Participant@formbi, it worked for me like a charm, which theme are you using? you need to write it at the bottom of your style.css . please make sure the page ID is right and dont forget to clear cache after the code.
the code is like ds .page-item-78{ display: none ! important;}

KeymasterVery odd. Were you upgrading from BP 1.6, or an earlier version? Nothing changed between 1.6 and 1.6.1 that would cause this problem.
The error you see almost certainly means that there is a problem with your theme. It’s probably the case that the theme isn’t properly enqueuing the jQuery accordion extension. Verify that it’s turned on in your theme settings (if there is a toggle, of course). You might also search through the contents of your theme to see if you can find the place where the theme attempts to load the JS – it’s probably using the function wp_enqueue_script(). Possibly, it’s doing it incorrectly, in a way that broke with BP 1.6.x (though I’d have to see the code to know how it could break in this way due to 1.6).

Keymaster@sarah_lena I don’t recognize the filename pattern …full-16×16… BuddyPress creates two different avatar files: bpfull and bpthumb, and does not create dimension-specific versions.
It’s possible that the Salutation theme is doing some of this on your behalf. Try switching to bp-default, then *uploading a new avatar* for your test user, and see if the same thing happens. If not, then it’s Salutation doing its own magic.
You may also have a plugin that is doing some avatar voodoo, though I’m not aware of a plugin that does this.

KeymasterHere’s some more information on how to create child themes for BuddyPress, as @mercime suggests: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/

@mercime
Participant@sudhirsinghinfo if you’re using a child theme of bp-default, then copy over https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.php in your child theme’s folder e.g. yoursite.com/wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/registration/register.php Open up the file you copied over and make the necessary changes and save file.

Participant@zkwc @solarprestige add this to your bp-default child theme’s functions.php file
`remove_theme_support( ‘bp-default-responsive’ );`

Participant@mystica do provide more information – WP/BP versions? Single or Multisite? Have you tried changing to BP-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BuddyPress? If this is a new installation, did you go through the Installation Wizard? If this is an installation being updated to BP 1.6, did you go through the Update Wizard?

MemberFirefug is showing the following:
jQuery(“.accordion”).accordion is not a function
[Break On This Error]jQuery(“.accordion”).accordion({ header: “h3.accordion-title” });
Does that mean it’s a conflict with the theme? Accordion is a shortcode feature of the theme.

Participant@kooba initial scan looks like you only need to create two files to fix alignment of BP template files with your WP theme. Open up your theme’s header.php, copy all code, paste code in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s page.php, index.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.

MemberOMG @neononcon please tell me how I could be forgiven for my silly delay? Chaos ‘s reigned in my world for a couple of months and I forgot about Buddypress until it turns to wonderful 1.6.
– Yeah, Theme paid.
– Too bad I did not notice about the confused users when both Sidewide and Group’s forums are enabled and now I do not know how to do. But I wonder why Buddypress team does not make this better blending the use of them.
– No spam! Wangward, Akismet and WordPress Hashcash have destroyed them while I was having coffee.PS: For anyone who wants to ask me questions, mention me, otherwise I may miss you.

ParticipantHello
Thanks for the feedback.
In my case there was no banner at all.Here is the way how I solved it couple minutes ago.
Nothing works so I have added to the wp-config.php
“define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true);”Then all of sudden the BP shows everything I suppose it shows in normal cases. The menu were populated with the items the theme started to work.. and most importantly it lets me go through the initial process of the whole BP.
What is weird though is that after that I have removed the statement from the wp-config.php the BP keeps going.
So now I’m confused and don’t know what is the exact process. Should we have the multisite statement in the wp-config? or it’s not necessary (but my case), or is there any other problem I have no idea of?
thanks 2046

Participant@miguelcortereal, Thanks for the feedback, SeoPress update is in work.
@djpaul Some user report this issue:
Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in …/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-template.php on line 787
and after update to 1.6.1 the error moved to line 823:
Fatal error: Cannot access empty property in …/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-core/bp-core-template.php on line 823
I’m not sure if this is a theme bug or BuddyPress related.

KeymasterThis doesn’t seem to be a BuddyPress question. Does cometchat have support forums you could ask?
In general, if you can’t find a bit of markup in your theme, just add it.

KeymasterYes, and I work very closely with John; he’s also the lead developer of BuddyPress. You did not ask John about the BBP_Theme_Compat error message. It’s not a BuddyPress class, so it’s not a BuddyPress problem.
You have a standard PHP error message. It’s saying it can’t find the BBP_Theme_Compat class, and you’re using it in /themes/animassrdblogbp_kid/functions.php on line 32. You (or whoever built your theme) need to figure out what you’re doing in functions.php that triggers this errors.

ModeratorHi Websitevala, if possible can you go to your BuddyPress settings and resave and also resave the permlinks under Settings? This may not be it but a good check.
If that doesn’t work it’s worth checking if a plugin could be interacting and testing (if possible) with the default BuddyPress theme.
If we’re still out of luck as to where the culprit is can you please link to your site (if possible) and tell us what theme you are using? Also if you are able to paste into https://gist.github.com/ any errors you are having in your error log (your hosting can help you locate this), that would also be helpful.
As for what gets effected when you upgrade, well that’s a little dependent on your set up. It is usually advised to make sure all your essential plugins and your theme either have updated versions or work with BuddyPress 1.6 – the same goes with WordPress.

MemberDid you check the link I gave?
Here is the post from that link:
“Not a bbPress problem. Looks like your theme is a child theme of BuddyPress’s bp-default, and it uses hardcoded relative paths in its @import rules. Any number of things could be going wrong here, but it wasn’t updating bbPress that caused this to happen.”This reply is blaming the problem on BuddyPress & not bbPress. Surely both bbPress & BuddyPress should integrate together?
So whether it was bbPress or BuddyPress plugin update that has caused my theme to lose its format does anyone know how I can fix this please?August 14, 2012 at 6:58 am #139354In reply to: BuddyPress 1.6.1
