ParticipantYou can simply replace the WordPress search form code in your theme template with the following (it will give you the standard BP search form for Members, Groups, Blogs, Forums, Posts). Plus, the “Search anything…” default text will disappear when the user clicks in it.
`<form action="” method=”post” id=”search-form”>
<input type="text" id="search-terms" name="search-terms" value="” onfocus=”if (this.value == ” ) { this.value = ”; }” onblur=”if (this.value == ”) { this.value = ”;}” /> in<input type="submit" name="search-submit" id="search-submit" value="” />

KeymasterIn the WP admin dashboard, try navigating to “BuddyPress > Forums”.
Under “Forums for Groups”, try clicking on “Install Group Forums”. If you don’t see that, click on “Uninstall group forums”, then you should see the Install Group Forums button, click on that button.
Next, under “BuddyPress > Components”, make sure that “Discussion Forums” is checked.

If that doesn’t work, it could be a database problem. Try logging into phpMyAdmin and repairing your tables.
Also make sure that the following tables exist and have data populated in them:
* wp_bb_forums
* wp_bb_meta
* wp_bb_posts
* wp_bb_terms
* wp_bb_term_relationships
* wp_bb_term_taxonomy
* wp_bb_topicsNovember 24, 2011 at 6:36 pm #124964In reply to: [Resolved] My forum is gone

ParticipantHello mercime, thank you for your assistence..
No, I didn’t make any upgrade in this month.. nor installed a new plugin.. My forums worked good before..
But I have some changes because my site was hacked, and this affected the Buddypress default theme: all my index.php files receive a malicious code.
I cleaned all files, changed my passwords, etc… When I saw the problem with the forums (today) I reinstalled all Buddypress files.. but the forum doesn’t work.
I used Installation Wizard when installed Buddypress.. Any idea?

Participant== I’m using BP 1.5.1, I didn’t have problem until days ago ==
Did you just upgrade and/or install a new theme or plugin recently?
Did you go through the Installation Wizard?
Have you gone to dashboard menu BuddyPress > Forums > Forums for Groups – and clicked on Use Existing Installation?November 24, 2011 at 4:23 pm #124955In reply to: Home page pitch for people who aren’t logged in

KeymasterLooks like the bundled version of bbPress is missing from your BuddyPress install.
Try downloading and installing a brand new install of BuddyPress:

Member@etivite one last question does your plugin allow to hide replys on the creation of groups and join of group notifications on the activity stream? I did notice the option under setting removed the replys to the forum posts and new forums posts which is perfect, but not the creation and joining notifications.
Thank you,

ParticipantCould it be this page doesn’t run the current version 1.5.1, because in the development process these problems disappeared on testbp?

MemberThanks for the replys, @nahummadrid i’ll try that and let you know if that works. How else can they create a group? I’ve done a lot of mods and made my version very simple and locked out a bunch of items and screens.
@modemlooper I’m using an older version of bp 1.2.9 because I needed the universal search with highlighting that i wrote. I could not get unified searching to work with 1.5.1. Also I was told by the bp developers that site wide forum notifications do not post on activity as well on 1.5.1 which I need. If you know a way for unified search to work on 1.5.1 I’m all ears. thanks again

Nahum
Participantremoving the button from the groups index page alone will not stop your members from being able to create groups…
have you seen this…to limit group creation to admins
If you just want to hide the button…maybe something like
`<?php if (is_user_logged_in() && current_user_can('administrator'))
>
your button stuff

MemberI also lost my Forums and Groups when I upgraded to BP 1.5 with WP 3.2.1. In fact, I’m not able to upload any images either so I went back to the older version of BP and everything came back. What’s the deal-eo?

KeymasterCertainly, all the other bbPress tables should not have been deleted. We deleted zero tables from 1.2.10 to 1.5, and we wouldn’t ever add or remove any of the bb_ tables.

ParticipantThere has been quite a lot of discussion about ‘privacy’ in buddypress since v 1.5.1 came out.
For instance, there is the walled garden technique: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/privacy-3/#post-113808
Different menus for logged in or out users: here or this

MemberI know this is pretty old, but the issue still exists. It may be “intended behavior”, but that doesn’t mean it’s “desirable behavior”.
I was working on a somewhat atypical install of BP that was using groups for membership/subscription control, and only using the main forum listing, not individual group forums. Not having stickies working here was a BIG problem!
Anyway, for all those interested in hacking out a solution, look no further. In the buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-template.php file, edit the defaults at the top of the bp_has_forum_topics function. (Line 268).
Change $do_stickies = false; to $do_stickies = true;(This is in reference to version 1.5.1)
