know. I’m desperate to get this working.
Thanks,

ParticipantSo I finally cracked what’s ailing this forum’s comment posting code
If you include a properly referenced superglobal variable in your comment content, then the system just replies with “It looks like you’ve already said that! ”Anyway, in the code that I’ve posted above, you’ll need to replace all occurrences of _POST with the proper superglobal variable reference.

MemberPart of what I would like to understand – is how clicking a button in the BuddyPress forum to create a group – somehow triggered an error on a PHP page in TheCartPress? How could those two totally different pages/templates/systems trigger that kind of error?

MemberHi Paul,
Thanks. Do you know of anything that does… even its hacky? I’m very, very desperate. I’ve scoured the forums – tried every plugin under the sun… but nothing works…
Even if I can just intercept the email – and direct it to the admin, and replace the text on the thankyou page to say “An admin will approve you” or something like that…
Thanks,

MemberQuick update. The ‘Forums’ link I clicked on was a custom menu. After deleting the custom menu, Forums does not show in the menu at all. When navigating to ‘Settings, Forums’ I still get the ‘Possible BuddyPress conflict: Forums page’ message. I hope this makes sense.

MemberHi Mecrime
I deleted the bb-config.php as suggested. Now however when I click on ‘Forums’ I get taken to the profile page of the logged in user. I tried to also unsinstall the bbPress plugin and reinsstalled and created a new forum but the problem persists. Let me know if I could allow you in to have a look at it.
Thanks,

MemberHi Paul. In the BuddyPress menu, I clicked on ‘Uninstall Group Forums’. However, this process doesn’t seem to work. When I log out and back in again, I again have the option to uninstall. This confirms my suspicion that it’s in fact not being uninstalled. Any ideas?

KeymasterHow did you “uninstall” group forums?
January 31, 2012 at 9:40 am #128913In reply to: Alligning Buddypress with Swatch theme
@mercime
ParticipantBP Template Pack process copies 6 folders from bp-default theme within the buddypress plugin folder into the active WP theme – in your case, the swatch theme folder in server.
You can download BuddyPress, unzip, and go to bp-themes/bp-default/ folder where you’ll find the 6 folders (activity, blogs, forums, groups, members, registration) which contain the 16 files you need to revise. After you’ve done the revisions, upload those 6 folders via FTP/cpanel/etc to server wp-content/themes/swatch/ folder

January 31, 2012 at 4:55 am #128891In reply to: [Resolved] Alligning Buddypress with Reaction Theme
@mercime
ParticipantMake sure that you have pristine copies of the BP template files i.e. that the files you tried to revise over the last week were replaced with the original BP template files.
– Delete the 6 BP template folders in your reaction theme namely: activity/ blogs/ forums/ groups/ members/ registration/
– Re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility and go through whole process until the end.
– Check the BP component pages again.Otherwise, site uri?
