ParticipantI am also suffering from this issue.
@modemlooper it was posted in support forum / github of almost all Like and similar plugins long long ago by many users. No response.Buddypress core via trac was also requested / issue submitted to make the “Favorit” logical like comments – if you can comment both ways, favorit should also be like that. Isn’t it ? But this has been indefinitely postponed.
Jetpack Like team was requested because they have the “power and punch” – but there also nothing happened.
True – only Buddypics does Favoriting both ways.

ParticipantAnd it seems, the two shall never meet ……
BTW @statusselect, have you been able to use https://www.corephp.com/joomla-products/wordpress-for-joomla with Easysocial with Likes/Favs comment sync between the two – stream to blog, blog to stream
The two things lacking in BP after I saw Easysocial in some details is the
– Sharebox – it comes with nice at mention and hashtag ( hashtag plugin in BP is not Unicode compliant)
– Album and photo – nicely built into core – something not in BP’s agenda with their own reasoning. The Sharebox which Easysocial uses can be instantly done in BP by someone who has some coding skills and BP love using the plugins avaialble – buddypress activity plus, buddypress privacy, bp checkins, Event Manager and a Media plugin. But then ….
Easysocial theme is responsive in a fantastic way and similar BP theme like the Boss of Buddyboss costs $100+ while Easysocial, without the bbundle is $90 – so this may be another attractive point for those who need Social more than multiuser blogging. Easysocial is lesser known till now and probably they do not have a favorable stance towards WP.
And the two shall never meet ….
People shall choose whatever they want, and BP devs and debvelopment will follow the path that suits them best. One thing is true, if BP was something like Jetpack, things would have evolved faster, imhoThanks.

ParticipantSo far, I only have Jetpack, Akismet and Wangguard running. I tried disabling them and still got the 406.
I saw the inmotionhosting post, thanks; and I have a support request in.
Have not tried debug true yet …
Disabling mod_sec actually did not solve the problem. :-/

ParticipantFound it, Jetpack and specifically the photon module within jetpack was causing a dynamic resize of the generated thumbnails that failed.
Thanks for your consideration, I hope this helps someone else down the line.
Same solution as given here: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/avatar-cropping-errors/

Jetpack Only For Admins
Remove Dashboard AccessI even deactivated most of these to strip it down even more and created a new account. Still having the issue.

I will try the patch! (Tomorrow!)
Thanks!

ParticipantOn second thoughts, it seems impossible unless years and years pass by. It seems P2, Jetpack, BP etc, though under the umbrella of WP, does not care about one another or any integration. They have their own development paths and own egos and issues. It seems like Microsoft of the 2000s
P2 already has a status box or text area input box that can be used to post status, blog ( great!!) as well as media that picks up media from the core media library – but BP seems to have never integrated this. Jetpack has nice “Like” feature – but they said it cannot be integrated with BP. I wrote to Matt but he never responded. Sigh!

ParticipantI tried to switch to another theme and saw messed Main Manu, without Register page. When I switched back to Anchor theme, Widgets broke down so I had to set it again. Theme author told me that they intergrated a lot of plug-ins in order to provide users more options and that sometimes Jetpack can cause problems.
Anyway answer was: ” BuddyPress isn’t part of our theme neither our AIT plugins. That’s why I cannot support this issue. For compatibility with third party plugins please contact their support”.
What can be an issue? Please help me.

Participant@ubernaut @henrywright http://jetpack.me/2013/06/10/moving-sharing-icons has some instructions. Do you know in which of the buddypress files we need to put these to show “Likes” button in the river?
January 14, 2015 at 1:44 am #231925ronia
Participantbut the tab to see all of their Likes is only available to them for privacy reasons.
In BP-buddyboss river, everyone can see what I have liked – so it is not private. Default BP does allow to see other users’ Favorits in the Favorit tab in Profile page – why does Buddyboss kills this? At least site admin should be able to turn it on or off.
Wall does not have every FB feature,
buddypress-activity-plus allows to post link, video etc quite nicely and is thus more user-friendly than the premium Wall plugin, imho. There is also a plugin by Brajesh that allow front-end blog posting via BP
Buddyboss is never meant to load every plugin but if a chosen few are bundled, it will be really good rather than re-inventing wheels at premium plugins, features of which are already available in the WP-BP repo. If users like us see thay they are well integrated into the Buddyboss look and feel there can be more sales of the Buddyboss theme actually.
We may make a spam solution at some point in time. This is a tricky one. Every solution you make only works for a bit, then the spammers figure out your tactic and update
Let wp com users at least post to pre-sales and/or free discussion forum. You can do this via jetpack

ModeratorEven though Jetpack and BuddyPress and both projects under the WordPress ‘umbrella’, they are separate plugins and haven’t been designed to work in that way. That said, both should always be compatible. For example, if you find something stops working as a result of the plugins being installed together and conflicting then you could file a bug report.

