ParticipantI found it!! I didn’t expect it to be so hidden away: you have to log in as the user, go to the profile tab, click edit, then hidden between the page title “Editing ‘Base’ Profile Group” and the fields for the base group is a button for the additional group. Click on that and the new fields appear. Phew!

ParticipantThe issue was fixed in BP 1.6 https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4362 Could you check your wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-classes.php to check if your BP was upgraded properly?

ParticipantThanks for your reply. I’m using the latest versions of WP and BP but my theme is not standard and I’m using the template plugin. Is there a way I can fix my template?

Participant@scoobydoobydoo I’ve seen this issue before with old BP version and another one with a theme which has not been updated for some time. What are your WP/BP versions? Are you using BP Default theme?

ParticipantThe WP standard fields are not used, this is default usage with BP activated.
But you can create your own custom fields on the profile.
More about this here: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/3335January 13, 2013 at 8:09 pm #150567In reply to: Bypass Login for Profiles to go Live

ParticipantI am using the NING to BP importer from WPMUDEV. The good news is that the plugin will create new Meta fields for anything in my CSV that does not already exist. If it does exist, it will (supposedly) match.
You are stating that the name of the last activity field is “bp_last_activity”. Should I try the header:
bp_last_activity
bp last activity
or something else?January 11, 2013 at 4:44 pm #150314In reply to: [Resolved] Reorder member profile fields?

ModeratorIf you hover over field box the pointer is a cross you can drag the whole field to rearrange

@mercime
ParticipantYou just drag that field box up over or down under the other fields in wp-admin Users > Profile Fields

ParticipantThe “base” group is by definition the default group displayed if you want a different group to be displayed on the registration as opposed to users profiles by default i would suggest you will end up with a lot of “blank” profiles. by putting that base group on the registration page you can encourage/enforce people to actually fill out the fields. by putting them on a secondary (or tertiary) field group you are presenting hurdles that your users must clear in order to fill out their profiles.

ParticipantOk, Ok! But you still don’t get it! ‘Base’ group shows up on the sing up page. I am talking about the public profile that appears in the tabbed area. I need a different set of fields for this area. So, I created the field group, but the profile keeps pulling ‘base’ and I want it to choose the ‘public profile’ group.
January 9, 2013 at 6:10 pm #150108ArtShop
Participanthmmm… I see the tab for groups.
What I am trying to do is get the public profile to display a different group of fields than ‘base’. I created another field group with the name ‘public profile’.

ParticipantI am talking about the ‘profile fields’ area, not ‘Groups’, per se.
‘Add New Field Group’
(“Fields in the “Base” group will appear on the signup page.”)
OK.
So, where do the public profile fields come from?
January 9, 2013 at 5:46 pm #150101Ben Hansen
Participantprofile fields are attached to member profiles has nothing to do with groups.

ModeratorI am not sure that something is out there to do that but it does sound like a nice idea and I can see it being useful. Off the top of my head you could do something possibly using profile fields. Maybe in a similar way to tagging. There probably are a number of ways to achieve this though.

i need to store user meta data to created fields by x profile.
like: xprofile field: field_1

Participantyou can define the label for a check box, menu or radio select to any ranges you choose. if you don’t understand you might want to read up a bit on form fields in html. there really isn’t limit to what can be set up with what already exists as options for those fields.
