    I struggled with this for weeks. It never worked out well for me.
    I used the Register Helper add-on plugin to add custom fields to the PMPro registration. I tried the above mentioned fixes, but nothing I tried let the PMPro registration process communicate with the BuddyPress (basically, I wanted one registration page to fill out the BuddyPress profile AND the necissary PMPro info).
    Whichever way I tried it, they remained seperate. Of course, the PMPro registration process did add the user to BuddyPress, but with an empty profile, regardless of the custom fields that I added.

    FINALLY, after MANY hours of working with this, I tried s2Member. This plugin is much more involved to configure, BUT it works perfectly AND integrates well with MailChimp. So now, I not only have integration with BuddyPress (specifically the profile, although the display is a bit off), but also with Mailchimp. And, this means that I can have different mail-lists or mail-list groups within Mailchimp! Perfect 🙂

    Basically, what I am saying is that if you want a better integration, go with s2Member.

    Note: I did not pay the $300 / year for paid membership pro support (too expensive for me), maybe they would have been able to help me resolve this issue. I did scour the forum and glean every bit of info I could to solve this without paying, but to no avail. BUT, with s2Member, it is free AND only $80 one time for the Pro version of the plugin.

    Good luck!

    And, if anyone sees this and has a solution, please add. As people (I assume because I was) are still looking for a solution.

    You can exclude roles from the members directory like so:

    function steve_exclude_members_loop( $retval ) {

        if ( bp_is_members_directory() ) {

    		$exclude_ids = get_users(
    			array(
    			        'fields' => 'ID',
    				'role__in' => array( 'editor', 'author' )
    			)
    		);

            $retval['exclude'] = $exclude_ids;
        }

        return $retval;
    }
    add_filter( 'bp_before_has_members_parse_args', 'steve_exclude_members_loop' );

    Your other issues involve the other plugins you’re using and are more complicated and beyond the scope of these forums.

    Hello wlaurito,

    Thank you very much for your suggestion. Actually I am using BP Docs, but to upload documents and firmwares. I dont know how can i do what i have in my mind. I dont find anything.

    Another idea i had was to maybe create automatically the forum structure every time one group is created. Do you know how to achieve this?

    Thank you very much!

    Kind Regards
    Ting

    Based on your other forum post, I’m guessing this is also a Buddyforms question, and your best bet is to contact them for support:

    Hi shanebp,
    Great idea but doesnt quite work for me as this method is going to change the wording throughout the site.
    On the groups home page i have the links menu to – Home Forum Members. I just need to change Forum to Date-Forum
    thanks

    I’m confused about what you’re trying to do, but if you want to restrict access to forums, then, yes, private groups are an excellent option. First, create a forum in wp-admin, then create a private group. Then, in the group management tab, check the box “Yes, I want this group to have a forum” and select the forum you just created.

    Then, only users who belong to private group will be able to use that forum.

    There were also comments about coming on to forums (not necessarily this one, but probably including it) and being attacked for asking questions. I was warned to say ‘be nice’ but I assume that people will be nice, or else won’t take the time to reply – after all, why bother if just going to be impatient and irritated.

    Anyway, I wonder how users find it – do you often run into compatibility issues, or do these seem to resolve themselves with new updates? Do you often find you do have to work with code to resolve issues or you can normally figure it out with a Google Search. I’ve no intention of using any lesser-known plugins with it, so I’m thinking the most popular ones are probably compatible – or is this a false assumption?

    In terms of support, I could pay the odd fiverr.com person to sort it for me, but not if it was a huge programming issue (as I imagine it would be expensive, and as I said – it’s a small (educational) business). It’s really important the forums are up more or less always (although everyone knows any software can fail at any time of course).

    Thank you for sharing your experiences.

    BP is free to use as you wish.
    As to whether you may run into issues, you might, you might not.
    There is a staggering number of themes and plugins in the WP world.
    There is no way for BP to account for all the possible combinations.
    Nor it is reasonable for people to expect these forums ( run by volunteers ) to solve or even respond to any and all issues that may arise.

    BuddyPress is used by many businesses as part of their offerings.
    The larger and / or more complex the business, the greater the need for a technical support budget.

    By ‘not a techie’ I mean I’m unlikely to be able to use code to fix issues myself, and I don’t understand many of the terms used in solutions offered on these forums…

    Very useful pointers, Slava. Many thanks from another forum reader/member with a similar question. Answered well!

    I would also be interesting in hearing about a tool to list user progress.

    Either automatic based on forum use or manually adjusted by admins.

    Did you find a solution @asc349 ?

    Hi @tmc5005,

    Just a heads up, letting people post to your forum/site/blog without being logged in is a huge security issue. Think of it this way: Any total stranger can make edits to your website, and add text or code. That’s basically the definition of an XSS attack, and can lead to your site being severely hacked. That would put you and your site’s members at risk.

    Trust me, you want people to be logged in.

    Haven’t I been trolled enough by this plugin? I just want it GONE

    So Automattic owns this plugin? Why not dedicate some developers etc towards it, towards the support forums, towards making it look pretty, etc. I’ve never seen a plugin with such popularity be so neglected on 2017 standards.

    You can create member types.
    Then you would need to customize the registration form and member profiles per the selected member type.
    These customizations will require good skills as a WP / BP developer.
    You can post a job here.

    If you can’t find a migration tool, then you’d need to write one or hire a developer to do so.

    Update: The meta_value saved in wp_bp_messages_meta for meta_key _oembed-***** has the wrong URL saved in there so the problem is occurring before the data is saved. The fact that this same problem happened on my site as well as in this forum is interesting and leads me to believe the problem is somewhere in wordpress or buddypress core files.

    Note some steps could be missing here but hope this helps with the general direction 🙂

    1. Look for “Users” in left sidebar of WordPress wp-admin area
    2. Click “Profile Fields” and there should be a box which you might have named “Terms of Use” – NOTE: if you changed the “Name (Primary) (Required)” to your terms of use field, you should change this back as it syncs with the person’s name
    3. Click the blue button “Add New Field” and name it “By registering to ThoseCrazyVegans.net, you agree to the <a href="/terms-of-use/">Terms of Use</a>” (the title accepts HTML at least for now)
    4. Then, choose “Checkboxes” for the “Type” below it and type “Yes, I agree to the terms of use” and don’t check Default Value
    5. You can also choose “requirement” as required
    6. Choose “enforce field visibility”
    7. Then click update

    I use a different method for registering but hope this helps.

    (Sorry having difficulties posting to the forum. Apologies for duplicate replies… Wish there was a way to delete)

    You’ll need to write some custom code.

    Add a buddypress members loop on the template you use to show your posts.

    Filter the members loop by their address.

    If you write some code and run into issues, you may get some feedback on these forums.

    Or you could post to the Jobs Board and hire a developer.
