  • When you are including directly code that is usually a plugin, you need to make sure that you include all of its dependencies before you proceed through the file you’re using to load that code.

In my opinion, the only way to make this transition is to do so knowing that you’re totally bypassing the ability to update the plugin and that it is now something that you’re including manually, either within your template or maybe even bp-custom.php. If the plugin itself was all you needed, then you’d just activate it and let it do it’s thing, right?

So, rather than hook the loading of those files into a WordPress action, load them via your parent themes’ functions.php file, and put that code in your parent/functions/ folder…

I try to keep things clean and logical, but I also reinvent a lot of wheels and re-factor existing WordPress plugins for my own custom applications. Breadcrumbs, taxonomy clouds, custom kses, etc… My parent themes are loaded with additional code that started out as someone else’s plugin that now is part of my theme. ( I know this goes against the entire reason why plugins exist, and I know it would be better karma to help contribute to a plugin than disassemble it and use its parts as my own, but sometimes that isn’t realistic, and sometimes it helps to see someone else’s perspective on how to achieve a goal. )

Maybe I misunderstood your question entirely… If so, then forget everything I just said. :)

Long story short, require ( WP_PLUGIN_DIR . '/bp-classifieds/bp-classifieds-groups.php' ); isn’t included everything that plugin needs to live. That file uses another file that’s missing.

I’m using them with no problem. I used the instructions that came with the download and to my recollection I didn’t alter the setup.

    @ Andy:

I’ve tried to do just this before but then the BP-forums (www.website.com/forums) wouldn’t display correctly. It seemed like the primary blog had to have a theme from which it could get the forum theming.

I was simply looking to see if anyone here was using their template and had success.

It appears their installation steps are incorrect on how to install their themes.

I pretty much have it figured out, their install steps are wrong, and based on the old set up.

1t 1st none of their themes will work if anyone follows their setup steps.

    2. I was able to figure out their missing step by searching the help topics here.

    3. I found their missing step and applied it and it appears to have resolve get the templates to work issue.

    Thanks Xevo and Andy

the other side needs better documentation

Anything related to a theme which is not the buddypress default theme should be discussed with the creator. We can’t help you and since they are premium themes, I bet they would gladly help you on their forums.

Btw, Andy already closed your other topic.

    In your wp-config.php add:

    define( 'BP_ROOT_BLOG', [blog id of community blog] );

Then enable a BuddyPress theme on the community blog.

Ask in their forums, this isn’t a support forum for premium themes.

The theme you are using is not a BuddyPress enabled theme, that’s probably why. They also have support forums, you should probably ask them why their themes are broken.

    Michael-

You state above that you do not need the old bbPress data. If that is the case, then I recommend that you do a clean install of BuddyPress.

    Follow this procedure:

    • Make a backup copy of your MySQL DB just in case
    • Deactivate all BP-dependant plugins
    • Deactivate BP
    • Delete all the bbPress-specific tables in your DB
    • Delete the old BP files located in the /buddypress/ directory
    • Upload a fresh copy of BP 1.1.2, move the contents of /bp-themes/ into their proper place
    • Reactivate BP
    • Go to the forums setup submenu under the BuddyPress menu and select the “Set up a new bbPress installation” option

    Does that solve the issue?

John, can you give us the directory where the avatars are supposed to be? It can help me a lot to understand. Because I not only migrated from 1.0 to 1.1, I also change blog organisation by adding a blog to take care of all Buddypress stuff.

    Before 1.1:

    – only one blog : http://www.casualgames.fr, with buddypress page on the same base

    After 1.1:

    – the previous blog is still http://www.casualgames.fr but without any access so buddypress pages, all BP is on http://www.casualgames.fr/bp (a sub blog using buddypress theme)

Fast and secure contact form was tested on WPMU and BP and works.

Perhaps your shortcode function is broken on default theme in your install?

I have had one report that shortcodes were not working, but after WP was reinstalled it started working.

If you’re talking about the activity stream, you’ll need to style the…

    #activity-list li span.time-since {

…anywhere in a custom CSS file that you create and include in your theme.

    #56238

If the theme on your root blog is not using bp-sn-parent, or at the very least not using the functions.php that comes with it, then you will receive this error, among others.

Which version of wpmu and buddypress do you have?

There’re so far 2 themes available for 1.1.x series.

Thanks JJJ now I am getting:

The requested URL /members/ was not found on this server. The only thing that I could think of that may be doing this is that, I added the new themes???

Once a .pot file is available, i’m glad to translate it into german. I think u did an awesome job with this plugin. I’m still busy in coding a custom theme for our upcoming non-profit network, but once i’m dome with that the implementation and theming of ur plugin is #1 on my to-do list. The feature richnes of this early version and how u support it gave me enough confidence to trust this plugin and it’s future development. Many kudos to all your work!

    hi David

No you can not do it in that way.You need to follow the process for migrating from wordpress to wordpress mu.

    1.Export your posts/pages

    2.take a backup of your wp-content directory

3.Take a backup of database(in case you need it to revert back)

4.remove the wp from server and install wpmu

5.Import the posts from your export file

6.Upload the uploads ,themes directory to wp-content/ in your new installation

If you have a website with thousands of posts, then export import may be trouble.you may follow this instructions in that case

    http://welcome.totheinter.net/2008/10/04/how-to-migrate-from-wordpress-to-wordpress-mu/

    Hopefully it helps.

    Check the themes of Milo.

    http://3oneseven.com/wpmu-buddypress-themes/

Change those, those have the bar like you want it.

(You need an understanding of a bit more then css if you want it like your design right now though..)
