ParticipantI have a critical comment for you.. You are reselling premium themes from WPMUDev premium on your own site.. I would call that stealing my friend…http://dutchmall.nl/buddypressthemas/2009/12/03/buddypress-community-thema-premium/
Basically you are reselling all themes and plugins from other people for your own benefit.. I am not sure if this is illegal (I think so, but I don’t know much about the GPL license), but I presume you know this is wrong ?

ParticipantHi Xevo!
I’m looking forward to try your “talkmore” theme. It looks very nice. Do you know, when you’ll be finished?
Greetings

MemberThanks for the help.
I have to admit that at first I was a little annoyed with the “people really shouldn’t be asking these questions, either you know how to make themes or you dont” comment until I looked into firebug.
I have heard about it but never checked it out until now. My loss and I now realize how much time I have lost over the years without it.
Thank you for pointing me in the direction of what looks like will be my new favorite firefox extension.

ParticipantCheck line 782, and people really shouldn’t be asking these questions, either you know how to make themes or you dont. We can’t help everyone that can’t find a css line..
Use firebug to find certain styles people..

MemberSince my question also has to do with widget styling on the default theme I hope it is okay to ask it here.
I am trying to make the background color for the recent site wide posts to be transparent and cant seem to figure out where this is located in my screen.css file.
You can see the white area on my homepage http://starcraft2gamer.com
Thanks!

InactiveOk, I just did a complete re-install and I still have the same issue. I deleted the database and all files from the server and did a clean install from freshly downloaded WPMU (2.8.6) and BP (1.1.3) archives. Default theme and no plugins.
Any other ideas?

InactiveThanks for the quick reply. This is a stock install of WPMU 2.8.6 in the root directory of the domain, with a stock install (not upgraded) of BP 1.1.3. No other plugins are in use. The theme is the default BP theme (I just changed some colors). However, this error was taking place prior to me changing theme colors.
The site is currently just for testing things, so I can do a complete re-install and see what happens.

KeymasterI also just tried to create an account on your site. I’m getting stuck in a redirect from http://coastalnet.co.uk/register (correct) to http://coastalnet.co.uk/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://coastalnet.co.uk/register (incorrect).
Does your server support htaccess / mod_rewrite directs properly? Are you on Apache, Nginx or a Windows server?

Specifically, do you have any plugins other than BuddyPress running? Also, I’m not sure if that’s your browser settings theming the page, or whether you’re running a custom theme. Revert to the default if you’ve customised the theme as a test.

Are you sure you just have the bp default theme active?

KeymasterHi Keith
It should be as simple as copying all of the templates from the BuddyPress theme and pasting them into the WordPress theme. Be sure to copy and paste over all of the CSS from the BuddyPress theme also.
I expect you won’t want to overwrite any files that may already be in your thesis theme (index.php, for example).

ParticipantSeriously, though…
Although your cries may be fortuitous, they are in fact at the right time. I plan on releasing the first public beta of my BuddyPress Privacy Component late this Saturday. When it is up, I’ll Tweet about it (follow me @jeffsayre) and post the link here as well.
I plan on first providing it via my website. I will uploaded it to my WP Repo account next week when I return from my trip–and have had a chance to make a few more tweaks here and there. This also means that you will be on your own for a few days. That should be just enough time for everything to blow up.
Leave any feedback on the post on my website. As this plugin is designed around the default BP theme, if you have a custom theme, you may have to do some CSS tweaking. It should not be a big issue though.
Happy Week-After Thanksgiving!

ParticipantI have a solution:
You need to edit the buddypress members loop file located probably at /wp-content/themes/bp-themes/bp-sn-parent/directories/members/members-loop.php
Find the members loop and make it look something like this:
<?php while ( bp_site_members() ) : bp_the_site_member(); ?>
<?php // put member name into variable
ob_start();
bp_the_site_member_name();
$excluded_user = ob_get_contents();
ob_end_clean();
?>
<?php if($excluded_user != ‘name of user goes here’) { ?>
// ORIGINAL CONTENTS OF LOOP GO HERE
<?php } // end if $excluded_user !=… ?>
<?php endwhile; ?>
Note that this will compare the name that the user entered in their profile, not to be confused with the login name. It would probably be best to give the user a complex name that nobody else would likely use so that you don’t accidentally hide unsuspecting users. Maybe you can figure out how to get the actual login name though.
Good luck to all

the basic layout is controlled by plugin-template.php for settings page currently,but the settings output is internal generated ,as Andy Has already pointed.

KeymasterSettings pages are internal to the app, so as it stands you cannot edit the HTML for these pages. This will change.

I’m just finishing up a post on how to do backups.“I thought about the index.html as well, but that would still make people loose their posts they are editing when upgrade is taken place (or is failing), wouldn’t it?”
Hopefully you’ll have booted them out & warned them.
Don’t upgrade on the middle of a Thursday, for instance. First thing Monday morning, early on a Saturday – those are times I pick, though I also have the advantage of being in an earlier timezone than my users.“So you also do not (even) deactivate the BP-plugins?”
I mostly do MU sites, but yeah. I’d just keep on going… (Do the instructions say to deactivate it? I can’t say I ever looked…)
I tyr the auto-upgrades first, and then if needed (or if it’s a big upgrade) I do it manually. Much safer.
“By the way, myself and some others had a white screen of death last upgrade. Not just just main blog, but all blogs, the moment I clicked the de-activate BuddyPress button. Apparently this could have been prevented by switching theme first”
Yep. the theme is looking for BP and you turned it off.
Kind of predictable, really.I did a post here about backups, mostly via ssh, if someone wants to give it a read-over.

ParticipantThanks Andrea. Sorry I have ‘inspired’ you do make a blogpost, but yes, it has become inevitable now

I agree with the notice, better to let people know. I thought about the index.html as well, but that would still make people loose their posts they are editing when upgrade is taken place (or is failing), wouldn’t it? have you ever tried the automated upgrade?
>Some of us with large sites do not deactivate all plugins and then reactivate later. With hundreds or thousands of blogs, it’d be a nightmare.
So you also do not (even) deactivate the BP-plugins?
>The moving of the theme only occurred during BP 1.1. Shouldn’t have to do it next time.
It is still in the upgrade instructions though and I assume that if there are theme changes this might make sense or not? I do hope somebody cleverer than me could make this process automated as well.
By the way, myself and some others had a white screen of death last upgrade. Not just just main blog, but all blogs, the moment I clicked the de-activate BuddyPress button. Apparently this could have been prevented by switching theme first. At that time I was not using a cloned child theme (now I am), so maybe that caused it.
Just shooting some ideas for your upcoming post

Cheers, Harry

ParticipantThat’s because there is no buddypress theme for your users blogs, they just take the standard wordpress theme, just like when you would make a WPSA install.
