ParticipantI’m using wpmu 2.8.4a with the latest trunk (r1757) on my local machine.
When i’m trying to activate the forum on some group i get the following error message:
Warning: require_once(/home/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/bb-includes/class.bb-query.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/public_html/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-bbpress.php on line 25
However Forums Setup on the dahsboar says:
bbPress forum integration in BuddyPress has been set up correctly. If you are having problems you can re-install
I tried to re-install, but still get the same error. Any suggestions? Is this normal with the latest trunk?

ParticipantThere is a bug in the deep integration script
if ( !defined( ‘ABSPATH’ ) & !defined( ‘XMLRPC_REQUEST’ )) {
define( ‘WP_USE_THEMES’, false );
include_once( ‘/your/absolute/path/to/wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’ );
header( “HTTP/1.1 200 OK†);
header( “Status: 200 All rosy†);
It looks like everything is working fine, but a user from the german buddypress forum ( mt ) find out, that wordpress overwrites the buddypress header and so there comes header 200 back and often it is a 302 or even a 404.
this is the new script from mt.
if ( !defined( ‘ABSPATH’ ) & !defined( ‘XMLRPC_REQUEST’ )) {
define( ‘WP_USE_THEMES’, false );
include_once( ‘/your/absolute/path/to/wordpress/wp-config.php’ );
$wp->init();
$wp->register_globals();
I post it hire because I think it must be interesting for everyone. In fact it is really important for seo and the german forum is far away from hire…

ParticipantNot sure if this would solve your issue:
Autogenerate or remove username
Plugin update first_name, last_name in wp_usermeta on activation
Simplified blog creation – blogname generated from Blog Title
Clean professional user registration?
Solutions are at the bottom. Or follow the links in the posts. I’ve also posted the final code here. It was a long and messy process…

ParticipantAt that point, they are just members of blogs, so yes, they have access to the dashboard with options according to their blog role. Asfaik, P2 is not meant to be the only post option as it meant for quick posting and only text. So it would greatly limit things by having that as the only post option.
For your situation I would not use the groupblog plugin, but stay with either wire or discussion forum. Also, to answer your other question, bp-groupblog does not work wihtout buddypress.

ParticipantEach group can have only one blog attached to it, much like each group has a forum and a wire. Since it is an extension of the group, each member is added to the blog automatically with a predefined role cap. Just like each member can participate in forums.
Each component has a different role and it is up to you which you would like to have enable or disabled. Per definition:
– The wire acts like quick comments for the group, text only.
– Forums allow deeper discussions related to the group and are not as linear as the wire.
– Blogs have even greater functionality as you can have categories and tags, also, you have more post options such as photos and videos. Blogs have all WP plugins available to them, so your options for the group are endless.
Since you can build wp post loops in the group page there is a lot you could do with it. It is up to your imagination. If something would be obsolete, it would be the wire, as forum discussions supersede those.
The group creator has option to enable all, disable all, or any possible configuration. Each component will not show up when disabled as not to create confusion.
I hope that helps and thanks for your interest.

ParticipantWas he ever a BuddyPress.org member? I don’t recall his name. If he was on BP in the past and you know the his username (I assume it would be a pseudonym since I don’t recall his real name), then simply message him directly.
Otherwise, you’ll have more luck inquiring on the WPMU forums.
I’m closing this thread as it has nothing to do with BuddyPress support.

Participantsorry, but another question: what is a “Group-Blog” and how does it work ?
– the Admin creates just ONE Blog for a certain group at which every user can contribute ?
OR
– each User is allowed to create his own “Group-Blog” at which other users can contribute ?
Please explain how this works.
Also, I am curious about:
having a Group-Blog, having a Group-Forum, having the Wire ? Where are the differences ? What are the advantages / disadvantages of each ?
Does it make sense to have all 3 of those ?
Many thanks,
Erich

Participant– can I have a Group-Blog instead of the BBPress-Forum ?
– I would like to disable User-Blogs for each single user, but instead have a Group-Blog using P2-theme. Does this work with your plugin ?
– Is your plugin compatible with BP-version 1.1 ?
– what is the difference from your Group-Blog-plugin compared with the one from Burt ?

