First sub nav points to the primary tab for all core tabs
To remove sub nav you can use the following approach, but it will not work for first sub nav like the view
// remove nav forums and coures
function bb_remove_extra_tab() {
global $bp;
bp_core_remove_nav_item( 'friends' );
bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'profile', 'edit' );
}
add_action( 'bp_actions', 'bb_remove_extra_tab', 999 );
Hi
Try asking your question over at bbPress. They handle forum-related questions.
Hi there,
I’m quite new to the Buddy/BB scene, although I’ve been building WP sites for a while now.
Usually, WP Bakery’s Visual Composer is one of my key building blocks, but that does not go well for me in the Buddy/BB forum site I’m setting up now.
When I’m setting up a Forum, I get the option of using VC’s backend editor in order to get the content and lay-out right, but when I preview the page, I get a text block showing all the VC shortcodes.
Am I doing something wrong or are VC and BuddyPress bad bed fellows?
I’m using the latest versions of all software and plugins. I’m using kBase theme by https://wedesignthemes.com/
The site runs under http://dev.eltrex-motion.com/forums/
Thanks!
Bye
Ward
@requincreative I do not think, some list like that is maintained 🙂
You can post inside https://buddypress.org/support/forum/plugin-forums/bp-jobs-board/ any interested developer will contact you.
Thank you @vapvarun. I honestly don’t have the time to interview Upwork contractors. I figured that there would be some names around the BuddyPress support forum or a list of know experts.
Hi
I have figure it out where the issue is i have checked this 3 components
PLease see screenshot
https://prnt.sc/j7k2k1
So i can now assign my member page
http://prntscr.com/j7k7uf
So can you please give easy way instrutions or tutorial?
On How can i make this Please!
1.Create Buddypress Community
*Users can create and update profiles, including the use of profile photos. Site administrators can easily set up the parameters of the user profiles.
*Users can befriend one another. The site owner can decide what special abilities friends have with regard to one another.
*Users can send private messages. BuddyBoss comes with a robust private messaging system, similar to that found on Facebook. Users can choose whether or not to receive an email notification when someone sends them a message.
*Users can form and join groups. Groups can be used for a wide range of functions within the website. Administrators can choose to let their users create and join groups of common interest.
*Users can follow activity streams. BuddyPress activity streams provide a quick digest of the recent activity going on within a site or with regard to a particular user.
*Users can create blogs. Capitalizing on the full functionality of WordPress, the most popular blogging platform in the world, BuddyPress gives administrators and users a full-featured online publishing platform.
*Users can participate in forum discussions. BuddyPress is fully integrated with bbPress, a slick forum system.
2. Active Login portal with Facebook or Google login credentials.
3. Active User generated material through BuddyForms or other methods.
Please advice thank you!
You would install bbPress and add a page called forums, the sitewide forums would appear their, to add group forums you would go to Dashboard>>Settings>>Forums and enable group forums.
One decision is if you want the group forums to appear in the forums list on the forums page. How I’ve described will do that. To keep them separate you would assign them a different root forum.
The forum is supplied by bbPress, with it you can provide group specific and sitewide forums.
I think this would be better asked in the bbPress forum, they will have better ideas as to what’s possible. I’ve not heard of such a plugin.
You need to ask this on the BuddyDev forum, they should be able to help.
Presumably this is referring to the BuddyPress Group Email Subscription plugin? Have you tried rasing this as a feature request on that plugins forums?
I think there’s a few ways of achieving this, for one thing there’s a bunch of plugins that change the default activity feed in the members howmepage. Take a look at https://buddydev.com/plugins/facebook-like-user-activity-stream-for-buddypress/ That would make a good start.
Another way is to Overload the activity-loop page in BuuddyPress, this basciall does what the plugins do, but without a plugin. You can take the default page from the plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/activity-loop.php and change the way the activity filters work for your site. It’s a bit more advanced but there’s plenty of forum posts about doing it.
Did you try the forum notifier plugin? You can also have a look at other plugins here Best BuddyPress Plugins
No one knows? I thought these forums are hosted by the devs of the plugin so kinda hoped to get a reply…
Please, if someone can help me, this issue is going to make me crazy, I’m stuck and can’t progress until I get a bit of assistance.
