    @Mohit Kumar: I know this has to do with cookie integration but I have found that sometimes the buddybar doesn’t work if this code isn’t in your bb-config.php file if you are using WPMU 2.7.1:

    //WordPress MU Cookie Integration
    define( 'WP_AUTH_COOKIE_VERSION', 1 );

    If you could also post you WPMU wp-config.php file without the passwords and usernames it would be helpful as well.

    @Nicholaszen: When I made that upgrade, I ended up having the same problem. I moved all of the plugins from /my-plugins/ to /bb-plugins/ and the themes from /my-themes/ to /bb-themes/. That managed to reset the site enough so that I could access the forum’s admin and from there I could re-activate the theme. Try that and let us know.

    Andy is aware of some missing instances of the translation function. But, if you are noticing areas of BP that seem to be missing the translation function, please first search trac to see if they have been reported. If not, then open a new ticket. It is better to over report than under report.

    Hey John thanks for the reply.

    No Javascript errrors that I can see no :(

    I am indeed using deep integration using with bbPress – version 1.0-alpha-6 as recommended by a great online turorial. The integration worked perfectly until a little while ago (can’t pinpoint this time) but I now have an issue where bbPress knows I am logged in as admin but clicking on the http://www.mysite.com/forums/bb-admin/ link doesn’t work first time, I have to click Log Out and re log in.

    Do you think this is related then?

    I also notice a rogue 0 output at the bottom of the buddypress-groupswidget on my home page once I click on any of the group headings, Newest, Active, Popular :(

    Would it be helpful to post the Post Data from within Firebug?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Just to update: I got the plugin from r-a-y, it works great on bbpress but not on buddypress. It seems meta data for buddypress forums is yet to come

    BP bar not working…!!!

    This is what i did

    I had a full integration – means i had copied all the keys from wp- config to bb-config accordingly.

    I had done all other settings so that a discussion forum made in buddypress is shown in bbpress.

    I uploaded the buddypress bar plugin to the my-plugin directory.

    Added the code into bb-config

    with the absolute path of FILE i.e include_once( ‘/public_html/wp-blog-header.php’ );

    activated the plugin

    nothing happened!!??

    Did i miss any step??

    Is anyone else having cookie problems on the BP site?

    I can only login to one part of the BP site at a time (main BP site vs. forums).

    What other 3rd-party plugins do you have installed and activated?

    There is a growing list of plugins that interfere with the avatar uploading and/or cropping process within BP. See this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/faq-how-to-code-snippets-and-solutions#post-11864

    Some more debuggin for the admin bar in combination with Transposh(and maybe some other WP-plugins that manipulate output in a special way)

    if(!strpos($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'],'forums/rss.php') and !strpos($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'],'admin')) {
    if ( !defined( 'ABSPATH' ) & !defined( 'XMLRPC_REQUEST' )) {
    define( 'WP_USE_THEMES', false );
    //
    // You will need to get the ABSOLUTE path to this file |
    // \|/
    include_once( 'public_html/wp-blog-header.php' );
    header( "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" );
    header( "Status: 200 All rosy" );
    }
    }

    To clarify, this is something we’re going to be using for paying clients, not the public at large, so that should take some of the issues raised above out of the equation.

    If anything, that alone would make me want to stay away from OpenID.

    Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great for newspaper sites etc where someone can log in to comment. But if I’m paying you money, I want YOU to be responsible for any data I send you, and only you.

    Also, this is going to enable us to take away the 4 separate passwords / logins our paying customers need to use currently down to 2 for things like the forums, their website, billing, support, etc…. that is the main reason we’re implementing this…. otherwise we wouldn’t waste our time building something unless it was totally necessary….

    Sensible and laudable. How come you can’t have one for all four and self-host it? (Honestly curious here!)

    Also, if I’m logged into facebook on my computer, and close facebook

    You tech genius wouldn’t do that, right? :)

    I do this all the time. 99.99999% of the time, no one but me uses my computer. Once in a while, a guest comes over and looks something up, but it’s rare. But yeah, this is something most of us do. I never log out of sites when I’m using my computer, logged in as my user name. :)

    I don’t see how Buddypress is using this field. When I change it to a different url in the backend, Buddypress member links still take me to their profile. Or, is it used in some other way?

    If you click on your name here in the forums, you get taken to your BuddyPress profile page, instead of your personal website. That feature is by design and that’s what I mean when I say BuddyPress sets your account’s website as your BuddyPress profile.

    That’s not the same as my ‘home’, but I suppose you could muck about with the BuddyPress files to change the default website to be something else. I’m not sure how that would work, as all it would do would be to take you to my blog when you click on my name, vs my profile. Is that what you want?

    You could probably get away with a single install of bbPress, but you would need a plugin or some theme work.

    After installing and integrating bbPress with WordPress MU, I installed BuddyPress and got the group forums working. I created a group and saw that the forum created for that group was a child of the forum that had been created during the install of bbPress. I changed that forum to be a category, so that no topics could be posted in it.

    It is entirely possible that you could filter out content that belongs to that category for the main forums. So when using BuddyPress groups, you can see group forums, but when viewing the bbPress forums, the BuddyPress forums are filtered out.

    I am also using the hidden and read-only plugins with the BuddyPress Groups for bbPress plugin, and that is working well. However, you could suppress the content rather than marking it up.

    bb-config.php is the config file for BBPress. If you haven’t installed BBPress, you won’t have a bb-config.php.

    All I did was hunt down the filters and functions that used to be in bp to support the helper plugin. Let me know if I missed any spot. I tested activity and the group forums templates.

    Did you move the bpmember and bpskeletonmember directories from “wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes” to “wp-content/bp-themes“?

    Also if you are using WPMU 2.8.1, there are bugs that are currently being ironed out by the BP dev team. So if you are using WPMU 2.8.1, you’ll have to find one of the workarounds on the forums.

    Ok, this is working for me too. I see that updating the BP “Name” field also results in an update to the “display_name” field in the wp_users table.

    FWIW, I’m not using deep integration.

    Thanks r-a-y.

    BTW, I have some questions regarding the perf impact of deep integration, but I will start a new thread for that.

    My hack above should also go into a bp-custom.php (or similar), but I’d use Burt’s code snippet instead.