KeymasterIf you have bbPress installed, you should double-check to see if your BP group forums work.
Post in bbPress in a BP group forum and see if that post appears in BuddyPress and vice versa.
Also if you used any BP widgets, remove and re-add them since the widgets API in WPMU 2.8 changed.
Lastly, check to see if your 3rd-party BP plugins work (if you have any installed).

Any idea’s?
August 28, 2009 at 7:53 pm #51702In reply to: Autogenerate or remove username
peterverkooijen
ParticipantAlternative solution: Use the following Javascript to generate a username on typing:
function copyinputuser()
{
var tmp = document.getElementById('field_1').value;
tmp = tmp.toLowerCase().replace(/^\s+|\s+$/g, "").replace(/[_|\s]+/g, "");
tmp = tmp.replace(/[^a-z0-9-]+/g, "").replace(/[-]+/g, "").replace(/^-+|-+$/g, "");
document.getElementById('user_name').value = tmp;
}And then add onkeyup=”copyinputuser()” to the field_1 input tag, which requires an ugly hack in a core file.
August 28, 2009 at 7:31 pm #51700In reply to: Edit input tag profile field_1?
peterverkooijen
ParticipantI see the html for the xprofile input fields is in function get_edit_html in bp-xprofile-classes.php:
switch ( $this->type ) {
case 'textbox':
$html .= '<div class="signup-field">';
$html .= '<label class="signup-label" for="field_' . $this->id . '">' . $asterisk . $this->name . ':</label>';
$html .= $this->message . '<input type="text" name="field_' . $this->id . '" id="field_' . $this->id . '" value="' . attribute_escape( $this->data->value ) . '" />';
$html .= '<span class="signup-description">' . $this->desc . '</span>';
$html .= '</div>';
break;So I guess I could add onkeyup=”copyinput()” there, but then all xprofile fields will get that. Would that mess up the system? The Javascript refers to the fields by ID.
According to Jeff Sayre this method will be deprecated in version 1.1, but I need a temporary solution before I make the switch.
Trying that now…

ParticipantIf WPMU + BuddyPress is working fine–that is when you just have BuddyPress installed and activated and no other plugins activated–then this issue is best solved by posting on the WPMU forums.
As a general rule, though, if you suspect that the issue is plugin related, then you should follow the recommended procedure for tracking down misbehaving plugins. You deactivate all plugins and then reactivate plugins one at a time, each time testing out WPMU to see if it is working. If so, you reactivate the next plugin and so on until you find the plugin that seems to be causing the issue.
Also, make sure that you are using the most recent plugin for the version of WPMU you’re running. If a plugin is not yet updated to run in the version of WPMU you’ve installed, then that could be an issue. Contact the plugin developer and ask when they plan to update it.
You also need to check your serve’s log files to see if there are any errors that could help in figuring out the issue. If you don’t know how to do that, your hosting firm can help.
But please search the WPMU forums first and then post there if you cannot find an answer. This sounds like a plugin conflict and has nothing to do with BuddyPress.

ParticipantYour questions are best asked by starting a new thread. I suggest you do so in the “How-To and Troubleshooting” forum.
With step four in your list, were you reinstalling your custom theme or the default bphome and bpmember themes? Did you reselect the proper theme in WPMU’s backend? Also, have you checked your server’s log files to see if there is useful information in pinpointing the issue?
I also suggest that you start a new thread as this thread is for general announcements and general questions about the new theme architecture.

ParticipantThanks Gaetan, I went ahead on bought the one month premium wpmu dev account and grabbed half a dozen plugins for my buddypress site. The mass email plugin worked great. I used it yesterday to announce our September contest.
Yes DJPaul, achievements is great. I wish there was a way to add our own achievements. Something like that would be very helpful.

August 28, 2009 at 12:58 am #51657In reply to: P2 Theme As The Wire/Wall?
John James Jacoby
KeymasterIf anything, the wire would potentially get replaced by a user forum. Otherwise P2 is a blog theme, which would mean replacing the wire with another blog.
I’m in the process of porting the P2 theme into the new BP 1.1 framework, so might be about as close as you’ll get for now.
