ParticipantErich73-
I’m sure it could be worked to get it to play well with BuddyPress!
At the bare minimum, there are some important changes/additions to certain theme files and folders that would need to be made as detailed here in the section entitled “Upgrading the Theme files”.

ParticipantThanks for the post, Kusal!
I’m not sure if this was an issue when you posted it 8 hours ago, but I can see a BP favicon on the home, forum, and all member pages.

You can customize the home theme to accomplish that goal. To make sure that no one can enter the community until they’ve registered and logged in, you could try implementing some of these suggestions.

The community pages would be your customized member theme.

Participantvery interesting thread. i just started something similar here. https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2434
i totally thought the blogs were integrated into the home theme. i had no idea they weren’t. i was going to launch my site this weekend, now it’s looking pretty bad. i would have to hack a theme together, which stinks. i was really excited about the all in one integrated themes, especially at upgrade time. get the new features and no hacks on my theme!
i do like the look of that JPG, but wouldn’t care if it was identical. i would just love the integration of blogs into the home theme. any help or info I can provide to the community, I will post here. please do the same with regular updates.
this is a show stopper for me.

ParticipantGroup Discussion Board:
I would like to see the possibility to be able to reply directly to a forum-post, so that:
1)
everybody understand to which forum-post my post refers to.
2)
the person I am replying to will receive an e-mail which notifies him that I have posted a feedback to his entry
like threaded Forum and threaded Comment-system ( http://www.toni.org ).
Currently, it is very hard to find my own forum-posts and replies to my post within BuddyPress. You agree ?
Many thanks,
Erich

It appears that both of you are using WordPress single user version. BuddyPress must be used with WordPress Multi-User version (WPMU).
You can download it here: https://mu.wordpress.org/download/
Start over from scratch. First, delete all the files (except any custom themes you may have created or downloaded). Create a new MySQL database. Them go though the install process again:
- Install WPMU — the multi-user version! Follow these instructions
- Next, install BuddyPress following these instructions

KeymasterThere is a sticky post in this forum about this.

Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterThreaded comments were introduced in wordpress 2.7 and is an option in the admin settings. A theme has to have been written to support that version of wordpress due to changes in how themes were done.

ParticipantI’m not logged in at the test site so there should be a FB button. There was when BP RC2 was there but now I assume they have upgraded to v1.0 on the test site and just chose not to add it this time.
I have a ton of FB users on my forum so this is a “must have” for me and not seeing it there makes me worry that perhaps they removed it because it’s not compatible with BP v1.0 or something.

ParticipantAnd for all you theme designers out there, remember that Andy recently updated the BuddyPress Skeleton Theme to version 1.0 standards. It is bundled into the 1.0 download package. But, if you need a new copy, you can get it here:

He doesn’t have a threaded forum, it’s a threaded comment system. Better yet, it’s available to you if you use the P2 theme!

ParticipantSo I posted the same support topic over at wpmudev.org and they advised me to ask you about this issue, whereby Andrew stated:
“Sounds like they’ve figured out how to bypass a step or two in the signup routine.
Probably best to mention this on the buddypress forums so they can look into it.
Thanks,
Andrew”
Does this help?

ParticipantForum topics are only created through BuddyPress and not directly in bbPress so they should show up. They show fine in the actual groups but not on sitewide activity. I am going to go check the error logs now.

Participant“New topic posts do not show up in the site wide activity widget.” is this related to posts created in bbPress? Not through bp’s group forums right? That’s normal. bp only records activity created through bp.
Not sure what is going on with your wire posts. Do you have any errors in your apache/php error logs?

ParticipantYou may want to post this question on the wpmu forum.
April 29, 2009 at 8:25 pm #43848Jeff Sayre
ParticipantYou probably did not get any response concerning this issue since it is a WPMU plugin-specific problem and not BuddyPress.
If you have specific questions about a given WPMU plugin, the best place to ask them is usually on the WPMU forum. In fact, the creator of the WP Super Cache plugin, Donncha, will be more likley to see your question there than here!
Jeff Sayre
ParticipantIsuru-
Welcome to BuddyPress! I’m sorry it has taken this long to answer your question.
First let me answer this question:
do i need to edit the bp-core component and bp-xprofile too?
You should not edit any of the core BuddyPress components as your changes will be lost the next time you update BP. Instead, you can either take advantage of the bp-custom.php file (detailed here), or create your own custom component.
can someone expalin me the use of bp-xprofile component.
Here’s some information on BuddyPress’ profile features that may help answer this question.
also, i want to create my own component
There is a specially-created tool for this called the BuddyPress Skeleton Component for plugin developers. Using this series of files, you can create your own custom BP component. There is a download link on that page.

ParticipantAh, thanks Andy – I forgot to activate buddyPress-enable, and I didn’t have the very latest version of PHP.
Installing bbPress is, by far, the trickiest part of assembling a BuddyPress site.
