MemberThat is a great looking site and looks pretty active. Did you pay for the theme? Also I want to ask how you are faring with the use of Groups and a Forum. Are users figuring out the differences between them? And are you getting any spam?

ParticipantThanks for the note. Yeah, big bummer, but WOO is no longer supporting Canvas BuddyPress.
So I’m trying to use a (blank) child theme. Yes, I’ll do the 16 files, thanks for the confirmation.Any thoughts on why AJAX/JS isn’t working?
Thanks!

@mercime
Participant– Make sure you still have BP Template Pack plugin activated
– Check whether you have the create.php file in your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/ifeature/groups/create.php
– deactivate plugins except BuddyPress and Template Pack and check if you can create a group.Btw, you have `font-family: ‘Nosifer’, cursive;` text showing up right under the adminbar and right before your header image.

ParticipantAs long as you ensure that the profile-loop file matches or doesn’t conflict with your themes markup – and it’s just the loop so should present no issues then make folders /members/single/profile/ in your child theme and copy the profile-loop into it and make the changes to that copied file.

ParticipantSorry, was looking inside the buddypress plugin rather than the theme.
I’m not using the default theme but a compatible theme called elbee-elgee and am using a child theme that only has functions.php and style.css as editable files.

ParticipantThank you all for the suggestions. The theme is Atahualpa 3.5.3. I renamed the theme, but still not work. However, I haven’t tried resetting the theme or plugins from database.
Hugo,
I am not sure whether I understand “You need to visit the themes page to ensure you have reset themes before logging out or trying to visit the frontend as the BP theme was still in effect operational in WP eye’s” correctly. Do you mean “when I disable buddypress, I need to go to my site’s front page, then log out”?May 12, 2012 at 6:46 pm #134406In reply to: After disabled buddypress, my site crashed.
meg@info
Participantrename the folder of your current theme, if not work ,
try to reset the theme from database : http://docs.appthemes.com/tutorials/how-to-change-wordpress-themes-directly-from-the-database/
Or
try rest all plugins from databse
UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ” WHERE option_name = ‘active_plugins’;

@mercime
ParticipantPage editor is a WP issue. Deactivate all plugins and change to Twenty Eleven theme then work from there to determine which changed your WP page editor.

ParticipantWhat theme were you using before you deactivated BP and BP template pack? Go to server and rename wp-content/themes/YourActiveTheme to something like wp-content/themes/YourActiveTheme-xxx so that active theme will revert to WP default theme

@mercime
ParticipantWhatever happened to Canvas BuddyPress child theme? I recall reading that it was the most downloaded theme in Woo or something like that.
== I was hoping I could do the “header-buddypress.php” method ==
Sorry, per initial scan of your files, you need to use the first method for theme compatibility – changing 16 BP template files. If you still want to proceed let me know.
As for your concern about updates, come around BP 1.7 more or less, you won’t need to worry about this. We’d most probably will post some steps to upgrade the template files until them. Best thing to do is to backup DB and server files regularly.
May 12, 2012 at 4:49 pm #134393In reply to: Small issue with Sidebar in wp-chatter theme.
@mercime
ParticipantB. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
``
with the following for registration/register.php:
`jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/wp-chatter/
D. Copy the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to your theme’s stylesheet. Adjust to taste.
May 12, 2012 at 4:48 pm #134392In reply to: Small issue with Sidebar in wp-chatter theme.
@mercime
ParticipantBased on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your wp-chatter theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
``with
`<div class="post clearfix maincontent" style="margin:0;" id="post-“>`Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.

ParticipantI don’t think you can upload a video with activity + . I assume you mean remove upload image from activity +? that is fairly simple.
try adding this to your theme’s main css file: .qq-upload-button { display: none !important; }

Participant> This is a design job I’m doing for a client
It may be design but you are going to need to know a fair degree about how BP works and WP, BP doesn’t automatically add a dropdown menu so your theme must be adding it, and you should be able to tell what is happening from examining the template files and the appearance > menu configuration
May 12, 2012 at 11:32 am #134382@mercime
ParticipantThat is a theme issue, so you should contact theme authors.
An alternative would be to use a WP theme and install the BP Template Pack plugin then go through Appearance > BP compatibility process. We’ve “template-packed” a number of WP themes, check out if that WP theme is listed near end of https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/May 12, 2012 at 11:25 am #134381In reply to: [Resolved] css not showing image with child theme

Participant@vus firstly you should not re-open threads that are old especially ones that are two years old it is very unlikely they will be relevant to your issue – especially where code is concerned.
Please start your own thread on your issue – rather than tagging on to end of another – even if similar to your issue.
In the new thread describe and detail your present install in as much as possible, theme in use plugins etc.
The aim is to identify why the issue is occurring as it shouldn’t so you do not want to be throwing code into the template files at this stage so remove the code you have added for the moment, until members can have a think and make a few suggestions to resolving your issue.
I’m closing this thread as it should by now be read only really.

ParticipantThanks so much for replying, Ive been trying to figure this out for a 2 hrs.
I first added it inside the header div just before the closing for header–inside the header.php. this showed no background image that I added in the css.
So I then moved the div#ropeheader to just below/after: php do_action( ‘bp_before_container’ )
Still no background image. The width and height I specify in css or a color will show up fine but no background image.May 12, 2012 at 1:52 am #134373@mercime
