ModeratorYou should ask the plugin author. Post your question on the support forum for BuddyPress Cover Photo.
If you are using BP v. 2.4 or greater, you don’t need that plugin – profile cover photos are part of BP.

ParticipantI have to break this up into separate posts because I don’t think the BP forum wants me to include so many links:
If you want to replace the activity post with recipes instead (eliminating the default ‘activity’) you could change the label of activity to “recipes” using this guide from the codex:
Change “Activity” component’s name and slug to something else.

KeymasterVisit a forum, like https://buddypress.org/support/forum/how-to/ and scroll to the bottom of the topic list. The new topic form should be down there.

ModeratorForum topics are a bbPress thing. If you have questions related to those, bbPress is the best place:

ParticipantIt’s been awhile…I don’t really recall. I’m going to just scrap the forum software I was using that had BuddyPress integration in favor of Vanilla Forums.
For what it’s worth I think the fix was I had to have my memberships page be name exactly that.
IE: mydomain.com/buddypress-members (not /members )
Something like that anyways…Good luck!

ParticipantHey @sharmavishal
“forum.php of your theme file in child theme which u are using and remove
<?php post_form(); ?>
also edit, in both forum.php and front-page.php
<th><?php _e(‘Topic’); ?> — <?php bb_new_topic_link(); ?></th>
to become
<th><?php _e(‘Topic’); ?></th>”
it is not forums though

ParticipantSounds like you’re using a theme that’s stopping this or when you publish a post you have it set to private.
It’s more for WordPress forums given posts are a WordPress feature and not a BuddyPress one.
Look at your theme files, index.php and look for anything that looks like it’s making those posts only accessible to logged in users. Something like
is_user_logged_in().July 24, 2016 at 5:51 pm #256994In reply to: How to stop Topic Creation for Groups

KeymasterWe want to close topic creations. as we want members to only reply back to to TOPICS ALREADY CREATED by us.
This is with Groups and not BBPress Forums
You mention you want to close topic creations, but you are not using bbPress forums. Can you post a screenshot of what you are referring to? Are you talking about the activity post form?
July 24, 2016 at 5:47 pm #256991r-a-y
KeymasterThe login page is not handled by BuddyPress.
Please post your issue on the WordPress support forums:
It’s most likely a plugin conflict somewhere.

ParticipantI am having this issue with BuddyPress 2.6.1.1 & bbPress 2.5.10 plugins installed
I have used the BuddyPress repair tool but it didn’t work?
Running WordPress 4.4.4 and the Sparkling theme
Any ideas as this seems to be a common issue looking back through older topics
Irony is when I forgot my password to this forum it sent an email instantly!!!
Thanks in advance

ParticipantThat’s related to Yoast seo plugin. Would be better to ask on their forum as it is Yoast who removes a WP/BP part.

Participanti think u just need to add a code to wp-config.php or bp-custom.php…its mentioned somewhere in codex or forums

danbp
ParticipantSpam is an endless discussion on the web over years. Search this forum, you’ll find many topics.
Half of my users registrations are reported by buddypress like a spam.
The question is why ? Aside, note that it is WP who controls the registration, not BuddyPress.Do you use Askimet or some other plugin who controls your registry ?
So I think it’s sufficient? no?
Simply ? NO !
Captchas are helping to determine a human activity, but generally don’t spam users.
Many spam bots go through captcha and many other goes directly to your db. And many many, if not all, can send emails !
Spammers are even cleverer as most door keepers, it’s a sad fact and a great part of that “sport” to prove it continuously. Here some common tasks explained to avoid spam and other unwanted content on your site. Note that one of the first thing to do is to use another table prefix as the universal knowed

ParticipantThere is nothing to do ! Private groups are even private. If user 1 is only member of group A and NOT of group B, user 1 can only act with group A forum.
Aside, question related to bbPress should be asked on bbPress forum, not on BuddyPress forum.

Participant@sharmavishal thanks for the response. I was just trying to describe the kind of site i.e. Private niche social network to give an idea of the kind of features that might be indicated. And the speed thing was my motivation to ask the question. Currently have media uploads chat room and other community oriented features using plugins. I feel like I have too many plugins and want to minimize by replacing any plugins that I can with code.
For instance I recently as able to replace a login redirect and auto join to group plugins with code. Currently working to get my BBP forums styled the way I’d like without using BBP style pack.
So as I am getting deeper into th custom code snippets and flexibility of BP in that regard I was seeking guidance on the best practices for where I could get the most most benefit from using plugin and where best to use code. What I don’t want to do is invest time tracking down and implementing code when it is better to just use a plugin.
Thanks again for the response and any insightsJuly 17, 2016 at 8:40 pm #256719In reply to: /forums/forum/forum/

ParticipantAnother thing:
I usedbpfr_filtering_activity( $retval ){ $retval1['action'] ='activity_update';and filtered my activity for only updates. But then I noticed if someone mentions me in a forum, I will receive a notification of course but I cannot see that mention in ‘activity-mentions’.
I tried to add another filter, to also include mentions coming from forums and not only from updates, but I could not succeed. This is why I sent the above question.
So if I can solve this problem instead of the above question, it will be OK.July 16, 2016 at 1:02 pm #256675In reply to: Lost access to my site