Hi Steve,
My initial version is ready – https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-profile-shortcodes-extra/
I’d welcome any feedback about the shortcodes and how they work. There were a number of options I was not sure about, for example if they needed to display a title.
I opted to omit activity and forum shortcodes in this initial release as there are existing shortcodes for these, though in the longer term I do think it would be nice to collect everything into one plugin.
This sounds like bbPress is not recognizing that you have an avatar set and is serving you the default avatar when you are posting in the forums. You might be better off posting this question in the bbPress forum as they are the experts. I’m relly not sure what else to suggest.
It’s true blog posts content and also forum post content can be displayed in the activity stream, but a What’s New activity update can’t create a post. Though I’m thinking what you are after is a variable structure What’s New input form, with the ability to tag each activity update as one of your categories, with the ability to change the format of the activity update depending on the category it’s going to be posted as.
I think that would take quite a bit of work, you’d probably need to overload the page that creates the What’s new section on the page and add Javascript to hide parts of that section depending on the button clicked. You’d also need to change the basic text input form to an editor with a lot of features – swap it out for the wp_editor input field so you get editor buttons and also the ability to add images.
I’m not aware of any plugins that come close to providing that kind of functionality, it’s all doable of course, but I think quite a bit of effort would be required.
Sure thing. I want to be able to have users post in those three post-types because of how they function. A blog post (custom post type) is suited for a story, a longer-form thing. A forum post is great for Q/A, and a “Tutor Tip” for example sits somewhere between a blog post and a simple status update, so I’m thinking about a second custom post type.
The main UX design choice for this is to have all of those options in one place, rather than sub-pages or sub-menus, etc.
It’s also easy for our moderators to be able to “feature” a blog post.
With buddypress, it’s my understanding that blog posts (with plugins like buddyblock, etc) show up in the activity feed, forum posts can be told to show up in the activity feed.
My thought is either to have three fields(Story, Question, Tip) , which have buttons that toggle their respective visibility.
Or
Have the one field, and the buttons change the destination on submit to one of the three.
Does that help?
No – as I no longer had the option to login vi a BuddyPress
Its the login widget on this page that is the issue and disappears when i deactivate the plugins

I’m uncertain as to your described use case, the What’s New input is for activity, not forum posts or CPT’s, could you describe further how you see this working?
I’m seeing the pattern now. Even in forums more than a decade old (and before @ mentions became a feature on many sites), people used @username even if it did nothing. This was simply shorthand for getting a specific person’s attention in a thread with many participants.
Looks as though BuddyPress is trying to be smart and pull these @ mentions from old content and add them to the activity stream. Since it’s a new addition to the activity stream, BuddyPress also thinks it’s new and therefore sends out an email notification. This is why it only affects old members.
Now… How do stop it?
Stopping notifications across the board is not a good idea. Even if I do it now and turn it back on later, we’ll never know when an old member might join us again. So really the only solution is to have BuddyPress stop importing old forum posting with the ‘@’ character into a new activity.
Still open to suggestions. Thanks.
Hello,
On another forum, I had this suggestion with WP function 🙂
But I am embarrassed if I can not put a default value to my numeric field!
$users = get_users( [ 'fields' => 'ids' ] );
global $wpdb;
/** @var \WP_User $user */
foreach ( $users as $user_id ) {
$results = $wpdb->insert(
'bp_xprofile_data',
[
'field_id' => 794,
'user_id' => $user_id,
'value' => 4,
'last_updated' => new \DateTime()
],
[ '%d', '%d', '%d', '%s' ]
);
}
regards
Dear Forum,
I’d like to disable the email confirmation from the old email address when a user change from setting menu its account email. I know it is dangerous but I really need it.
If it is not possible for you to write for me the code, could you please at least give me some suggestions? What is the file I have to edit? I tried to do some edit to /plugins/buddypress/bp-settings/bp-settings-actions.php but I think it is not the right file. I tries also /plugins/buddypress/bp-settings/bp-settings-template.php but this control only the pending email confirmation alert (Check your email (%1$s) for the verification link, or cancel the pending change).
Is there somenone who can help me?
Thank you in advance!
Giuly
Ok. Thanks. I’ve turned the html option off on the forums so it will no longer
cause issues. Thanks.
This will be a bbPress configuration; I don’t know if it’s possible. Try https://bbpress.org/forums/
