ParticipantThanks everyone for the lively discussion – happy that I’m not the only one suffering with this issue but feel sorry for all of us! I’ve eliminated one problem – I was getting a duplication of a group every time I set up a new one – I wasn’t running the latest php version for BuddyPress requirements on my dedicated server. This issue is now resolved.
However, I am still having problems with forum creation. The bb-config.php file is in the correct place in the root directory and all settings are also OK. This is a real mystery – I was hoping that the new BuddyPress version uploaded this week would solve the problem – no.

MemberYes, the issue was caused by a plugin… tiny mce! I disabled it and now it works.
Except that the central group forums doesn’t work anymore… instead of it I can see only a wp blank page: http://community.lavocedelladea.it/forums

Memberthis would be the group forum. I have read this link and I have followed the procedure listed. It does not help unfortunately. see http://weblance.com/forum/forums/ and select the topic to view issue.

Participant== All links on the site work EXCEPT post links. Any post in the forum does not work and produces a 404 error. ==
Which forum – the group forums or the sitewide forums?
December 16, 2011 at 10:03 pm #126506@mercime
ParticipantJust to clarify, Is this happening for topics posted in Group Forums or is this happening for your Sitewide Forums?

Memberhi neononcon,
it’s been a month since last reply but may i add my opinion here..
study carefully first about the features of BuddyPress (as well as other social tools) before u really implements it on your working site. yes, there are options to disable forum, if you don’t really want to use it. BuddyPress, forum, twitter, or FaceBook connect are great tools to communicate with site audience. install them all and your site will look perfect, but it can be overwhelming and time consuming to reply all questions here and there. technology evolves way much faster than good documentations

ParticipantI tested out that plugin, I couldn’t see any options to add in my forums and stuff to the XML file in the settings page, does this still work?

MemberI’ve been testing this out on an Apache server, and I get the same error when I try to post to a forum from the forum directory page. If I go into a group forum, I can post there. On the windows based server, I click on forums under a group and nothing happens.
I’d really prefer sitewide forums, and I’ve looked at bbpress, but it does not support a forum reply rating system. BP does. I’ve tried installing the site wide forums alongside the groups, but nothing happens when I click the button to install it. Says it’s already installed. Is there another solution I’m missing?

MemberOkay, all the DB info matches up with the wp-config.php.

ParticipantGood. See if you have the bb-config.php you should have at the root of your WP install and check if necessary DB information is correct in bb-config.php

ParticipantSorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime, you can use Google search and input “buddypress.org topic/keywords”. Google has indexed our forums pretty well.

Member@mercime, Windows server, WP 3.2.1. BP 1.5.2, the only table that mentions forums is one called “wp_bb_forums” and there is a bb-config.php in the root WP installation. Hope that helps!

Participant@tjherman are you on Windows or Linux server? WP 3.2.1 or WP 3.3? BP 1.5.1 or 1.5.2? Have you checked your database if 7 tables were generated for the forums and whether bb-config.php was generated at the root of your WP installation?
