Participanthttp://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-profile-setup (replace yourdomain.com with your domain)
That’s the page where you can add more fields that people can fill out at registration and will appear in the person’s profile.

ParticipantI have this same problem with my BuddyPress installation. I searched these forums for the solution, if any, saw this and tried to apply it. I do not see the option for “Tick the box next to ‘membership – anyone can register’.”
Where is it?

Participant@hnla Ah, sweet… I’m definitely going to install this BP Xtra Signup plugin then. I’ll let you know how that goes.
@rogercoathup Thanks for providing the link! Forgot to say that earlier… better late than never though, right?July 13, 2010 at 7:39 pm #85469In reply to: Additional Registration Requirements

ParticipantI’m with you 100% on the privacy policy actually.
Not sure about the hyperlinks in localization file would have thought not, but did just check out of curiosity and the text string that is editable in admin will actually take markup, doesn’t strip it out so you could enter links directly, but also would have thought it shouldn’t be too difficult to modify the plugin to take another link.

Participant@hnla that’s a good point! I guess I could do a localization after installing the plugin to make it say what I want. Speaking of which, is it possible to insert hyperlinks into a localization file? If not, I guess I’ll have to figure out how to make the edit from within the plugin files.
I understand that having my users read my privacy statement is not necessarily a “requirement”. However, it’s better to be safe than sorry these days as people are suing over petty issues like having their identity stolen. (Disclaimer: that was sarcasm by the way… in case any of you who are reading this didn’t catch on to that, lol)
– Press ALT+F4 to acknowledge that you have read the disclaimer above. All jokes aside, my privacy policy describes the ways in which my company attempts to protect the privacy of our members and I would like to ensure that this information is admissible in court if the need should ever arise. Requiring that my members read the privacy policy before creating their account is simply a means by which to ensure that end is achieved.

ParticipantWhat does Traveljunkies checkbox do ?
Can it not simply be reworded to say something like:
“By checking this box you are accepting the terms and conditions of this site and acknowledge that you are over 18 and have read the privacy statement”
Although you don’t really need to have users read a privacy statement which is really there to cover you in pseudo legal manner.
Reading the T&C’s is more important. The checkbox is simply an overt explicit action that a user must take in order to be able to proceed further with registration. In theory you can say what you please and selecting the checkbox simply acknowledges what’s written.

ParticipantHmm… that seems to take care of one of the three options I need. I may give that a try because I like the newsletter feature it adds too. Does anyone know of a more complete solution?

Saw your ticket on Trac. Can you give some more info on your setup? What kind of file (jpeg, gif, png, etc)? PHP version? Windows or Linux server? Browser/browser version? There is what seems to be a similar/related report of this issue here (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/ie8-cant-crop-avatar-last-step-of-registration-for-buddypress-1-2-5/) using IE8.July 12, 2010 at 9:11 pm #85319r-a-y
KeymasterWhat do you have listed in your first profile group?
And yes, Paul is correct, you can modify the registration template in your child theme — /registration/register.php — to add additional groups. You just have to modify two lines in that template for this to work.
July 12, 2010 at 8:58 pm #85314Paul Wong-Gibbs
KeymasterOr, you can make the appropriate changes to the bp-default/registration/register.php template file in your (child) theme. Let us know if you need a pointer for that.
July 12, 2010 at 8:48 pm #85313r-a-y
KeymasterDid you create separate profile groups? If so, only the first profile group will be displayed on the registration page.
If you want to add all fields to the registration page, you have to add them all to the first profile group.

ParticipantI also have the same problem as u Ky, but Im running it on a local server. I also check my email account and there are no whatsoever emails from bp after I finished filling up the form in the registration, do we need to run bp online to test it, although there is an online demo, i need to check it b4 doing it on an actual online site?? BTW, It also shows up in my dashboard’s users.
Also, I wanted to ask if BP needs to have MU enabled?? Im using it in wordpress 3 (they say it has MU in it also) and buddypress.1.2.5.
I tried using Buddypress on wordpress 3 (wwithout enabling mu) and it works fine and the only prob was that the registration doesn’t work the way it did like when I register here at BP forum.I hope someone can help us with the problem. Thanks to u all.. ^_^V
Really sorry if this is a super newbie question..July 10, 2010 at 2:47 am #84990Scott
ParticipantI got ahold of the developer of the Transposh plugin. He noted an error in the script for register.php. Here is his response. I followed his instruction and it works again! This is a very impressive plugin! You can do this quick fix until the next buddypress update if you want his plugin!
From Transposh developer:
Found the bug in the buddypress theme
look at the file
wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.php
Search for “Complete Sign Up”
See the missing space between the type and the name – add one! Also reported upstream: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2516
July 9, 2010 at 3:24 am #84886r-a-y
KeymasterI would start by disabling the plugins you’re using on the registration page.
You have at least three plugins running, a captcha, a math Q+A and a terms of use plugin. One of them could be the problem. Also techguy’s suggestion is good. Revert the changes you made to register.php so it’s using the default one.
July 9, 2010 at 1:01 am #84875Scott
Participantcant seem to post the codefrom the register.php for the submit section here, but shouldn’t the button say “Complete Sign Up” and not “Submit Query” like it does on the registration webpage?

ParticipantI can access the wp-admin, but shouldn’t there be a link on the admin sidebar titled “Site Admin” where you can control registrations amongst othe things?
The Meta widget doesn’t show the registration link. Only Login.

MemberI was having this same issue, and this awesome guy linked to a plugin for me. Check out my original post with his link in it: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-can-i-better-filter-spam-users-on-my-buddypress-site/
The nice thing about the plugin is that is also lets you ask users if they want to join your MailChimp email newsletter list when they sign up.
I am so looking forward to not having to deal with hundreds of spam users now!

ParticipantI’m pretty new to Buddypress and WordPress. Launched my first site today with 95% of the “i can’t find my registration” emails solved by directing them to their spam folders. But beyond that I have three that can’t find their email, say it’s not in their spam folder, and I need to get em in. Opened phpadmin and didn’t see a “wp_signsup” listing. Checked out “wp_users” and found user_activation_key and there’s a list of 30 things and two of them have keys next to them. They’re different keys. How do I know which one to use? And how exactly do I use it. Do I go to the mydomain.com example url above and enter this key and then that gets them in? Or do I give them the key and they do that? Any insights most appreciated.
