MemberYep, I’ve checked plugins, theme, and permalinks off my list. So there is my htaccess just in case you see something there, but again, it just started doing this, so I doubt its that either.
I’m deleting everything to do with BP, deleting wp_bp tables and re-installing BP.

ParticipantThe other thread is here:
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/new-user-is-listed-fifteen-times-in-member-directory/But you confirm it’s NOT a theme issue, so there is larger issue at work here
.htaccess checks out as ok, permalinks re-freshed, no plugins running that might possibly affect things even if remotely so.

MemberOk, yep, and so what could be doing this? It’s not the theme, it’s not the plugins, and it just started doing this out of the blue… what on earth? Why can’t I modify BP data in any way?
Am I left with trying to re-install?

MemberI just switched the theme! *sigh* thats why.. I am using mingle theme now, please please can you see if you can register now? I would like to know if it’s just me. Other’s are able to see the page remotely so that part is on your end. But can you please use Firefox (since you said that worked) and see if you can register?
I would be forever grateful.

ParticipantThis theme isn’t a BP compatible one is it? Have you run the BP template pack plugin to adapt the theme for use with BP?
Have you visited the permalink page to ensure that your permalink cache is refreshed

ParticipantAnd your sure that you get these issues with all plugins disabled and running just the default BP theme if this is the case then you definitelt seem to have something very odd happening also you server doesn’t appear to want to serve pages up it’s just hanging on the requests. Who put this iste together for you? If you had a developer set the site and server up you may need to talk to them about the issues.
Out of interest was WP installed via one of those one click fantastico script installers as they often seem to cause problems with broken installs.
The problem with asking a developer to take a look is that it will be an unknown quantity in terms of time required to find the issue, might take half an hour, might take 3 or 4 hours and could start to get costly.
I might be inclined to to try a re-install of BP just in case the issues do lie with it’s installation, the more that’s ruled out the less time a dev will have to spend on it.

MemberNo, I already tried changing theme to twenty eleven and disabling all plugins, which means it can’t be the theme or the plugins. Also, it’s NOT a registration problem per say because every BuddyPress page which submits info is doing this, for example, the Add Group page does the same thing if I try adding a group… after adding title and group description, the same page just reloads and the group is not added.
And this happens with no plugins and default BP theme.

ModeratorCan you create a new user through wp-admin/user-new.php ?
If so, then there is a problem in your theme.

UPDATE: it is not uppercase letters issue, either, made sure of that.

ParticipantYou can do one of two things:
1/ remove the float from #header and replace with ‘overflow: hidden’
Or
2/ add ‘clear:both; to div.activity in the bp styles, creating the ruleset if it doesn’t exist. You can then do what you did in applying ‘list-style: none;’.
This is pretty much a consequence of mixing style from essentially two different themes, you may well run into other issue as well.
What puzzles me is that the theme you have used here states in it’s header ‘tags’ line ‘BP’ if that is the case and it is BP compatible then you have no need to run the BP template pack.

MemberI’ve found the function bp_core_get_users in the file bp-members-functions.php which seems to make it possible to exclude users from being shown. But how can i use this function and is it the right piece of code to hide the adminuser in the whole buddypress-created area?
Has anyone an idea what i could write in my themes functions.php to override this function in a way, that the adminuser is hidden on my site?
thx

ParticipantMany thanks but nothing really works automaticly as it does on WordPress with theme-my-login or equivalent plugins.
I tried to use the ‘pending’ status for user and it does not work either.
At the end of the day, I use Buddypress and Private BuddyPress and I unclick the ‘anyone can register’ tick box.
– Users are then created manually by the Admin. Probably the most effective moderation.
– Blog and pages are public, social network remains private.March 22, 2012 at 7:37 am #131779In reply to: Buddypress Activation Email

MemberI tried to add in a functions.php by added above code to my existing functions.php in my theme folder, and it gives an error. This doesn’t work.
The page URL is a Page_name by itself, when creating a new page, the URL end with a .html I am using a special plugin call “Page Link To” to link the page to the correct Page name. That is from http://learningdigitalphotography.net/registration.html to http://learningdigitalphotography.net/registration/ this is so because my permalink is not working to what i intented the page URL to be. Will this cause an issue?
ANother things which i have question is the the registeration page seems missing some field.
http://learningdigitalphotography.net/registration/
There is a profile Detail but no field to enter those info. Is there some info which needs User to Key in?Very strange that why My registration page is Not accepting user registration. You can do a try to register.. http://learningdigitalphotography.net/registration/

Participant@allentan What debug info does a wp-mail-smtp test email give you.
Does that email actually leave your host’s servers?
The functions.php file would be found in the ( child ) theme directory. If it doesn’t exist you can create one.
Were you logged out when you filled in the registration form?
I wonder if this even is an email problem as I can’t reach normal buddypress pages such as http://learningdigitalphotography.net/activate/ I get `(HTTP 404 Not Found)`….

Member– WP/BP versions?
WP 3.3.1 / BP 1.5.4
– WP Installed in root.
– WP Multisite = Subdirectory.
– Windows or Linux server? Not sure.
– Is this a new installation or an old one where you recently installed BP? I recentley installed buddy press on an old one.
– Check folder permissions via CHMOD, what are they?
Not sure which folders to check.
– What other plugins are activated in your secondary site with BP?
The primary site has quite a few plugins. As far I know I have to activate them as “Network activated” for them to work So i suppose the ones that are on the primary are also active on the secondary. Here’s the list of plugins i’m currently using on the primary site at least. I only really need to use buddy press and some sort of albums plugin on the secondary.

Buddypress Album v 0.1.8.11

MemberI followed your instructions. I have the latest downloads of Buddypress, WordPress, and BBpress. I am using the Salutation Theme. I inactivated all plugins with the exception of the Buddypress and used the default theme. The multiple users still show in the member directory, but only one user is registered.
Hope this is enough information this time.
