In reply to: How Mediapress works: guide.

ParticipantVery kind of you. Without forum’s help and people like you I had given up time ago, but I’ve learnt a lot and still have much to learn ๐ ๐
Before the gallery and the mediapress page had 2 different names, now I’ve named them the same.
To find out the gallery Id, I pass over the gallery name and at the bottom of the page I see the long url with the ( post= 72 ). Guess this is the Id.
So my shortcode should be [mpp-show-gallery id=72]
I read that the shortcodes usually go to config.php but I’m not sure about that. I tried to follow the procedure you wrote above adding the shortcode into the content space of the gallery page I created… but seems that doesn’t work. I’m wroning something for sure.
If possible, I want to show where I’m testing it: this is the url:
The galley page I created is called: album and as you see clicking on the page, it open up the page with a gallery preview box, also called album, instead of showing up the gallery already opened or sitewide as is called.
Is it possible I’m wroning where to add the shortcode?
Thanks a lot for everything.

ParticipantThanks I read the links but am still somewhat confused….I am going to have to dig…I am use to it as I have done ALOT of digging while learning both wordpress and buddypress…I am a little confused on what that link is explaining…I guess what I was trying to get at that if I am going to show up I would at least like it to label me as admin and where do I set up to be able to moderate things on the site…especially the forum but on buddypress as well…I want to be able to moderate for any abuse, language, etc but first and foremost I want to see myself labeled on there as the administrator…Rhonda

ParticipantFound the code below on these forums works perfectly.
function my_cache_avatar_url() { update_user_meta( bp_displayed_user_id(), 'modemloopers_awesome_avatar_url', bp_core_fetch_avatar( 'html=false&item_id=' . bp_displayed_user_id() ) ); } add_action( 'xprofile_screen_change_avatar', 'my_cache_avatar_url' );I’ve tried to make it work for an xprofile field by doing the code below with no such luck. Any ideas?
function my_cache_xprofile_website() { update_user_meta( bp_displayed_user_id(), 'modemloopers_awesome_website_url', bp_profile_field_data('field=Website&item_id=' . bp_displayed_user_id() ) ); } add_action( 'xprofile_updated_profile ', 'my_cache_xprofile_website' );October 17, 2015 at 2:50 am #245592In reply to: “Favorite” counter/ count

ParticipantJust an update on this thread.
At the moment, there aren’t any plugins for this. The BuddyPress Like plugin is broken (it breaks WordPress themes on install and isn’t being supported). I tried others as well. The BuddyPress Compliments seems like a great plugin, but only allows users to compliment other members (not compliment posts). It’s interface and options, useability is great though.
It does what many people are requesting (on WordPress as well as this forum): lets people add “likes” to posts AND lets people customize the button that does the “liking” (I mean you can name the object and set an image for it).
Is there any plans within BuddyPress to add a “like” function (which tallys the likes on posts)? (If so, Compliments is a great model.)

ModeratorThis sounds like a question for the developers of your events plugin, which plugin do you use? There will probably be a forum on WordPress.org for it.

Participanthopefully Iโm not asking too many questionsโฆ You do, but with a guitar, so i don’t be too afraid (i have 3 near me)
If you use rtmedia, there is no reason to use mediapress as both do more or less, the same thing. And vice versa.
I don’t use rtmedia so i don’t know how it works and display content in BP.
What is the tab with bio, info ? Do you mean the original WP profile page ? Are you speaking about the admin profile page ?Embeding a wp content is not very difficult. Search the forum for embed post on profile. I answered one of this question a few days back with a complete solution.

recommended method for this is to use the language file.
If you search the forum, you will find many topics about this subject.

ParticipantThat edit to the php worked–thanks!
I guess the best thing for me to do is to use content-aware sidebars, or some such plugin, to prominently notify users of all forum activity. It’s unfortunately, since forum activity is the single most important form of activity on my site, but it’ll be better than nothing…

ParticipantHum… copy/pasting is not very complicated. Another way would be to use MediaPress, which works great on profiles. Or even custom post type, but this would be longer to get it to work within profiles. Depends of your php knowledge.
Also, custom work like this is over the scope of this forum.
I give you a BuddyPress way to do that. Now it’s your turn to decide and to do. ๐October 13, 2015 at 3:36 pm #245419In reply to: Commenting Turned Off

ModeratorIf you are referring to Forum threads, that is handled by bbPress which has its own support site.

Moderatorbbpress is the forum component of WordPress, it can integrate in Buddypress Groups to provide them with forums but will also work standalone.

KeymasterI am looking into how promptly we may be closing old discussion threads (if we leave them open, someone replies to them months or years later, normally with a “did anyone ever find a solution” etc”, and the discussion’s out of date). I can’t see any threads that you’ve started recently that have been closed, so I’m assuming you meant generally.
Also, we appreciate your feedback. This isn’t the first time you’ve complained about some of the design/theming aspects of BuddyPress, but unfortunately threads like this don’t help us make the software better. You’re more likely to get a better response if you share unconstructive comments like these on your own site/blog rather than these support forums (if you do, be sure to link us here to it so we can go read it). Thanks.

ParticipantBest request so far on this forum and surprised you reopened this thread. Buddypress, bbPress, and WordPress are so easily close the threads before anything is even discussed and easily just assumes its better to go to a theme author to implement it when it not the theme author that works on this plugin at all. Theme Authors are 3rd party. So it is better for this plugin to do the styling.
