MemberI have it all with in the theme if I disable the css. I only need about 10px of padding to make it perfect. But, I fan’t get the forum to function. In fact it appears there are not forums, i have four groups set, but I can’t post to any forum. Surely that is a simple setting somewhere. I can’t edit or install new forums. Do I have to delete a folder or something and start the forum install from scratch?

@mercime
ParticipantWP/BP versions? Did you recently update BP/WP?
Looks more like a theme issue. Change to bp-default theme and check if issue is resolved.

KeymasterHi
Take a look at http://themeloom.com/2012/02/how-to-make-buddypress-use-the-new-wp-admin-bar/It’ll become the default in our next major BuddyPress release, but you can switch to it right now.
March 31, 2012 at 6:55 am #28588Topic: Messages sending to sender
in forum How-to & Troubleshootingsarah_lena
MemberHi! I’m having a problem with messages: when a user sends a message, the message-view page afterwards says:
“Sent between Recipients-Name, Senders-Name and Senders-Name”
So it lists the sender’s own name twice, as though they’d sent it to themselves. Is this a bug? Has anyone else encountered this problem? I’m using the Salutation theme.
March 31, 2012 at 5:46 am #132181In reply to: Unified Profile Page?
@ChrisClayton
Participant@BossX – As in, similar to the wordpress profiles (https://profiles.wordpress.org/matt)?
Yes, it’s possible through a custom theme.The top part with the profile information is simply the members/single/member-header.php file with code to insert their bio and other info – See: http://bp-tricks.com/snippets/displaying-certain-profile-fields-on-your-members-profile-page/
The bottom part is the members/single/profile.php template (their activity is an external custom built activity stream, but the theory is the same… just add the activity loop) – See: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
And then they changed the default profile view from the activity view to profile with – define( ‘BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT’, ‘profile’ );

MemberHi Hugo, Hi Diane,
I have the same issue : Last member is listed 7 times. And when inside a group I list members for administration (admin option/manage members) I see one members 2 times, another one 3 times.I have tested without plugins and with default theme -> Same
I checked inside database :
– wp-users has unique members
– wp_bp_user_blogs idemOne particular thing : i changed the name of the first field in the Extended Profile Fields – was “name” I put “societe” then cam back to name, because notice of some strange things (value of this field wasn’t kept, and show some other value appears) – There is a ticket on this, I think.
If you found how to manage this issue, I am very interested since I am stuck and getting some delay in opening hte web site

ThanksMarch 30, 2012 at 8:50 pm #1321709087877
Inactive@boonebgorges
I guess what I am asking is did I pass the 2nd parameter of &per_page=5 wrong? I just want the same behavior with the exception that I want all users including admin to only get 5 items in activity with the load more option below the 5 loaded activities. If I am missing something I would appreciate the help.
I really think this is an important thread, with the impending release of BP 1.6 it would help for developing child themes for BP with more control over activity privacy in conjunction with the profile privacy visibility features in BP 1.6. Thanks Boone!March 30, 2012 at 8:38 pm #132168@mercime
ParticipantDoesn’t look like the full width template because there’s still the “ near the bottom of the code your pasted.

MemberHi, Thanks for answering.
I am using the BuddyPress default theme with a child theme and no BP Template Pack. I did use a some of the code from a different theme that I was using before when I was making my child theme, so something could be interacting from there perhaps. I thought I had removed all of the javascript from what I used, but I could have missed something.
For the “Favorite” button, when I get a 404, this is the link that is produced: http://rheum4us.org/activity-streams/favorite/3/?_wpnonce=275e4782c7
Is that what the link is supposed to look like?March 30, 2012 at 2:20 pm #118380enderpal444

ParticipantI posted a message on his message board. I have posted messages before and he just deletes them. I fear that I may have to find another theme.

KeymasterThere’s a couple different things happening here.
First, because you’re hardcoding the additional parameters directly in the template, they apply to everywhere in your theme where you show activity. You might consider either switching it to a filter of `bp_ajax_querystring`, so that you can put some logic into the function (eg, `if ( bp_is_current_action( ‘friends’ ) ) // do this; else // do this;`), or doing that logic right in the template:
`$params = ”;
if ( ! is_super_admin() ) {
$params .= ‘&scope=friends’;
}
?>
`March 30, 2012 at 1:22 pm #118375@ChrisClayton
Participant@enderpal, don’t have time to actually look closely at the stackexchange atm. but if it helps, you actually don’t need to unhook it.
The way wordpress works is it will always look through your child theme first, so if you copy the function into your child theme – when wordpress goes through default and finds `if ( !function_exists( ‘bp_dtheme_comment_form’ ) ) :` since it DOES exist inside your child theme, it will pretend that the function inside the default theme doesn’t exist essentially doing the exact same thing as ‘removed all the filters’ would do.
March 30, 2012 at 6:43 am #118371In reply to: Does theme 2011 work with BuddyPress?
BOW
ParticipantUnfortunately as @mercime has stated to use 2011 you will have to go through the process of theme compatibility.
In a related question, is there a plan to try and make bpuddypress theme independent?
On the surface it looks to me like it should be possible using some smart and unique CSS class naming that buddy press could be installed as a plugin with a set of additional CSS files rather than replacement CSS files.
I see in the dev chats that some folk are working on yet another child theme, but to be honest having buddy press so tightly coupled to the theme has been one of the main setbacks of this project (imho)
Surely the resource and time of these talented and dedicated members would be better spent on decoupling buddy press from the theme rather than creating another theme that existing users are unlikely to benefit from and gives yet another unrequired decision (and potential dead end) during the early process of getting started.
Buddy press components appear typically in:
The top navigation (can be handled using the menu builder or manually)
The main content area
The side bar
The buddy bar (now the wordpress tool bar)Most themes contain these areas (to be compatible with other plugins) so we must surely be at the stage where serious thought is being given to starting the decoupling process?
Future versions of buddy press should be tested to death on the wordpress default theme and and let theme owners take it from there.
Is this possible or it the task immense?

Participant@foundsheepgmailcom you need to paste the source code of your theme’s full page template and post the generated URI here.

ParticipantYou’re welcome
Marking this as resolved.March 29, 2012 at 11:23 pm #132154@mercime
ParticipantCheck the content of your wp-content/themes/wp-davinci-prem/ folder it should at least contain the 6 BP folders I mentioned in my previous post – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration
If one or more are absent, something went awry with the BP compatibility process. You should download a zipped copy of BP to your hard drive; unzip the folder, then open up the unzipped folder and open the bp-default theme folder in buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/ and upload the the missing BP folder/s note above to your theme folder in server – wp-content/themes/wp-davinci-prem/

Participant@boonebgorges Thanks for the reply!
I’m not quite sure how to use your solution, though. is it something that goes in functions.php? If so, how do I then use it in the theme?

KeymasterIt sounds like you have a javascript issue with your theme. What theme is it? Did it come with BuddyPress compatibility built in, or did you use the BP Template Pack to set it up yourself?

MemberThanks, but there is no /registration folder in the buddypress pluging group at all.
