In reply to: BuddyPress General Settings>Select Themes>Missing?
@mercime
Participant@peternicholls – It looks like you created sub-blogs “members” “blogs” and “groups” which you shouldn’t have done. Delete those sub-blogs. Let BuddyPress automattically generate those pages when you click on the links. Just tested the theme and it’s working great on 1.2-rare bp-sn-parent.
If that’s not the case, it would help us help you if you answer these questions – https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/when-asking-for-support

January 19, 2010 at 4:13 pm #61121In reply to: Multiple user types – possible?
Bowe
ParticipantI don’t have a solution for all your problems but assigning different “user” types to your site is easy:
– Create a xprofile field in your BuddyPress admin. For example: What kind of user are you:
a. Swimmer
b. Skater
c. Surfer
– Install the BP Member filter plugin: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/bp-member-filter
– Users can now filter members on the member directory page to find certain usertypes
The only thing you might want to look into is to show/hide specific xprofile fields for different groups. That’s more advanced and requires some new code to be written by someone

Good luck!
edit: Maybe if you combine both tips from Boris and me you just got your solution

ps: I’m interested in the jquery profile fields stuff as well.. sounds handy!

nig3d
ParticipantI meant: I don’t know if it’s a known bug or a new bug that I should report
and I’ll try to rephrase. In practice the recent discussion panel (and not recent activities panel) doesn’t show the posts set as sticky even if they are just posted.

Participantcool, that something I didn’t know, but still, I can’t understand what the reason is. Why is the standalone version somehow different than separate one, since even the php files look the same?
Same question, why can’t I access to the admin panel?
Just to know if there is a specific reason.
And just to be sure, once I install the external version, and I integrate it in buddypress, will buddypress show the bbpress plugin including the support forum one? Because I don’t have any intention to let the users access to the general forum anyway, it must work like it works with buddypress, that is accessing only through the groups.

ParticipantHmmm – yes, this plugin sounds logic
(and would be the forum-titel…
. That is exactly the question, for I am not a php-guru. Can anyone point me in the right direction, who that would work with buddypress (example: how could I show a widget with that plugin just on a users profile…?)

ParticipantI get “The page you were looking for was not found.” when trying to delete activity. I get a confirmation “Are you sure” but when I click OK, I get that standard bp missing page message.
Any guidance appreciated.
So…yeah…anyone?

D Cartwright
ParticipantHi everyone.
Just thought I’d give people a heads-up (in the hope of getting some testers) and let you know that we should hopefully have a demo site for people to play with by Friday this week. I then hope to have a beta version of the plugin available to some people on here a week or two after that.
I’ve posted a rather rambling update in reply to David Lewis here:
https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/message-all-group-members
There’s a few images of how the site is working at the moment and some details on the state of development.

Participantthanks for the answer!
I use the internal one, do I need then to install an external one to use the plugin?
Even though, I use the forum only through the buddypress groups, will be the support forum visualization enabled under buddypress group forums?
Thank you very much.

ParticipantI managed to figure it out. It’s a shame it doesn’t work as a classic forum where the administrator control the overall forum structure, however I can see, and appreciate, the use case which it serves.

Did you already recognize the other thread Activity Stream bug?

KeymasterThe red light / green light thing you see here is a bbPress plugin called Support Forum:
https://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/support-forum/
If you’re using an external bbPress install, check out that plugin.

Will probably not work off the bat in BP 1.1+ without some modification.

ParticipantPlease remember this is free and all of us are volunteers.
Also, the question asked by the OP does not have a simple answer, and in fact, is not BP-specific, but better asked in the MU forums.

ParticipantI’ve worked on another Ajax problem here. The delete buttons is probably something similar. I’ll have to go through the code in _inc/js/ajax.js when I have time again – assuming the delete button code is there as well.

ParticipantI need a solution that works now. So I guess the only option will be to encourage people to use the forums instead of updates and pair that with one of the two plugins I mentioned above.
January 18, 2010 at 11:33 am #61018grosbouff
ParticipantOk. Since I see that this is not getting your enthusiasm, ….

Il try too keep doing the job.
I worked 2 more days on this; trying to
-keep coding/debugging it
-adapt it for BP 1.2 directly
I’ll tell you about it in the following weeks into this topic :

Participantnice support on this forum … no replies after a month?

ParticipantAfter painstakingly removing all the table, tr and td from ajax.js the form now works without tables, giving me a lot more freedom to restyle it.
I’ve also replaced this
checkboxes = j("#message-threads tr td input[type='checkbox']");With this
checkboxes = j("#inboxcheck");and added id=”inboxcheck” to the input tag in index.php.
It works fine. It actually seems faster.
I guess the broken delete buttons in 1.1.3 had the same cause. I’ll revisit that next week…

ParticipantYou can prevent confusion if you generate the username (@peterverkooijen) from the real name (Peter Verkooijen), so I could probably live with this solution – haven’t tested it yet…

ParticipantI realized that after every POST from the forum, the browser receives a 404.
