Eureka! it works. Thanks again for this great plugin.

Btw, the sigs won’t work UNTIL you update the admin settings and choose a max length / max lines. May be best to set a default value for that?

EDIT It’s behaving like the #link

Maybe the do action is in the wrong place?

ok tagged 0.1.3 as another bug on saving the sig settings popped up

when you quote shouldn’t it put the text into the box? i’m not getting this to work. The quote button is there when you click it moves down to box but nothing is entered.

I’d need some more info (do you have firebug? anything on net and xhr?) – but clicking “Quote” won’t onfocus to the textarea, so it shouldn’t move down. Do you have any other plugins installed that manipulate the textarea?

Ok, *believe* I found the issue. I just tagged up 0.1.2 – so grab it when the site updates and please let me know if everything is working.

etiviti, The contents of the sig were “test sig”. And I cannot set the max lines/max length… it just says “settings saved” but the fields remain blank.

just heard from a user who had the same issue as me – cannot set sig.

I’ll message you this info as requested, but wanted to post it here in case anyone else has the same issue.

    SOLVED!

After reading a different post about bbpress tables not installing, it turns out to be a memory issue.

I upped my memory limit in php.ini and all installed perfectly.

    Hope this helps someone else.

message me the contents of the sig you are trying to save – i’m on single but i’ll install wpmu and see if i can’t replicate the issue. (what are the max lines/max length set to?)

    One quick note –

I noticed that there doesn’t seem to be any bbpress related tables in the database…. there are bp_ and wp_ but I thought that bbpress would be bb_

If the tables are missing, what’s a guy to do? (I thought that the install was too quick!)

    etiviti,

    1. I think a lot of us got thrown off by the sub-plugin thing… maybe good to include a “instructions for dummies” that emphasizes you have to activate sub-plugins…

    2. BBcode and quotes are bulletproof. The addition of @mentions was ingenious. THANK YOU!!

    3. Signatures don’t work for me. I keep getting a “Signature removed!” error every time I try to post a sig. I’m just using plain text, no tags.

Update: Signature strangeness continues… I did a “vanilla” install of WPMU 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.2.1. I could add a signature successfully ONCE, but when I went back to change it, I got the “Signature Removed!” error again.

also an indirect feature of quotes is notification to the quoted member. (since the forum_activity_update will register the @mention )

I’ve installed the plugins but when I click ‘Forum Extra’ link in dashboard, the plugins admin page doesn’t show up.

A blank page with just a title (or a WSOD)? make sure you enable the subplugins (ie, BuddyPress Forums Extras – Quote)

If it works, then the Forums Extra admin page would look like this:

    Group Forum Extras

    Ajaxed Quote enabled.

where do users enter their signatures? I don’t see the field anywhere:

Under the member profile page, click the profile tab, then in the subnav menu – next to Change Avatar is ‘Change Signature’

    mybuddypressurl/members/memberusername/profile/forum-signature/

    FYI –

I’ve run into the same identical situation.

I’m with WP2.9.2 (latest) and BuddyPress Version 1.2.2.1 (latest)

WordPress Install is a fresh install

I’m on a linux VPS with HostGator.

I have no plugins installed, other than BuddyPress

I’m using BuddyPress Default 1.2.2.1 theme.

As far as I can tell, all links are working, except 2.

One is http://www.gjzone.com/forums –> returns a 404 and there is nothing in the logs that indicates a problem

Two, if I create a group, and place a check in the box for including in forum discussion, I get a 404

I don’t see anything in the logs (which seem to be limited in scope anyhow)

My htaccess is 644, and seems to have standard WP stuff

the bp-config.php file gets written and looks ok (no garbled input, etc)

    I have forums enabled

    I’ve deactived/re-activated buddypress plugin

    I’ve disabled/enabled forums

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly what i’m searching for! Thanks for making it.

I’ve installed the plugins but when I click ‘Forum Extra’ link in dashboard, the plugins admin page doesn’t show up.

    any suggestion?

i’m running WP single user with latest buddypress.

A suggestion for AJAXed quote, perhaps add a link to the post that’s mentioned for the “said” text.

nice, i’ll add that in there

Also couldn’t BBcode be enabled across all components and not just the forums? I had a similar port of _ck_’s BBcode plugin doing this.

If you use internal only bbpress – then just install Viper’s Shortcode BBCode and it works in buddypress activity updates (some reason buddypress does not include the shortcode filter on forum content – but that subplugin will enable it)

if external, then just hook this filter on whatever _before_save stuff bp_forum_extras_bbcode_it (but i can add a small option to do this).

Love it was adding the tinymce to forums today

i have markitup working on an external bbpress but i noticed someone already wrote a markitup wordpress plugin – i was going to see what it takes to extend that into BP

I’ve only tried the AJAXed quote so far, but it works as advertised.

In reply to: BP Album vs BP Gallery

    @mercime

I say kudos to the developers of both plugins. And, to each according to online community’s requirements and site developer’s preferences as well.

    @gregfielding

I prefer BP Gallery plugin even in its RC1 version and I am using it in private membership site. As for people “shunning” a free outstanding plugin, I really doubt it. Right now, users can upload to group and individual albums and I’m waiting for the BP Gallery shortcode for user’s and group blogs, plus ability to upload albums in blog posts to appear in BP activity stream and sitewide gallery directory.

    @foxly

Get off your high horse. I find it weird that you would be dissing the BP Gallery plugin which has not been released as stable yet and which the developer has mentioned will be released as free after it’s been tested by paid members and cleaned up further by Brajesh. You are insulting both Brajesh and those who chose to support Brajesh in the development of BP Gallery just for your own self-serving promotion.

What’s weirder is that you’re getting all huffed up about the delay of BP Gallery releases when I among others who shelled out at least $30 to aid in development do understand the causes for the delays and are not vitriolic like you have been in this forum.

If you’re raising hell about BP Gallery to generate attention because you’re getting involved in BP Album and want to promote it, then you’re going about it the long way. As it is, shooting from the mouth in this forum just gives an impression of a totally unprofessional developer. Free speech and all that, your comments above leave something to be desired as you don’t even have the facts correct as Bowe mentioned above.

As for Brajesh releasing it free to the community after stable version is out – I’m all for it.

Do not presume to ascribe to all members what your negative preferences would have been.

@Brajesh – way to go man.

@Modemlooper – you’re on WP 2.9.2 and not WPMU 2.9.2 right? You have GD library enabled?

I also am having strange happenings using WP-O_Matic.

The campaigns show up in my forums. I use bbpress intergration for forums.

Still waiting for a solution to this also, as I prefer WP-OMatic over Feedwordpress.

    nickmy,

Theme development is fairly involved, in order to get the most out of these forums, you should make your question as specific as possible.

If you wan’t to customize a theme, but don’t know any PHP, you’ll probably need to hire a developer.

Rossagrant, I wrote a plugin for a client to make a default forum topic when a new group is created. I’ve been thinking about putting it in the repository, but in the meantime, you can download it from my personal site:

    http://www.code-zen.net/2010/buddypress-default-forum-topic/

Note, you need to open up the PHP file and modify the title and text to what you’d like to use.

Please note, this will likely not work with the SQL script you’re using, it depends on a trigger event that is fired when the group is created with BP.

Edit: this was in response to default topics, three posts up :-)

These are all great replies and clear up the point of having all these different publishing methods available. Thank you stwc, Peterverkooijen and 3sixty.
