If you use a custom theme test your config with bp-default and all plugins deactivated and begin to debug…
If you use bp-default, deactivate all plugins and begin to debug…

The issue was fixed in BP 1.6 https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4362 Could you check your wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-classes.php to check if your BP was upgraded properly?

@scoobydoobydoo I’ve seen this issue before with old BP version and another one with a theme which has not been updated for some time. What are your WP/BP versions? Are you using BP Default theme?

The WP standard fields are not used, this is default usage with BP activated.
But you can create your own custom fields on the profile.

if you drag a field onto another field group tab you can move fields to other sections.

If you hover over field box the pointer is a cross you can drag the whole field to rearrange

You just drag that field box up over or down under the other fields in wp-admin Users > Profile Fields

The “base” group is by definition the default group displayed if you want a different group to be displayed on the registration as opposed to users profiles by default i would suggest you will end up with a lot of “blank” profiles. by putting that base group on the registration page you can encourage/enforce people to actually fill out the fields. by putting them on a secondary (or tertiary) field group you are presenting hurdles that your users must clear in order to fill out their profiles.

profile fields are attached to member profiles has nothing to do with groups.

I am not sure that something is out there to do that but it does sound like a nice idea and I can see it being useful. Off the top of my head you could do something possibly using profile fields. Maybe in a similar way to tagging. There probably are a number of ways to achieve this though.

in this solution , is there any possibility to do dependent drop down,

i need to store user meta data to created fields by x profile.

like: xprofile field: field_1
my custom file: replaces default x profile field_1 to custom field_1 and value must be stored in xprofile metadata

you can define the label for a check box, menu or radio select to any ranges you choose. if you don’t understand you might want to read up a bit on form fields in html. there really isn’t limit to what can be set up with what already exists as options for those fields.
