ParticipantHi and thanks for your answers. I’ll try to remove the plugins and see if I can find out the one causing the issue.
Meanwhile, here are the answers to the common questions.

ParticipantI still don’t get why when I go to domain.tld/home the members link lights up (in the BuddyPress Home Theme). And how do I make the community WordPress Page appear instead of a page listing the folders inside the community folder (forums).

KeymasterThat is what I would do.
But keep in mind, you’d also have to make the same changes to your BP member theme.
If you’re using the default BP member theme, that would be located here:
/wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember/header.php

ParticipantYeah I am using the BuddyPress Home Theme, should I just change each link to /community/members, /community/blogs, etc. ?
Would that work with what I have setup (the three seperate pages)?

KeymasterI’m guessing from that statement that you don’t.
You’d probably want to make some changes in your theme’s header.php.
If you’re using the BuddyPress home theme, that file can be found here:
/wp-content/themes/bphome/header.php
The part you want to look for is:
<ul id="nav">John could probably help you better.

KeymasterNot sure why the Members link is lighting up… that should only light up when you go to domain.tld/members/.
I’m guessing you’re using the BuddyPress home theme.
Do you have a customized BP_MEMBERS_SLUG, per chance?

KeymasterActually that CSS code should go in your bphome theme’s CSS file.
Or whatever you are using for your WordPress home theme.
Let’s say you’re using the “bphome” theme.
The CSS snippet should go at the very end of:
/wp-content/themes/bphome/style.css

John James Jacoby
KeymasterThis is actually more tricky that it sounds, because BuddyPress by default stores most of its information in the blog ID = 1, and it will ignore most other constant settings. If you are installing BuddyPress for the first time, and change any of the BP_ROOT_BLOG or BLOGID_CURRENT_SITE or SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE variables, BuddyPress still saves most of its information in blod ID = 1.
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/823 references this issue, and I’ve included a patch for the instances where this occurs.
lynnallan, I’m afraid there isn’t a core solution for what you want to do yet, but the patch in the trac ticket *should* better prepare BuddyPress for this type of installation.
My only other suggestion, would be to think of it as WHERE the data is in the database doesn’t REALLY matter, unless you’re trying to split server load up across multiple database servers. That being said, you can install your corporate theme on your root blog, and then install the bphome theme on another blog, and then use the WordPress page template ability to recreate the look and feel of a BuddyPress on a blog other than the root. This is kind-of how http://leadpress.com/ has their site setup, if you need an example.

ParticipantHi Jeff,
Looks like I’m facing the same problem : I can’t login as the Site admin, but the other users have access to their backoffice and see the buddypress Admin bar (meaning Buddypress is active).
I tried to switch to the default BP theme for the home page, but the issue remains.
I don’t know if it has something to do with the issue, but members who register and don’t create a blog are automatically assigned as subscribers on the root blog. This means that there are hundreds of users assigned to this blog. May this be a problem with buddypress ?
Do you see where the problem may come from ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Julien

ParticipantTheme files can also cause this issue–although usually you don’t see it WPMU’s backend.
Are you able to login as the Site Admin, or does that also bring up the WSOD (white screen of death)?
I suggest switching to the default BP themes and see if you can login. If you can, then it has something to do with your custom theme–some recent change in the template coding, or possibly a missing custom theme file.
If need be, you can manually change the theme selections in wp_1_options (the options table for the main site blog user) and also in wp_sitemeta. If you go this route, make sure that you first completely backup your database.
Be careful with this procedure as it could lead to more problems. Manually editing data in the backend DB tables is never something you should consider unless you know what you are doing.

ParticipantNote that the default home theme for buddypress already links to the member profile. If you are using another theme – awesome!

ParticipantOk, visual integration.
I made a theme that calls WP’s header / footer. Install it into your media wiki skins dir and change skin in LocalSettings.php to “dusk” and you should be good to go.
Basically the theme does this:
wiki header stuff
<?php require(‘../wp-config.php’); $single = 1; $siteurl = get_settings(‘siteurl’); ?>
Wiki content stuff
<?php get_footer(); ?>
It’s not classy, but it works… well, for me. To work with your site it may take some CSS tweaking, namely, width and background info most of which is in “main.css” around line 350.
I’ll update the zip as I make changes. I don’t really plan to make this a supported thing, but as I hack a solution together, I might as well share it.

ParticipantDid you try moving the themes to their proper locations and then try reactivating?
This can happen to some people when they do not have the themes moved out from under the /buddypress/ directory. It happens to me each time I upgrade BP and do not move the themes. For most people, however, this does not cause any issues.

Participant@DJPaul: I think you mean this feature?
Blogs:
* A quick post form via the theme
I was under the impression this would behave as the QuickPress from the wp dashboard. What chandersbs is refering to is a micro-blogging feature which usually is a short snippet of text no longer than 140 characters.
Unless I’m missing that in the roadmap, I don’t think “status updates” are part of bp 1.1, bicbw.

ParticipantWell, you could either delete them from BuddyPress core (not a good idea), or unregister them in your theme’s functions.php file.

ParticipantLisa-
The BuddyPress codex is in its infancy. But, there are a few gems you can glean.
https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/
Also, look in each of the component folders of the core BP files for a bp-xxx-templatetags.php file. You will find tags that you can directly use within your theme templates.

KeymasterYou can’t. It’s private for this site only, mainly because BuddyPress’ lead developer, Andy Peatling, doesn’t want every site to look like the official BuddyPress site.
This has been asked and answered several times on this forum before; doing a search before posting your question doesn’t hurt!

ParticipantBoone,
Thank you for your code, the single sign on worked brilliantly!
I’m building a Game Studies social site for the new media field (hopefully new media academics, ludologists, etc will take to it) for the University of Wyoming, and a wiki was a major concern. the WP wiki plugins aren’t up to the task, so this really helps.
Few questions if I may.
When I enable the site wide update plugin, my mediawiki page goes blank. Thoughts?
Also, how did you manage to make CUNY look so integrated, a mediawiki theme I suppose? I’ve never themed (or worked with really) mediawiki, is there a good theme site where I might be able to download something to modify, or is it a group up kind of thing?
Thanks for your hard work!
I’ll look into your plugin when it comes out, but will it do anything more/different as Boone’s code is rather complete in what it does. Also, beta?

ParticipantOK its done you can have a look.
Main considerations..
1. The menu are static.
2. It is long- long list as there was no seperate functions
3.If you add plugins like content and events you have to create menu on your own
If any one can fix those it would be quite helpful