Participantas i said before jetpack likes are really more like Facebook likes, you can’t Facebook like something if you aren’t on Facebook any more than you can jetpack like something if you aren’t on wordpress.com the whole idea of jetpack is to give your self hosted blog/site many of the capabilities of a wordpress.com hosted blog/site, so from that perspective how it works is pretty sensible even if most people have no idea about wordpress.com

ParticipantAs far as I know, Jetpack Likes apply to blog posts only and are completely unrelated to BuddyPress favorites. If you ‘like’ something via Jetpack, then that’s separate to any ‘favoriting’ that you do via BuddyPress.
@henrywright – that is the entire problem. End users want to like/fav/star an item from the stream or in the content itself. They are accustomed in this way. If BP has its own favoriting (though it does not allow to favorit in the blog post itself) it is not an integrated experience for the user. My plugin idea will be ( I am not programmer) to duplicate the comments module, as comments can be now made from everywhere to anywhere – then instead of text entry just allow to click a button and as in comments here also a list of clickers (commentors) would appear as a list of Likers which can be shown in an overlay box.January 6, 2015 at 12:41 pm #231552In reply to: How to "Like" ?

ParticipantOverall it seems Like is not used or not used properly by BP users. Maybe Jetpack Like is used by many individual blogs.
What is expected usage :
1) I am speaking of an uniform Like button under a blog post or a photo or any content. I should be able to Like it there. I should be also able to like it from an entry in the activity stream if I so wish. This is how usually Like is handled in almost all social scripts as well as real world social nets.
2) On hovering or clicking a Like button or a “Liked” link I should be able to see in a scrollable way the names/avtaars of Likers and the total number of Likes
3) A tab or link in my Profile should show content names / thumbnails of what I liked.
4) The plugin should disable BP core favorites
———-When tested with WP4.1, latest BP and Media plugins like rtmedia, the results are:
- buddypress-like does (4) above , not others
- love-it.1.0.4 does not work
- wp-ulike is not a Network plug in at all, its suitable for individual blogs but as a super admin of WP mutlsite you cannot set its features like you can set features of BP – see issues posted by ronia – this and this. While it is nice for Blogs Like buttons do not appear below Media files or Media posts created by Media plugins

ParticipantI found a few in the WP repo that may do what you are asking..
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-ulike/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/voter-plugin/
wordpress.org/plugins/likebtn-like-button/I have not tried any of these, so I’d love to hear from you if you try any and they work for what you are wanting to achieve. I also have not looked to see if any of these have privacy issues (loading images / data from third party sites like jetpack)
They say they work with posts, pages and BP activity stuff, and show some shortcodes to add most liked this and that, I assume to places in your theme..
I hope one of those, or similar will do that trick for you. I may decide to play with that like thing again myself in the near future.

ModeratorHi @disha76
I have installed Jetpack Like. But when a blog post is Liked / favorited it does not show in my BP Favorit list.
As far as I know, Jetpack Likes apply to blog posts only and are completely unrelated to BuddyPress favorites. If you ‘like’ something via Jetpack, then that’s separate to any ‘favoriting’ that you do via BuddyPress.
Another problem with Jetpack Like is it asks my blog visitors or members to register at wordpress.com compulsarily. Am I missing something?
I’m not aware of the specifics of Jetpack Likes, but you could try taking a look on their support page. I do believe they have an option to contact someone in their support team:

Participant@ubernaut Thanks. I am not a coder yet 🙁
No theme or plugin puts a Like/Favorit button below blog posts in blog pages. Some may do but they do not work at all with WP 4.1, and latest BP.Jetpack does it but do not recognize BP – Jetpack has no BP-Jetpack bridge that does this??

Participantjetpack likes are totally separate from buddypress more like a Facebook like. in regards to the buddypress favoriting you would need to code that in your page template i believe or use a theme which does that already.

ParticipantHello @boki88! Unfortunately it sounds like theme you are using does not have the ability to change those BuddyPress styles without some custom coding. Fortunately, it looks like you have Jetpack enabled and Jetpack has a CSS editor where you can enter custom styles without having to edit code in the theme files.
Go to the edit css page (http://anibusters.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=editcss) and enter the following style:

Participanthi @nickfisher,
It worked well for the first few weeks of use but since this morning it hasn’t been.
That’s because the breakfast coffee was too cold. 😉 What have you done before “this morning” ?
I suggest to review your install, as at the moment, nore the Members or the Groups button are working.
Their URL is correct: http://community.yourfreedomtrain.com/groups/, but loose the directory on click. Do you use a redirection plugin or script ?Deactivate all plugins (jetpack, etc) while testing BP/WP. The couple should work properly before adding other tools.
You’re using a subdomain for BP. This can, so far i remember, only be done if WorPress is multisite configured. Is that the case ?
If yes, have you followed those install instruction ?
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/
Has the htaccess file the correct requests for such a configuration ?Otherwhise, prefer a standard install and use a directory for BP instead.
yourfreedomtrain.com/community/Check that all of your active BP components have their own page.
Enable pretty permalinks.
